This game is like how we used to see people as kids. Teachers could see everything and to us they were scary. alright hear me out... i don't think the message of the game is just "tv bad", theres so many more elements to it and i feel like the creators were likely apart of younger generations tired of hearing old people talk about "technology bad". the tvs are just a fraction of the games meaning. notice the name of the game is "little nightmares". its not named that for no reason or only to fit with the games aesthetic, but it also fits into the overall meaning. you often hear adults refer to children as "little nightmares" when they find them annoying or awful. the games calling these main characters who are children, little nightmares. throughout both games you are made to feel small, looked down on and pest like. you hide in dark spaces to escape the large adult enemies, and you steal their objects to explore new places. you are MEANT to feel essentially like a little rat, or a "pest". these adults see the main characters as pests they need to exterminate. they set up traps, lure them with child like objects, toys, and treats into their traps, and kill them on sight when they can. children are honestly, treated like shit in our world. adults are always pressuring them to "grow up" and act more like them, mature. they arent given time to grow up at their own paces and didnt you ever feel as a kid, you were rushing to go up just to do the things you wanted to do? adults treat kids like pests more often then not, even when they say they love them or have kids of their own they are STILL treated like annoying rats because they aren't doing what THEY want them to do all the time. the adults in this world treat real LIVING children like rats, but to fill the need to have children they create fakes ones in school to easily control. the real ones of course, are difficult to control so they're tossed aside and made to feel like they need to hide from plain sight. i think a big part of the game is feeling like youre actually IN a childs nightmare, where they fear the adults and have to work around them, or not get in their way (like turning off the tv for example) otherwise they're "punished". disturbing the adults causes them to become aggravated and attack. in the nightmare you're so insignificant and annoying to these adults... and since its a nightmare, everything is exaggerated in an almost cartoonish but horrifying way, everything in the environment built for the easy accessibility for the ADULTS but never the kids, so, you're forced to navigate as a societies little pest would! idk just my thoughts and just kinda a fraction of what i think

This game makes my little media studies heart go crazy.. part of the reason it's so terrifying is because it follows the Freudian Theory of the Uncanny - meaning the threats are both familiar and unfamiliar (ie. all the monsters resemble humans, but are also totally different to humans, the buildings are like real ones, yet they are warped and we can tell something is off about them). i truly applaud the game developers and their use of neuroscience and psychology to tap into the primal fears of humans (especially the castration-complex and animism!) they don't need to force the fear down your throat as you play, they set us up to scare ourselves with our own imaginations!

Ok, so if you look back at the scan of the brain in the hospital section, you can see black spots in it. The black spot shows like depression, eating disorders (little nightmares 1), and even suicide. That’s why the people on the buildings ends up falling off. Also in little nightmares 1, we come across a hanging body with a note. When the people watch the broadcast, that’s what happens to their brain. Also the “puppets” in the hospital are real people. They go to The Doctor because they want to look like the people on the screen aka normal. That’s why they have limbs that are puppet like. The faces on the wall were made because after watching the Tv for so long their faces becomes warped. This is why in Little Nightmares 1, the Janitor face was coming off. His face was gone, and he used a mask like the one on the wall.

I was thinking of that last episode. My thesis is that a great tragedy ( like maybe fittingly a plague or otherwise) happened and only a few unfortunate souls I.E these bosses (and other people judging by the first game) survived. They are all working together because they are all so desperate for interaction with other living beings at this stage that they, in an extended manic episode, are trying to desperately recreate society together.
