It’s so sad how normalized bullying is now. I don’t have a TikTok, but from what I’ve heard, hate comments are rampant in the art community over there. It feels like everyone is trying to pounce onto each other, and I can imagine how that tension easily discourages people from progressing in their art. That’s why I stick to KZbin and Instagram as an artist.

its really sad to see how toxic the art community has become of late. i swear every other trend i see on artist tiktok is just making fun of beginner artists without even trying to help them improve or give genuine advice. its so unmotivating to see how toxic the community it becoming :(

Honestly if you're rude don't get suprised when someone rude back. Yeah i understand and hate how mean the art community is, but i don't think this is that serious. Sweetbug gave advice in a non mean way and responded in a rude way only after emily responded in a rude and immature way. Theres way bigger problems.I wouldn't consider getting an insult back after your rude in a tiktok comment section as serious bullying or bullying at all. Especially after Emily half assed "apology".

As a young artist who posts my art on KZbin, I used to get so upset with people telling me to do certain things especially when I first started posting when I was 12 (not talking about those people who called my art shit or a joke yall were really telling an 12yr old that) but now I definently see the people who were nice and those who were mean, but if you can tell someone is a child and making art, it hurts alot more to be told to change something when they were super happy or proud with the piece. Especially cause I would only post my "best" pieces then 💀.

yes, art community being toxic is an issue, but sweetbug didnt do anything wrong. ofc if someone insulted you "you are so bad at art iwill not take advice from you lol" then you gotta say smth back.

How to give constructive criticism: Compliment, critique, compliment (i.e. “I love the composition on this piece! I think doing these two things may help achieving the kind of look I noticed you were going for. Aforementioned two things would also help enhance the already amazing storytelling you have in your artwork!”) How to accept constructive criticism: Appreciation, acknowledgement (i.e. “Thank you for that advice! I’ll make sure to keep those two things in mind for any of my future projects.”) Easy, right?

@@lynnzCorner Totally agreed I am glad I never had Tiktok because I always knew somethings bad going to happen especially being in the art community everyone will going to treat me like a loser because I am a noob(beginner) artist because my art is not impressive enough to wow people and there would always going to have a unfair criticism to force me to become a pro artist immediately so yeah I believe the majority of artist in Tiktok where pro artists outnumbered a noob artist just give a noob(beginner) artists a chance and let them improve and motivate them to take some time and became better no matter how "unappealing", "unattractive" or "unimpressive" their arts are.

Obviously not on Emily’s side but I do kinda understand as someone who posts art on KZbin and is a young artist, I was very frustrated when someone critiqued my art especially when they themselves didn’t make or draw art and I was really proud of the art piece, the difference being I still took the criticism and even though it frustrated me I didn’t tell them I wasn’t going to take their advice because they couldn’t do art like me. I just silently disagreed or agreed and moved on. it’s okay to be frustrated about someone who doesn’t follow ur medium giving u tips but just shouldn’t tell them or bully them.
