It's always great to see a new video from you Steve, although I wasn't expecting to learn much from just a recap of the themes but I was wrong. I was always a bit confused by the lengths that the story went at the end to dismiss pretty much any and all genetic factors, but now I get that it all reinforces the central theme of the game. It was particularly confusing because it so strongly clashes with reality. The current scientific consensus is that it's about 50/50 when it comes to nature/nurture - they're both equally impactful. But I love the idea of asserting one's free will over one's fate, and I would have liked that message to have been more clear - that our heroes DO have these genetic flaws, and they overcome them due to will and perseverance. This video just re-affirms just how talented a writer and well-read Kojima is, and I am continually amazed whenever his critics claim he "can't write" or isn't a talented writer. I think these people are delusional. It's okay to not like his style or what stories he's writing, but I think you're crazy if you think Kojima isn't a very skilled and talented writer. I will be eagerly awaiting your next video. Any thoughts on Death Stranding?

I might even make a pre-release video on Death Stranding. I'm debating anyway. I agree that Kojima is off base on the science but I'd love to see any reference to any authoritative statement at all on genes, it's my understanding there is no real scientific consensus only guesses that are some arbitrarily high percentage of influence by genes.

@@LogosSteve I should have also mentioned that in theory, a genetically enhanced soldier (or any individual) would obviously be like a super human superhero. Their superior abilities would be clear as day, like the virtually super-human feats performed by the most amazing athletes - but in theory, to a much more significant degree, since we're talking about combining all possible genetic advantages. This is what the entire field of transhumanism is about. Gattaca explores the harsh realities of this much better, but I think this video made it clear that Kojima had a point to make, beyond the science. I really hope you do make a Death Stranding video, as a speculation-filled discussion based on just the early trailers has the potential to be the most creative and interesting. In fact, I was probably more excited about DS before I saw all the gameplay and read some reviews. I think I was most intrigued when only the first few trailers were out and I could just wonder and speculate and let my mind run wild about what it could all possibly mean.
