It's amazing that 70's sci fi shows like this one, Blakes' 7, Sapphire & Steele and of course the Doc, with their terrible acting, ridiculously hammy villains and wobbly special effects are still loved and fondly remembered so much more than the abysmal reboots and remakes with all their cgi and PC scripts.

The violation of the base is like being burgled. Horrible feeling, someone who shouldnt be there, going through your stuff. Adds an edge to this episode, an uncomfortable one. Great writing.
