Notice Rick Warren when discussing problems doesn't mention sin and discussing solutions never mentions Christ and his Kingship and Kingdom.

Exactly, brother. "Do not be YOKED together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?" 2 Corinthians 6:14 Let's pray that he repent of this error and return to preaching the true solution - Christ Jesus!

Rick Warren had a captive audience (Matthew 10:18 "and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles.") Before him and the call to preach like the Apostles and the church by extension, and he preached the false gospel of a Neo-Babelite social program instead of the Gospel. What more do you need to know about Rick Warren at this point?

This entire series is amazing. This particular lecture is very interesting. I have never heard anyone mention LSM before this. My entire family was involved with LSM ( Witness Lee/Watchman Nee) in the 70s and 80s in the "local church." I can't believe it's still a thing. It was a cult. There was also a financial scandal with funds invested ( or stolen) in RVs. It was as much a cult as scientology or jehovas witness.

I had no idea Watchmen Lee was a cult. I received his books years ago. I can't even remember how I came about them. It was a bit extreme. I never got into it.

33:00 One caveat to the, "secular vs. the church" narrative is that religious traditions, just like all traditions, are anathema to progressive leaders. Conserving any tradition or doctrine means conserving the status quo, but theirs is a religion of dialectic that dismantles all status quos. To preserve any form of status quo is to oppose equity and justice, and to enable privilege and oppression. The enemies of the church will lavishly reward all who betray the church. They will praise you, give you accolades, bend over backwards to provide funding, as long as you let them take over your ministry and speak their words through your mouth. And as you spread their shallow, selfserving, and question begging religion the people you convince will eventually want to go further. They will grow tired of the progressive religion diluted by Christianity and realize they don't need you to get what they want. So as you prosper your ministry will wither into irrelevancy and die.

I think the first thing that should be done is to determine friends from enemies. We can't do anything if we do not know who can be trusted. Thankfully these people operate completely openly and write novels, admitting all of their personal connections and personal mentors. It's a time consuming task, but its relatively easy.

@@rewerstfd how does one earn your trust
@rewerstfd
@rewerstfd Жыл бұрын
@JustGetBetter It doesn't matter how one gains my trust. What matters is: a personal history of acting in good faith, admitting mistakes, and not being caught maliciously lying to the public (being mistaken doesn't count as lying). By acting in good faith, I specifically mean not using double speak that dog whistles to one audience group while manipulating the other. For instance, even though I would consider myself conservative, I have respect for Bernie Sanders for being honest about his beliefs. I would consider him a trustworthy individual, but I would not vote for him. More importantly though, the individuals that should be weeded out are those on the "right" but are actually conspiring with the left. Or those who claim they are Christian, but conspire with gnostics. I am referring to weeding out heretics of all kinds - restoring boundries of definitions. I guess I'm just tired of words no longer meaning anything. Anyone who is not acting in-step with the words they describe themself as, should be gatekeeped and excommunicated as a treacherous liar. You can't be a Christian if you're okay with half of the teachings in the bible being disregard or twisted. You cant be a man if you're a woman. Words are meant to covery reality, not political or idealistic whims.

Practicing Catholic here. The Pope is definitely a liberation theologist. I never attended any Catholic services at the University. I always went to the local parishes. In about 1980 though, I was visiting with a friend who also Catholic and she brought me to a service at her university. I thought that the Mass was a big cringe, leaning back towards the late 60s. The cool, groovy priest gave a sermon in which he explicitly stated that Jesus was just a man. I thought that was weird and asked her about that later. She said “Oh, he’s a Jesuit, they said all sorts of stuff like that. Don’t pay any attention.” Yeah.

Were the original American colonies guilty of integralism when most of them had established state churches and religious tests for office? Per James' earlier panel remarks, calling it "Christian Nationalism" may be a word game many understandably wish to avoid, but I'm skeptical that "Bible as a standard for a nation's laws" is to be equated with Warren's three-legged stool. Perhaps it would be valuable to sit with some of the "good people" mentioned here and discuss their actual position (not strawmen) - and what you'd prefer to call it instead, if you think "Christian Nationalism" is unrecoverable linguistic territory.
@cristianfernandez1874
@cristianfernandez1874 Жыл бұрын
Lindsay's views about proper Christianity and it's implications for a nation that actually participates on it, are limited by a Classical Liberal Framework and " the American Solution" for governance, and it's good he's honest about it. He just needs to stop bashing the people that reject Liberal solutions as wackos that want the same as the far left, the right is not murderous neo-nazis or religious zealots.
@Truttle
@Truttle Жыл бұрын
@@cristianfernandez1874 Agreed. But I'd also say that while James seems to be honest there is a gaping hole in his notion of "mere Americanism" (if you will) because of the ethos America had at its founding, let alone the explicit religiosity among the state (not federal) governments.

@@Truttle I know, but most skeptic/agnostic/atheist prefer the secular retelling, accepting the implications means rejecting secularism or seeing something intrisincally bad on it, or thinking the church will obliterate the sciences or some other Boogeyman
