OK, on further examination of their website I see that the extra 2kwh battery is only 1395.00 which isn't bad at all considering it actually specs at 2.2kWh. So for $4395.00 you are getting a True 4kW system that specs at around 4.4kWh capacity. That's basically about 1$/per watt hour which is on par with other manufacturer's units but your also getting much better charging and input/output power options all around with this unit but with a slightly subpar lithium bat. If they keep the price the same with LifePO4 bats it will be a real value!. It seems their pricing strategy is to drive consumers to get that extra battery pack to bring up the value but naturally you have to buy the starter unit for compatibility.

This sounds like it should be the commercially available unit I've been waiting for to upgrade from my existing homemade all in one box. I watched your other videos up until now on the unit, but I'd really like to see inside the control unit. I get that it's a 240v split phase inverter from how the front panel is run, but I need to know if it has a nice fat toroidal transformer in it or if it's the junky high frequency little transformers that can't handle large inductive loads. From your other videos and tests, I'm guessing it's the beefy toroidal transformer since it's pure sine wave and has been powering A/C units and power tools, but I'd like confirmation. This unit is close enough to the DIY price point for something comparable but in a nice clean package. I'd like to spend a little extra for a polished product like this.

I'm a grandma and I was thrilled with your explanation of this generator but after so much info, my mind goes to mush. If I were charging this generator, how many of the solar panels that you mention would be needed to charge it? Will one panel work and if so, how long would it it take to charge? How many would you recommend?
@minutemanprep2 жыл бұрын
I don't personally recommend anything less than 1000w in solar, which is 10, 100w panels. They're very light and easy to set up. It cannot be charged with one panel. 1000w in panels will charge the Titan in about 2 hours on a clear sunny day while nothing is running off of the Titan.

You sure push this brand. You must get big commission.
@minutemanprep3 жыл бұрын
Everyone makes a commission, that's a reality. What matters is that people get what they pay for. in 22 months (since the Titan released), not one single other solar generator has delivered on what they promised. Look at the Jackery 2000, they claim 800w solar input, yet you are required to use their EXTREMELY expensive solar panels and even still cannot get close to the 800w solar input claimed. Isn't that false advertising? Isn't that misleading customers? When something comes out that's better than the Titan, I will tell everyone about it.

@minutemanprep4 жыл бұрын
Will do! I would recommend a swamp cooler. There are really good DIY swamp coolers that cost less than $50 and will use less than 100 watts of energy to run. That will easily run of a Titan with only 500 to 1000 watts in solar. The next step up is to get a small 5,000 BTU AC unit. That will run off of the Titan very easily as well but needs at least 1,000w of solar to make it worth while to keep the batteries topped off during the day. At night I'd for sure use the swamp cooler since it uses 1/5 the energy. I will have to do a video on that!

If i had access to thousands of new car batteries with dozens of types and sizes at my bug out location... can this connect to them?
@minutemanprep4 жыл бұрын
Yes. The only thing to keep in mind is when you attach a lead-acid battery to a lithium battery you automatically cut the lithium battery capacity in half. The lead-acid batteries also have to be wired in 24v not 12v. Since the internal and external batteries have to be the same voltage and the lead-acid/external batteries cannot go below 50% at the absolute lowest then you can only use 50% of the internal battery too. The Titan battery is 2,000wh. A car battery is often around 12v at 90a (1,080wh). But you have to cut in half the total capacity since you can't drain below 50%. So each battery is 540wh max capacity. So you will take the internal lithium battery down to 1,000wh usable capacity and will have to add two car batteries just to get back to 2,000wh essentially. Then you'll need to add 4 more just to double the size for a total of 6 car batteries. You also need to keep in mind that lithium still gives more power at lower voltages and runs better when the percentage is lower. But lead-acid batteries will give less power at lower voltages. All in all it makes a lot more sense to just get another Titan expansion battery rather than adding more lead acid batteries.

How many hours per 100watts will a single battery last?
@minutemanprep2 жыл бұрын

Are there fans in the Titan? If so, how often do they run and how loud are they?
@minutemanprep4 жыл бұрын
Yes there are multiple fans in the Titan. They have two speeds, low and high. They generally do not turn on at all unless you're running over 900w of equipment at once. When they turn on high they are very powerful and usually only run for 10 seconds or so and then turn off for awhile until the internal temp goes up enough to need them again. When the Titan is getting charged really fast the internal fans will turn onto low and it's very quite.

I have Solar Storm 100 panels with Neutrik connectors. Will they work with the Titan generator?
@minutemanprep4 жыл бұрын
Because of the proprietary connections that Inergy uses it's a little hard to use the Storm panels with the Titan. The Kodiak and Apex run an all parallel solar panel connection to work with those two units. The Titan uses a Series/Parallel system. Basically you can't go over 145v and 30a. 5 100w panels can make up to 30 amps. So if you have 5 Storm panels you may be able to just get the Neutrik to MC4 adapter and have that work with the Titan. @graceday72034 жыл бұрын
Hi- I found your videos while I was getting busy signals trying to order the 4 Patriots 1800 generator. Then I was completely sold on the Titan, until I called to order it. The fellow I spoke with agrees that it is one of the best, but an overkill for what we need it for - our sailboat. The weight and size are too much for our boat, and he suggested we check out the Eco Flow. We just need something to run a small heater at night, my husband's c-pap machine, an electric cooler, and maybe one or two other small appliances (but probably not often.) So, your videos have answered questions I didn't even know we had. Do you have any ideas or suggestions on the Eco Flow? Anything else we should know? We are concerned about finding a solar panel, since the flexible 100w one is pretty big for setting out on our deck. Thank you for the great information on your videos!
@minutemanprep4 жыл бұрын
Hey Grace, I'm not sure who you talked to but regardless of what solar generator you want to get it will not run a small electric heater through the night. An average small heater uses 750w. The EcoFlow Delta battery is 1,300wh and so you take 1,300wh ÷ 750w = 1.73hrs run time at MAX capacity at best. The Titan has a 2,000wh battery so it would be 2,000wh ÷ 750w = 2.6hrs. So it comes down to what you're running. The other items such as CPAP, electric cooler, and other small appliances are very easy to run off both of those units but the issue with the Delta is recharge speed since the max input is 400w of solar whereas the Titans solar input with 1 battery is 1,000w of solar. The biggest concern is that no solar generator I am aware of is rated to marine conditions. With heavy salt in the air and high humidity, no one knows how that will affect the internal components of solar generators. The other issue that you mentioned is space. How much room for solar panels do you have? If you don't have much then it's harder to get a larger system because it needs to be able to recharge well enough from the panels. Lots to consider.

True 13.8v DC plugs rated to 20 amps (again not one single other unit has that in the world). Full service 30 amp rv plug (almost every other unit that has an RV plug cannot truly put out 30 amps). Can actually reach 2,000 life cycles on lithium battery because of special charge setting... I can keep going. It is on par price-wise with other solar generators on the market. I'm not trying to shoot you down, I'm truly trying to understand how this unit is a ripoff. Please let me know your thoughts.
