Made a lot of progress in short order Joseph! I am glad you are sticking with the updated ignition system. Not original but should be a whole lot easier to maintain. Well done!

Thanks. I think you are right, as the tractor has a battery anyway it does make sense to go with battery ignition. We may convert the over two. Take care

I chuckled at the bag of many things. I enjoy doing electrical also, it will be interesting to see what is causing the no compression issue.

It is a luxury to have a bag of many things, it is normally a toolbox full of dirt and a few bolts :-) I have a horrible feeling the rocking on the crank suggest that it does not have a connecting rod attached but time will tell. Take care

Nice work sorting out that electrical Joseph.. Gotta love it when somebody mixes imperial and metric size fasteners on the same machine 😬 Cheers…..
@GardenTractorBoy21 күн бұрын
Thanks 👍 It is our pet hate when someone puts metric fixings on these machines, especially when they are forced into a non-metric thread. It is very hard to buy anything other than metric over here so it happens a lot. Take care

The old red tractor is very cool! Nice to explore and discover all the workings of it. The cameraman did a great job of filming and jumping the starter motor-He's doing very well!! Looks like you'll be taking the head off the engine for a look at the piston. Should be fun. Always something to keep you guys busy. All the best!

Thanks. yes, it will be fun to take that engine apart to investigate. We have far too many projects but it is good to be busy. Take care

@@GardenTractorBoy I was once told to finish one project before beginning another....But what's the fun in that!! LOL I like to be busy too and have different things pulled to bits here and there all the time. Variety is the spice of life!

Thanks for sharing another great video. A suggestion to remove the grease / gunge that got on the new belt would be to take a little bit of hand cleaner (non gritty preferred) and dab it on the grease / gunge area and work it in a bit with your finger (make sure engine cannot crank over), then let the hand cleaner sit for a few minutes and then take a rag damped with water and wipe the area. I have found once the hand cleaner sits for a few minutes it will tend to lift and break the bond the grease has to the belt surface and then the grease usually is removed.

How's she goin'? Joseph I found it interesting to see the battery ignition system operational on the Ride-a-matic. It's good to know that this type of change over is possible. Getting the electrics squared away is always tricky thing for me. You are on top of it though!! Nice. Take 'er easy!!

Looks like someone did a lot of desperate quick repairs to keep it running. A lot to undo.
@GardenTractorBoy21 күн бұрын
That seems to be the case with older garden tractors over here. Our pet hate is when people use metric fixings or worse force a metric bolt into a threaded hole. I hope we can sort out all the issues and get it back running again. Take care
