As a USC fan it is maddening that this is our last bowl win. 5 fucking years ago. Obviously showed that Clay Helton was saved by Sam Darnold. @kev6143 жыл бұрын
That was the same USC team who got blown out by a decent but not elite Stanford and lost to a decent but not elite Utah.. later in the season they beat a decent 10-4 Colorado and traveled to Washington and beat them by almost the same amount that Bama did. It definitely would’ve been closer, I’d say Alabama 38-27.

That was the season that started off with USC losing to Alabama 52-6. Max Browne was the starting QB and was just not getting it done. For starters, Clay Helton likes a pure pocket passer and in all his years at USC, he hasn't been able to assemble a solid offensive line that'll protect his quarterback. Darnold came in to replace Browne and proved he could be deadly to defenses with his feet. The pattern repeated with J. T. Daniels, a pure pocket passer, getting injured due to lackluster support from the front line. Daniels later transferred to Georgia where he's having breakout games and contending for the SEC championship. Kedon Slovis took his place and like Sam Darnold, has used his feet to make plays that keep the Trojans winning more often than losing.

The season where Sam Darnold pulled a miracle for USC then got chewed out for extending plays vs running what Helton had called. Darnold's response C-YA. Darnold will receive 18+ million from the Carolina Panthers per his 5th year NFL deal. Lotta money for a Communication major, former linebacker recruited by Justin wilcox for USC turned QB. 2016 the last year USC won a bowl game under Clay Helton.

I will never understand why they always make the Big Ten travel so far for a bowl game. I think these two teams were neck and neck but I think that Penn State would’ve won had it been an actual neutral site instead of in California. Same thing with Michigan playing FSU in Florida that year which was also a very close game. These are nice videos and keep up the great work though! This might be my favorite new channel.

You guys kill me with this neutral field argument regarding the Rose Bowl being in favor of California teams. I'm a USC fan but look what happened to us in 2006! @kev6143 жыл бұрын
@@hiphoploverjon9180 Oh yeah, (definitely off topic) but if it was a 4 team playoff that year it’d be 1. USC 4. Ohio State I think USC would win that game like 38-31 in a very close game because we actually almost beat Texas but it was at home and we beat Notre Dame by more but USC was overall reallyyyyy good. The other matchup would be 2. Texas V 3. Penn State I think that Texas wins that in a close game like 31-24 because their common opponent was Ohio State and they both won that game but Texas did it on the road which I thought was impressive. I really would’ve loved if there was a playoff since 2000 because imagine the matchups!
