@challenger2ultralightadventure2 жыл бұрын
All these costs, and more, are all dependent on what kind of airplane you have, and what kind of panel you put in. For example, an experimental like a Kitfox or like mine, a Challenger 2, will have costs associated with engine maintenance, but most likely none of the annual subscription costs for electronics or the panel. Hangar rental and Insurance are the two biggest recurring costs, that nearly all airplane owners will have to deal with. Annual depends on the type of airplane, getting more and more expensive the more complex you go in experimental, until you get to the certified market. Where the cost take a sudden jump in the annual and maintenance costs. This is a complex issue, and one that really does change from owners and aircraft types. Cheers from Winnipeg.

The bottom line with airplane ownership is that they are expensive regardless whether you are using it for business or pleasure. If you don't have the finances and are looking to nickel and dime everything I would not recommend owning an airplane...Let's also not forget Insurance and Hangar rental! I would imagine Mike is paying $3k plus for insurance and hangaring in the Atlanta area is probably north of $400/month...

Like a car… you have to maintain it. Tires, oil, (oil inspection), flitters, etc… As an experimental, if you buy it and build it yourself, you get an A&P for that aircraft. So, you can do your 100hrs yourself. Do you need the charts subscriptions, NO. Not if you fly locally. If you do travel, there are much less expensive electronic subscriptions for around $35 per years (VFR & IFR) There are loads of ways to cut down expenses.

@nunyabidness30752 жыл бұрын
@@jorgeetrevino6790 No one can truly explain insurance differences. You just have to get a quote. Maintenance for experimental aircraft “should” be less assuming you do more of it yourself, which is allowed. Parts can be less as well. This all assumes you can get the help you need in your area. Some Companies refuse to work with experimental planes. If you are on a field with two repair shops that won’t help you, then that could get ugly.

same for the subscriptions to foreflight etc. Those are costs, that any pilot has, also the ones that fly rentals... Not sure the video title is apt. It's a good sum up of costs that usually dont come up in fractions that sum up cost of ownership. But these surely can not be "unexpected"...

Airplanes are expensive toys, many times driving the owners to bankruptcy. To think about airplane ownership as a way to "profit" by doing business deals is absurd.
@randominternet55862 жыл бұрын
Elon Musk has a private plane. Not sure it's going to drive him into bankruptcy. It does get a lot of use flying both him (and sometimes staff for big push efforts) around. Send him a note - tell him to fly commercial. That said, for MOST pilots, yes, a (very) expensive toy. I'd really suggest a partnership if you can put one together. More money to keep plane in good shape if you can find right partners. Plane doesn't just sit in hanger eating up hanger / insurance etc $.
