The Time Barriss Offee FAKED the Deaths of Her Clone Troopers To Save Their Lives - Star Wars

Only a few months after the horrific battle of geonosis, which marked the beginning of the Clone Wars, General Luminara Unduli and her apprentice, Commander Barriss Offee were sent to the Hellish mountain world of Nadiem, where they were forced to evacuate the civillian population from an incoming separatist invasion. During the intense evacuation however, Barriss Offee was forced to do something incredibly brave to save the lives of her men and herself.
The story begins inside of the treacherous Threadneedle Canyon, on the rocky world of Nadiem, where Republic High Command has deployed General Luminara Unduli and her Padawan, Barriss Offee to ensure the safety of the local citizens.
Luminara’s ARC Trooper Commander, who unfortunately doesn’t have a name, begins to scout out the interior of the tall canyon, before he spots a single file advancing line of Separatist battle droid. Since this awesome ARC Commander doesn’t have a name, let me know down below what you think he should be called after you finish the story!
As soon as he makes this dangerous observation, he immediately orders his men to fall back to the next marker, before marching back to their General, Luminara. While on the rigorous trek back to the main village of Nadiem, Red Commander begins a transmission with Master Luminara, informing her that the droid army is rapidly advancing and that if they continue on at their break-neck speed, they will reach the village in less than one hour. Luminara is slightly concerned for the safety of the citizens inside the village, but she brushes this off and instructs Red Commander to continue as ordered.
As Luminara ends the transmission, Barriss Offee walks up to her with great concern on her face, and asks Luminara, “worried about the battle Master?”. Of course, as we know from Lumianra’s cold and calculated personality, she doesn’t let her internal fear or worry slip out through her expressions, telling Barriss that she has extreme confidence in her Clone Soldiers.
As the evacuation operation continues, Luminara moves into the centre of the Village and asks Blue Lieutenant how the evacuation operation is proceeding. Blue Lieutenant reluctantly tells his general that things are going well, but moving very slowly. He tells Luminara that the reason for this ridiculously slow-moving evacuation is because most of the civilians are being extremely greedy and trying to bring their personal belongings with them, and even some farm animals and pets. With limited space on board the evacuation vessels and even more limited time, Luminara comes up with a plan to get things moving along much more quickly, so that the separatists aren’t able to surround the villiagne and decimate everyone inside.
Master Luminara immediately calls everyone in the village for attention, bringing them together to listen to her very important announcement. With great caution and care in her words, Luminara delicately tells the citizens of the village that her and her men are doing absolutely everything they can to bring everyone to safety, but simply cannot fit their personal belongings. She delivers the news that nobody in the village wants her, but is absolutely necessary for their own survival.
As soon as she finishes her sentence, Luminara is met with extreme anger and disdain from the villagers, who call out to her and begin shouting reasons why they don’t want to leave their belongings behind.
One local farmer even walks up to Luminara and asks to bring his Eopi on board, but she coldly and calmly dismantles the man, telling him that the animal will require the space of three people, before asking him the brutal question “Which of your neighbours do you suggest we deny passage?”. The farmer of course doesn’t know how to respond to Luminara’s destruction of his argument, leading the farmer to release the animal far into the arid landscape of the planet. Moments later however, a stern, angry look washes over Luminara’s face, as she notices a very suspicious man. Luminara uses her methodical thinking to realize that there is absolutely no way that this tiny village produces enough food every month to make a man that fat. Because of this, she rips her lightsaber off of her hilt in an instant, igniting the bright green blade, before viciously slashing the man in two.

I think it started and ended with compassion that was eventually twisted/distorted by the drive to save the clones. Most of the separatists were civilian populations that wanted independent governance, presumable the droid army was only a means to an and and wouldn't be needed if the republic let them leave. The lives of the clones could be sparred by allowing these systems to rule themselves which was her goal. this meant that even personal betrayal would be worth the goal of "save the clones" and stopping the war had the added benefit of not having to worry about separatists (but the droids would still be a problem but we both know that).

The Medstar books go into a lot of Barriss’s story. I can really understand why she became disillusioned with the Order and why she was so jaded. However that does not excuse her betraying Ashoka and blowing up the temple.

Well, war can change a person. This story takes place six or so months after the start of it, and when she framed Ashoka, it was nearly the end of it, 3 or so years later. That long in numerous battles and seeing so much death, well, even Jedi can be changed by that, either in major ways, or possibly minor, depending on how they are I think in fortitude and also their opinions on the clones. Say, if a Jedi doesn't care for clones, probably not gonna care if they die, but if they do, then they will care, thus leading to a possible change if it goes on for too long.

Bariss Offee lost her connection to the force when she sought to trade it for knowledge of all things. She saw too many things from the dark side and her lack of moral compass corrupted her. Luminara may be a stern teacher and brilliant fighter, but if you remember the episode of Ahsoka and Bariss Offee, while Anakin becomes evil and Ahsoka remains good, Luminara remains good but Bariss Offee becomes evil. There is a hidden balance to this, and I think it is the style in which they were trained, for while Ahsoka learned how to be strong willed like her master and disobey orders so she could easily disconnected from Darth Vader's passion for power; Bariss Offee was an obedient and calculated soldier who was careful to help her team but rarely showed empathy. Her studies made her want to learn how to be calm and calculated, but she became equally cruel in the process. She studied the quantitative essence of winning a battle and facts of history and fell for the false Iron Curtain of the dark side, but she forgot to study the qualitative value of life and it's inherent value, in her studies. This made her lose connection to the Force, as what happens to people who may lose their conception of moral philosophy. Like Anakin, Bariss Offe craved power, and another kind of power is Knowledge, and wanting too much of it always leads to bad things, for no one is made to know everything, the good and bad. So Anakin became evil for wanting to do everything, both good and bad, to protect those he loved. Bariss Offee became evil because she yearned to study everything, the good and the bad, in the hopes of learning how to become a Jedi Knight faster. I think that is the parallel presented here.

This remembers me of some World War Z book chapters. Zombie hordes are advancing relentlessly and many people couldn't evacuate because they are too busy paying more attention to saving their material possessions than their own lives, making things even harder for the military. In other cases, those who manage to escape from cities or ares that are starting to become heavily infested by their own bring themselves a lot of items that aren't going to serve them in the survival of the apocalypse. For example, in one survivor's story from USA, she tells people brought with them a lot of portraits, DVD players, Nintendo Gamecubes and similar stuff. Another story from a survivor from India explains that during a panic escape from a horde, he believed a man fell through a canyon for being fighting with a monkey that was trying too to escape. He fell to his death because he was trying to carry a very heavy PC, and not a laptop, A DESKTOP ONE. We as living beings sometimes cannot leave things go easily. In other words, is hard for most people to set priorities.

Would this constitute as a war crime by The Republic? As I understand it: You aint supposed to play dead. However, seeing as you had Gen.Grievous supervising the battle on the Seperatists side, it is highly unlikely the droids would have been permitted to accept a surrender, and likely surrendering woulda just led to being executed by Grievous/being taken for experimentation. Plus he was attacking a civilian settlement which is probably higher on the "You don't do that!" scale than playing dead.

@@ig-1160 The ARC Troopers have the same rank structure as normal clone troopers. *Green: Sergeant* (Most battle-ready ARCs are promoted to Lieutenant, but at least one ARC trooper has declined promotion and remained as a Sergeant) *Blue: Lieutenant* (Almost all ARC troopers shown in comics, shows, etc. are of this rank) *Red: Captain* (Although captains are often referred to as "commanders," this is because captains often assume the role of "task force commander") *Yellow: Commander*
