So many tools! I’d be dizzy! I got excited when I saw Bangor Pennsylvania! I’m in Pennsylvania! Then I realized it’s almost a 4 hour drive one way. I forgot how big Pennsylvania is! I’ll have to look it up and make a long day of it. I’ll get the missus to drive back. I’ll drive there and let her sleep on the way. Get there early. I just ordered my first Billings bicycle wrench! It gets here Monday they said. I can’t wait!

Thanks for the video Scout...Long time listener, first time caller here :^) I really enjoy markets like this. My favorite thing about them (and auctions) is finding that thing you never knew you needed. To the people who have a hard time finding deals, it takes a little work. I've been to dozens of auctions and even more sales. Sometimes I get good deals, sometimes I pay good prices for good stuff, and sometimes I walk away empty-handed. The main thing is that I've enjoyed every sale I've attended and have always made it a good experience.

One person's trash is another's treasure! I found 50 one quart re-usable Gem jars for canning fruit, at the recycling depot one time. My mom bought new lids, and used them for years. I think it was the same situation, where someone's 85 year old mother went to the nursing home, and the kids got stuck with cleaning out the house, and basement.

Jacktown (Blue Engine steam club) is very popular, a really nice event. There used to be an antique display there, a calliope (a 19th century steam engine that plays music). The elderly gentleman who owned it told me his calliope was quite rare, valuable, was made in Europe. He told me it has become illegal to export these historical pieces to U.S.. I had seen this gentleman at the Sussex County Fair, but not in recent times. He told me he only goes to the Jacktown Fair, it is the best in the area. This was several years ago. Jacktown Fair is run by two brothers. Really nice guys. It's a very nice event.

@stevef89936 жыл бұрын
The estate sales in upstate NY are a little different than on LI. They don't negotiate, charge sales tax, start by selling only by full tool boxes and then reduce prices by 25% the next day then 50%. It was very odd not being able to negotiate. Most times I would just walk away. I agree, the garage sales can be hit or miss. We do an initial drive-by to check it out but sometimes we get lucky for one item. It's all fun!!!

That was really interesting. Do people usually take a child’s wagon or a gardener’s wagon to these shows to haul the tools they purchase? One tip - slow down your panning a little; that one thing will make this type of video even more enjoyable. Thanks for sharing this - gives us something to look forward to.

Hello Anonymous98! Yes! You are right, the fast panning doesn't allow you to see much! I usually don't film by hand! Good tip! People bring all types of wagons and carts but my favorite is when they drive a lawn tractor and trailer a wagon!!! Thanks!!!!!

Terrific Video. I've never been to a tractor show, now I know where to get a good deal on quality old school made in USA bar clamps, which I really need for my shop. The Chineseum junk from HF just doesn't get the job done, the ratchets either slip their grip or seize up from the inevitable minor light surface rusting on the inferior steel components. I'll be searching for a tractor show near me, thanks to your tip.

WOW! There is nothing like this in South Florida. The guys don't get to bring their "good stuff" when they move down here!

Tim Brown dude, we are in the same boat. The flea markets here are now Chinese dollar stores and guys selling mismatched Pittsburgh tool sets that are only 2 years old and somehow rusty

I think that twice you commented that the little vises were as expensive as the big ones. Perhaps the reason is that they take up less room. If you’re just collecting old tools the smaller size would be an asset. They also might have been rarer, it seemed to me that all the men in my dad’s generation had some sort of workbench with a vise bolted to it. I never saw a little one until I was in my twenties and my boss loaned one to me that could be clamped to a sawhorse. I’m pretty sure I gave it back to him although I do have one about that size that I don’t remember where I got it from, but it’s definitely not Ralph’s.

How many times do you discover Mac or Snap On branded tools? I’m a big fan of both and we don’t have shows like up in your neck of the woods!!
