The first time we see the mother, she has her baby horribly underdressed during winter. Next time we see her, she’s crying while pushing an empty stroller. I think that’s implying the baby died from neglect, and it’s honestly horrifying to think that detail, which is completely removed from the main story and general theme of stalking, is just there. Like the main focus is our character and multiple customers worrying about stalking and assault cases in the area, while in the background a child dies from an idiot parent’s carelessness.
@_chrshcmps Жыл бұрын
I actually saw some other vids that the stalker might have something to do with the baby cause the mother was rude to the girl
@LyricaSilvan Жыл бұрын
@@_chrshcmpsYeah I think that’s more likely, given the theme. It’s sad either way, but given the fact that stalkers are often disproportionately attached to the objects of their affection and will do anything for their attention, it would make sense. The stalker witnessed the mother being rude to the girl he’s infatuated with and took it upon himself to “punish” the mother for daring to speak to her that way.

The fact that we kept hearing people say that "oh, no one would wanna stalk you" "who would stalk you" "you're not pretty enough to have a stalker" over and over from different people (senpai, the girl in the very beginning, the girl trio, etc) is crazy. People joke about stuff like that all the time and the game kept it real by having others kind of jokingly/non jokingly put people down for speaking up about strange behaviors. This can keep victims from speaking up about it again, so joke or not, listen to people around you. I just thought it was an interesting factor put into the story and characters, more realistic.

Honestly I agree, harassment and stalking should always be taken seriously. At my work I’ve gotten people removed from the property for harassing and stalking our workers including myself. Even with a bunch of people present those situations are still very high confrontation and scary.
@yumiisvelmasghost67862 жыл бұрын
It's really sad when you realize some of the people don't believe others because they've had someone or they themselves make up strange outlandish stories to get attention, so they think that everyone is making up stories. It's "the boy who cried wolf" problem but instead of them thinking it's only that one person who makes up stories they believe everyone is like that (they push that idea onto others even though it's not true) and never believe anyone when they tell them something "out of the norm" is happening to them. Like I know for sure if said something weird was happening to me I would tell my friends and family and theyd believe me, every word. If someone doesn't believe you, make sure you are not one of the "boys who cried wolf." First. And then assume this person is just untrusting of people telling them "strange" stories, if you're in this situation keep telling people around you what is happening to you even if they don't believe it you need to keep talking about it out loud.
@giraffe68562 жыл бұрын
I think majority of people not taking it seriously is because they think it's way too dramatic to be happen for real. Because often those types of things are more explicitly showed in tv drama or movie, which people can THINK those things happen in real life when they're watching a movie, but once they leave the theater, they don't think that much. At least most people believe those things will not happen to people around them. But then when that case is on the news, AFTER there's a serious injury or death happened, THEN people will believe it. However, even then, news is at the end of day, it's ON TV so people can be somewhat cautious, but to get to the point where fully believing one person's statement is really hard. Unless that person have met several people who have suffered a lot regarding to those incidents before. Just like how people don't believe in people with depression. People know depression is very common, but they don't believe people around them are depressed. But when that person actually do something that cannot be undone, THEN people will believe. Before that, people will think you're just being dramatic.

I got stalked by a man in his late 40's when I was in middle school. He would circle the block that my bus stop was at. Our first interaction was him pulling over and asking me if I needed a ride. He called me gross names and would try to give me rides to school. I hid behind trash cans and hoped he would leave. It was terrifying. The pure dread you feel is indescribable. You can't help but think "What if I don't make it home today?" He never got caught by the police. I will forever be scarred by that man and will never forget his face. @@Elysian.Sunvale it's a horrible concept that kids would have to defend themselves, since it's the parent's jobs to protect their children and enforce a community that doesn't allow shit like this. Now, for adults stalkers become far less of an issue, at least in America, because you can use a gun. Unfortunately, you had best buy it now, because you're not allowed a handgun until 21 in most places even if you're stalked at 18, you have to wait a long time for the background check to go through, which can easily be and often has been 2 weeks or more, and many people have been murdered by stalkers who they knew were dangerous because they had to wait so long to get protection. Being friendly and polite is part of your job, but some people need very little to become extremely attached to you. Unfortunately, they don't all act weird or give you a "feeling". Some of them behave perfectly normal. Some of them take years before they finally really look at you. It is a very fine line you walk working customer service. It does make you not want to leave your house, but you just have to accept that some of the really attached ones probably already know where you live, so you might as well go to work.

As soon as I was able to get a job NOT working customer service (at least face-to-face, over the phone is better), I've done everything in my power never to go back to that headspace again. And I used to live above where I worked so I could never escape some of these people. Some of the customers somehow knew I lived in the same building and would regularly comment about it, or try to bother me when I was leaving the apartment not even working a shift. It doesn't bother some people, but if you're already shy or social anxious FUCK the constant avoiding giving any personal information, being forced to interact with the same people everyday who know exactly where to find you and can spend all their free time watching you while you HAVE to have a smile on your face or you'll get fired and can't pay your bills.... and then when you very gently reject them they make it their lifes goal to complain about your service or badger you daily hoping you'll change your mind. I know it's a small percentage of people (in my experience it was only middle aged men harassing a 18-20 year old) but it made me even more paranoid and socially anxious as a result. Plenty of other people who showed interest were polite and normal about how they asked but it only contributed to the feeling of being overwhelmed by literally just being perceived and existing in the space of other people. Yeah sure, they might be a nice person NOW but after I reject them are they going to start being awful? You never know until it doesn't even matter. Modern capitalism really is it's own nightmare lol.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before (probably has) but I'm gonna explain anyway. The woman with the missing baby was crying because her baby was gone/dead? She was still carrying around the stroller because that was probably her way to cope/deny the reality. My theory is that the stalker murdered the baby in order to scare the woman. Stalkers often believe that they're some sort of angels or saviors, and he probably saw the woman rudely telling us to watch where we're going. That angered him and he decided to "punish" her. This is the sad reality. This game is scary realistic. Especially the part about there not being a happy ending.

The freaky thing about this game is that these things actually happen. I remember I use to walk to and from school because my dad used the only car to go to work and we didn't have enough money to pay for the bus fare and one day I remember walking to school and this dude just appeared out of nowhere and started following me, I remember feeling scared and uncomfortable but thank goodness one of the schools male counselors was driving by and asked if I was alright, I went up to the window and tried to quietly explain the situation while this guy was watching and staring at me the entire time, the counselor didn't feel comfortable with me getting in his car but agreed to drive right beside me as we made our way to the school. This creep followed me all the way to the school and still didn't leave so once the counselor parked his car he told me to go to class while he handled this dude and he called security. I didn't know what happened after that as I had just headed to class but a few days later my dad got a call from the school saying that a man was claiming to be my uncle and was there to pick me up ( he stated what room I was in and who my teacher was) which my dad immediately shot down saying that he was the only person who would ever come to pick me up and he was currently at work. I didn't understand this back then but the fact that the guy came to the school specifically asking for me and knew my classroom number and teacher's name (which he couldn't have known because I never talked to him and nothing I was carrying like my backpack or my lunchbox had my name written on them) meant that he had been watching and stalking me for those few days I didn't see him. Usually the school didn't call parents for pickup confirmation because well it was a safe district and things like this rarely if ever happened but because that male counselor told the office staff to watch out for anyone asking for specifically me they thought to call my father instead of taking the creeps word for it. Still to this day I'm so grateful for that counselor who looked out for me because I don't know what that guy would have tried the first day I caught him following me if he hadn't noticed my discomfort while driving by.

Two people, at the very least. The only time I worked closing, I was fortunate enough to have a manager that waited with me until my ride came to pick me up before they left too. I totally agree. I worked at a bakery a few months ago, and there was always only one employee working the closing shift from 1pm to 7pm because we just didnt have enough workers. And the bakery was very small too, so it was not too much work for one person. The creepy thing about the closing shift was that we had to leave the back door open which means that someone could have went inside and snuck up on me from behind at any time. Fortunately, that never happened to me, but there certainly were some weird moments where someone would stare at you from outside. But for sure, I dont want to work alone ever again

I’ve had an experience almost exactly like this. I was working at a smoothie shop when I turned 16. A man would come in everyday. Lean up on the counter and talk to me until I got busy enough to where I couldn’t respond. Every time he would come in, he would try to get closer and say more suggestive things. He thought because I was being polite and would smile and laugh, that I was into him. Clearly I was not it was my job to be polite and smile. One day I saw him taking pictures of my license plate on my car. I freaked! I immediately told my manager and people would volunteer to walk me out to my car (because he would wait for me to get off even if it wasn’t for hours). Eventually I couldn’t stand it. The constant thought that he could be around any corner. I quit and started a new job in a completely different area. I’m still very weary of being “too” polite to customers because i feel they will take it the wrong way and this ordeal will happen again. I used to be the kid that was scared of the paranormal and got frightened by things like bloody mary. As an adult, occult or paranormal things only entertain me now. What scares me the most now is other humans. Games like this truly scare me and fill me with dread. My worst fear is being stalked or getting my home broken into. It really sucks as a female that I've been taught growing up that I have to stay on guard, be aware of my surroundings, keep self-defense items close when I'm alone at any given time or else I could make myself an easy target for assault, kidnapping or worse. I know these things are important, but it sucks that we live in a world where we need to assume everyone doesn't have your best interests at mind.

Same. When I was younger, I was VERY superstitious, so I would always be afraid of things like 666, bad luck, etc. Heck, I was so superstitious that I had to think about where I would sit if there was a row of seats in front of me. (In this case, I used to go to my dad's work sometimes, and in there was a mini cafe which had a row of 6 computers and desks. My thought process was that 6 is a definite no, 3, 2, and 1 are factors of 6, and 4 is the product of 2. So the only computer I used was the 5th one. If that didn't work, then I was basically screwed) Now, I'm not that afraid anymore. What used to scare me back then only entertained me and made me laugh now. However, I still have a few fears like heights and deep waters. Still, kinda nice to think about every once in a while.

As a male I was taught that too and I actually think everyone should have it maybe not to the extent of paranoia but to keep defence items on the person and to be wary when in any situation that could be bad such as being completely alone in a secluded or dark area because guns are the purest form of gender equality because they don't discriminate when the holder pulls the trigger if you don't comply with their demands so no matter who you are being careful when alone to avoid an attack entirely carrying something on you to fight back in case the first step didn't work and if all else fails compliancy because no matter what they want it's not as valuable as your life are all things everyone should know rlly

On one hand, I hated my old retail job because the manager *loved* one girl's stalker. He'd always buy some cheap little item that was hard to sell and she wanted rid of, so she saw it as a perfect situation. On the other, it lead to a few funny moments. I coordinated my schedule with her after a while so I'd always be working with her on a shift she'd otherwise be alone for. Like clockwork, about once a week, long after everyone had already left the mall, I'd get a beep on my phone. Drop whatever back end or stock work I was doing, walk out to the register, and see a dude suddenly reverse everything and walk away. Usually didn't even come in the store, since he'd always loiter around outside on a small sitting area first. I worked at another store and just always carried both badges, so sometimes I'd walk over even when working at the other place. Eventually he just gave up. Probably ended up with another target. It was such a relief for her when we hit 6 months no dude. Then a random lady asked our manager for her by name, to which our manager happily obliged and gave the lady her schedule. And we got the same thing, but with some lady who seemed constantly high and swore up and down she was her aunt and just needed some help. I think her plan was less stalker more "mugging the small girl should be easy", so she backed down after only a few times of me walking out to her. Our manager loved it. Sales are sales! She was such a racist, nepotistic POS. I'm happy to report she got a raise after I and my coworker were furloughed. But no new stalkers at her new job, so I've been told. if it is alright with you, can you please tell when you first realized you were getting stalked, what it was like in greater detail, possibly also how to spot and avoid it? if you do not want to say anything it is quite alright, i am simply curious. :)

@@peanut9560 i’m not them but i had a stalker a long time ago, he wasn’t someone i know or even worked with me, he just saw me once at a Walmart, he saw that i bought similar stuff as him and he immediately thought we where soulmates (that’s what he said when i confronted him, literally) and he noticed i used to go every friday to buy some stuff so he would go every single friday just to watch me, he then started to follow me to my house, that’s when i realized i needed to make something about it, so i confronted him and he was pretty nervous and “happy” that i talked to him, he was “nice” but really socially awkward, but yeah first you really should check your surroundings at all times, not trying to get u paranoid but just do it, and if you ever start feeling a sensation of being uncomfortable or uneasy obey to your feelings, just in general be careful with people, there’s plenty of weirdo’s out there.

@@peanut9560 I was quite young, maybe 15 - he started by making friends with my older sister. But, you know, he'd always find a way to talk to me. I never liked him but he was nice to her so ignored it. He invited us to a house party and we went. I think the first time I really realised was when he tried locking me in his room, and then would try to follow me home from work, or I'd see him on the train from the city. It goes from 0-100 in a heartbeat. My managers would hide me in the back of the shop when he came in asking for me. He ended up calling my mother nonstop demanding that she make me go on a date with him. It was terrifying and disgusting. Trust your gut, and don't think being polite will get you anywhere. Tell people you trust about your feelings. If you are being harassed, please be brave and file a report too. I never did because the adults around me downplayed it all. But predators should be held accountable. Stay safe

Jack probably didn’t realize it but “doing something weird” is exactly what you should do if you’re worried someone is watching you. Behave erratic so if some is watching you they can’t figure out patterns in your life. Very good thing to do.

Exactly. I walk my dog at different times down different streets every day. Sometimes I'll drive to a different neighborhood to walk him around. Is that paranoid? Yes. Would anyone stalking me be able to predict on any given day when and where I'm out walking? No.

The only dialog missing is a creepy dude asking, "what time you get off?" I also wish the game exaggerated more of other people dismissing your fears. It kinda did with the ghost fake-out. But in my experience, people will call you paranoid, say your stalker isn't breaking the law so nothing can be done to stop him, or even say the guy is just flirting with you and you should give him a chance. Or worse, "just stay away from him." AKA: classic victim blaming. Then, when something does happen, it's always, "who could've foreseen this?!"

Ah, or the tried and true lines “you must’ve been asking for it/leading him on” or “cover up/dress more conservative and he’ll leave you alone” or “you should be grateful that someone finds you attractive” gross every time

@@Panda-cute But men or women should be taught generic respect and be able to control themselves around others, I get the mental disorder part that could cause it but still, the afflicted person should not be blamed for what they wear or for leading them on bc most of the time specially with this industry, the person is just being nice to the customer.
