Man I'm happy with KZbin recommendation. I was looking for a someone who makes content having actual industry experience, use of proper lingo, no BS and higher-level breakdowns. This was really good. Only other one I could find was the Indy Mogul breakdown series with the actual department member I did check out your personal work as well and quite liked it. Good job mate!

Hey Patrick, been loving the content you've been sharing with us! I had a question about how you mention often that exposure on the waveforms are kept really low down, to the point we're skin falls below 50, 40 and even 30 ire. What's the reason for DPs doing this and are they exposing like this in camera or bringing it all down in post? Would appreciate everyone else's insight on this also!
@candinmuniz3225
@candinmuniz3225 2 жыл бұрын
I am not a DP, I do not work in commercials, I am not an expert. This is just my guess. I'm thinking they edit it down in post. If they intentionally underexposed so heavily they would probably run into skin tone and general color problems when they go to color everything. Again, this is a guess, but I think the colorist did the work to bring everything down in this case.
@pdas25762
@pdas25762 2 жыл бұрын
@@candinmuniz3225 thanks for your reply! completely forgot I posted this. Since then I've worked as an assistant DIT on two Netflix productions. From what I've learned from them, DPs love to expose their image in camera like this. They are not afraid of having skin tones be in the 30-40% range (Even as low as 20%!). Hopefully this information is insightful for anyone with the same question I had a year ago!

I guess the hotspot in 7:07 is by two reasons. First, to recreate the kind of somber and hotspots from this kind of architecture, and second, to give the eye a reference of how dark everything is, since brightness is a perception based in contrast. If all would be dark, the eye would be able to just open the iris to compensate. Is my guess. If somebody have a better understanding would be great to hear it.
