I actually think it's quite good looking especially the later version with better bumpers

'83 QV owner here. I've had the car about a year, and absolutely love it. The rear seats are useless for humans but handy for luggage, even though the boot is pretty big. I recently took it to Le Mans Classic for four days camping and it swallowed all my kit with ease. Couple of points. The weight is closer to 1400kg, but it's not a light car (a 986 Boxster is about 1200kg). The early 8s were marginal on power but those terrible acceleration figures came from American mags, which tested a pre-production model that had problems with the shift linkage. Car and Driver just hated it because it was easier to drive than they thought it should be. I fitted a custom exhaust to mine because they are a bit muted standard (the 308/328 was the same) and now it sounds wicked. My car gets loads of attention, and I even get waves and smiles from owners of much more modern Ferraris, so I suspect the attitude about Mondials is changing. They are still cheap (relatively) and anything before the t is not that expensive to maintain (a yearly service is £400 at my specialist).

Mondial 8 was slight let down by ferrari standards but pulled back with 3.2 0 60 in6 secs in the 80s

My dad bought a QV in the early 80s, before I was born, and got the chance to grow up sitting in its backseats. As a kid, it was fantastic, when my dad brought friends for rides, I could tag along, and get to hear the screaming flat crank V8 screaming just behind my ears. Nearly 40 years later, this car is now mine, I’ve spent way more than it’s value to fully restore it, I’ve shipped it half way around the world where I live now, and my kids get to live the same experience as I did when I had their age.

Fair comments ! As my profile pic probably gives the game away, the QV was the first Ferrari I properly drove. I was 25 and on a shoestring budget, but had some great (and horrendous) experiences with this car. I was 25, sold on to someone in Germany with more resources than I could throw at a 1985 US spec car with some "gremlins". I was up-front and the buyer has since been in touch telling me of the improvements he made with her. Expectations were greater than reality, but the memories of being young and driving a convertible Ferrari will stay with me for the rest of my life.

The Mondial T recently has been selling for 110-130K USD for the finest examples. Even in solid condition these models are fetching above 75K on online auction sites.

These were nice cars in the 50-60k range, but for 130K give me a higher mileage FF any day of the week to satisfy my 4-door Ferrari fix.

I have to say the Mondial 3.2 does look pretty good, is it a good Ferrari not quite but I think a company this old should take some risk, it would not always gonna be good but that should not stop these automakers . All in all a great video as always

I used to live near a guy who had a mondial and I always heard it rumbling by whenever he left. Pretty sure he sold it to buy an Octavia instead haha.

Great Video Jackoh, you made some fantastic points about the Mondial. But I had to choose an unpopular Ferrari I’d still pick up a 348 (🤮 that was hard to type).

I've always loved them, even as a kid when it launched. There is so much elegance in its lines. I hated the Testarossa for being too vulgar. Is it a proper Ferrari? I never have a good answer to that, as I think proper Ferrari's were made in the 50s and 60s. V12s with elegant, glamorous styling. Some fighting words maybe, but I think the Testarossa and F40 are as much remote from "true Ferrari" in that sense, if not more. If you look at it as a car, as a concept and how they improved it over the years, I just can't help but love them.

What’s with the hate for the 348? 🤨 Sounds like you’re regurgitating the hate campaign from Luca Di Montezemolo trying to promote his baby, the ‘completely not a 348’, the F355 (spoiler alert: it’s the same car, just facelifted and a few bits of modern tech added).

My slightly tuned 1984 Alfa GTV2.0 did 0 to 60 in 7.5 sec round . It wanted a Mondial for breakfast every morning , and in the mean while showed how a proper GT should look ! 😂😂😂

All 116 Alfas where pretty good sprinters due to the transaxle weight distribution and overall being reasonably light weight.
