The Third Road Off Canvey Island by Drone

Northwick Road also known as Canvey Dragstrip. Used to work at the derelict oil refinery, had to patrol the site in a Mk2 Ford Fiesta, fine during the day but very creepy of a night time. Saw lots of wildlife on patrol like Badgers 🦡, adders and foxes 🦊, Barn Owls 🦉, wish I had taken photos now before it was all pulled down.

Lol yes I can see why, nice and straight, oh wow I can imagine wildlife was ripe, I’ve never seen a barn-owl in the wild. Sure, I bet that was creepy at night, it’s not as if there’s anyone around to hear you scream 😂 👻

When I lived on Canvey in the sixties there was only one rickety opening bridge which often broke down by Benfleet station. There also used to be an annual sailing race around the Island. Not much chance of that now!

Great vid. Satisfied a curiosity I've always had about that road. Preferred the style of this one too, less is more. And I love the smooth action of that gimbal - you don't get that with the Zino.

Thanks, I smile as I appreciate your view of less is more, I still often go too far with graphics etc for fun and to highlight what’s happening. But I’ve come to realise I enjoy producing both and strive towards producing powerful, cinematic footage while using graphics on other material to look after those that like that side. I’m still working on gimble smoothnesss including avoiding panning while in flight, it has smoothness settings that brake pan and tilt movements so as to bring them to gentle, smooth stops, very helpful but still learning and enjoying cheers 👍 I’ve never owed a Hubsan, isn’t that the 5g connecting drone? I hear they are ok but the more you spend the easy it is to use 😊👍

Nice work. A shame that pedestrian access is prevented by gates along those paths though, and of course it's not possible to cross over at the flood barrier. A cycle path (at least) from Northwick Road right through to Fobbing Marsh would be good.

Thank-You, I like your thinking!, let’s say that’s a fantastic idea, if they open just a footpath(which I’m sure they could), Canvey folk and of course cycling/pedestrians from the other side could be blessed with a great extension to our leisure.

Lived Canvey in the 60 only way off by the bridge to benfleet busy in the morning and evening used to get pocket monkey by digging worms and selling to the fishing shop at peir hill bought my first motorcycle and am still riding at 71 L

Very interesting and great filming, I canoed from two tree island all the way around canvey fourty odd years ago but I don't recall seeing that bridge although time can do funny things with ones memory. I can see that the cars have come through from the other direction, possibly on from what used to be the redlands pearl dump which used to join on to marsh road pitsea.

Do you use the OcuSync digital video downlink system on that Mavic 2, or an analogue video downlink?

The drone connects viaOcusync, recording set to 4K @30fps and it’s a simple download from drone to phone.

@@aerialdronevision Ah okay. Have been reading up on the video downlink options for the Mavic 2. Was kinda hoping there'd be analogue downlinks, as I have a home receive set up for 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz. Many years ago I could easily view the local police helicopter downlinks... ;)

I hope this helps, The extensive sea wall, completed in 1982, is 15 miles (24 km) long and surrounds 75% of the island's perimeter terminating with flood barriers spanning Benfleet Creek to the north and East Haven Creek in the west.

Not true, it is a third road as it’s often crossed by maintenance personnel and It’s for emergency 🚨 🆘 use only. The title is third road off Canvey as known to us islanders Dave, it’s more a reference what it could be if viable, which it’s not or it would be easing canvey traffic 😂
