I've watched the individual videos already, but when I get some time I think it would be helpful for me to tie it all together by watching this one...or more likely I'll save it as an audio file on my phone so I can listen as I do other stuff. Thank you both for sharing your knowledge with us. I really do appreciate the time and energy you invest in making these videos, and your great generosity in sharing them with us.

Much better like this than in tiny pieces. Very Good!

2:08 "...I'm kinda nerdy. I wanted to show...how this works" ===> Thanx for giving us a glimpse of this discipline. I really enjoyed binge watching the series.2:12:18 Thanks for "keeping validity jovial".

I had already my serious doubts that the original source of the biblical texts have been kind of "lost in translation", and I find this video really enticing. However it is kind of long so I will have to take some more time for it. Thank you for taking us to the origins.

You are so welcome! All of the sections of this series are also uploaded as individual videos, if that's easier to manage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKabgIased-Gerc

Nice to revisit the subject! I think I'll go back to the original short ones. It's difficult for me to keep a tab where I left off and go on later.

I wonder if any scribe would copy "we will beat the corner" The what has been up is VERY interesting. The cats and frogs context would have been lost forever!

Hi, in respect to "יהוה" there is a bit more to understand in BH, it would seem just as you have noted but I'd like to bring out the fact that in BH most every thing had a 3 letter root that tied back to some part of the language. In this case "יהוה" is related to the verb "to be" BUT as we both know, the verb "to be/is" is not used in BH. It is however, used in Aramaic, a sister language, as "הוה" but the Mesoretes in Danial and other places wrote it with "הוא" to prevent the holy name for be written and pronounced. This give me the idea that AdonaiYehowah may be a little twisted historically. Also, in reading the Psalm using "יהוה" gives more of a rhythmic flow to passages.

Alright, that was kind of glib. I really appreciate this compilation and the work that went into it. It's a great summary of the field that was easy to follow and laid down a solid foundation. I'd love to see some follow-up work that goes into more depth and builds on this foundation. Thanks for all you do!

Taking the complicated and making it simple. Um. Simpler ... well, kinda sorta - but dab sure letting us in to what the students are going through and the work being done by the scholars. Ouch, that's difficult! I'd rather fix my pumps, the customers only complain if they do not run properly.

The one 👎🏻, must be from a biblical literalist. Just guessing. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not , really a literalist: but Bowen's atheist views aren't a concensus among Biblical scholars.

A pile of extant manuscripts of the ancient Greeks, Romans all of them would be about 6 FEET HIGH...pile of the NT manuscripts extant would be FOUR TIMES TALLER THAN EMPIRE STATE BUILDING...see Dan Wallace YT vids for his analysis...

What's your point? Who cares how many manuscripts we have when all but a few surviving fragments were produced centuries after the originals were written; copies of copies of copies of copies. In fact most of those surviving manuscripts were produced a thousand or more years after the original autographs were penned....and every single one contains textual variations.
