Quick note on "New Vegas Anti-Crash". A ways back, I was having massive crashing issues for Fallout 3. I had just finished a New Vegas playthrough with almost zero crashing because of NVAC, and it occurred to me that since the two games used the same engine, it might just work for Fallout 3...installed it and sure enough, it works fine. I went on Fallout 3 from crashing every 5 minutes to not crashing AT ALL. New Vegas Anti-Crash is brilliant! :)

Do not use NVAC. It hurts more than helps, it doesn’t stop the thing causing crashes, it just forces the game to try to not shut down which is very bad. If your game is properly set up you shouldn’t be crashing very much if at all.

Avoid Project Nevada like the plague, it's heavily outdated. I recommend Viva New Vegas instead, it's a vanilla+ modlist that is light on the computer.

Instead of Nevada skies use Altitude but NS will work. Instead of more perks use perk pack plus. Instead of FOMM use Mod Organizer 2. Read Viva New Vegas for more info.

Something I've noticed. Usually most mods take place in city's, towns, add new followers and sometimes new buildings in towns. But you never really see stuff actually out in the wasteland of new Vegas, like a gas station in control of fiends that you can take out to make a little home base, or something like a crashed pre war vertibird with a little side quest. To pick up a mini gun. "Add to the vastness of what is already created."

Facts. The dorky vanilla faces will always be the meta. But if you really want to "update" the appearances of the characters, I recommend Brave New World, unless you're really in it for the bugfest that FCO comes with.

Mods like EVE and Project Nevada are heavily outdated and broken and are NOT recommended to use. Everyone should follow the Viva New Vegas list to have the most stable setup. Most of this list is kinda bad and you should put a disclaimer.

@@leggotheeggodemon1323 No you're right, he isn't recommending these mods so it's not a big deal, but it is kinda dangerous to show these now imo. Also about EVE it might not be "outdated" per say but it does mess with a lot of different animations so it's very hard to make it compatible with other mods. Something like EXE is much easier to work with, however EVE is fine to use by itself.

Pretty easy to figure out why the body mods do better in Fallout 4 and Skyrim... the graphics are just a lot better, so you can make better looking female characters so people focus more on those kinds of mods there.

Those are hardly the best mods. Things like Imports from the Commonwealth, armor ports from games like CoD and even companions like Captain Price and soap. There are also modern guns that makes the gun play like modern shooters (Found in gunetwork, some in nexus and the best were in private discord servers.

Literally only two things on this list I actually agree with. The rest are horribly outdated and I DO NOT recommend using. Number 1: Project Nevada - A very old outdated mod that used hard data instead of scripts. You are better off using Stewie Tweaks, Johnny Guitar, and others like those that does what Project Nevada does but uses light weight scripts instead of hard data. This top 10 list did not age well. Number 2: EVE - This is used to be the golden child of improvements but has become a major problem on newer systems. It still relies on hard data and bloats your saves and causes a number of problems. Its no longer recommended using this on modern builds of your games. Number 3: Fallout Mod Manager - Actually DON'T use this. Its one of the worst mod managers you could choose to use and its even worse than NMM. I recommend Vortex. Its far easier to use, and already has everything like LOOT built into it. Fully automated making it easier and safer to plug and play. It also uses RULES to sort what should load first instead of having to micromanage everything like MO2 Number 4: FCO - This was a great overhaul for its time, but there has been far superior mods released since then that are far more lightweight and don't screw with your saves and doesn't cause so many errors like FCO can. Number 5: More Perks - Sounds great on paper, but the execution of this mod is loaded with errors that was never fixed by the author. Don't use. Number 6: Weapon Mods Expanded: another mod that was awesome at the time but is loaded with problems that will conflict with just about everything. I recommend at alternatives that uses scripts Number 7: NMC texture pack - This mod is a save game buster. It will bloat your saves and contribute to crashes. Because of the RAM issues already present in Vegas, this mod amplifies that existing problem to an extreme degree. Don't download. Nevada Skies should be ok in theory, but be mindful of the community on how to install this correctly without conflicts. Anti Crash is a MUST Mod Configuration Menu is a hard requirement. It may be old, but it works just as it should despite that. Always download this first. That's my list. It would take far to much text to list all the mods you SHOULD be using in the place of these I rebutted against

It's nice to see all of these mods are still up on Nexus. I used Gopher's new tutorial of essential mods for NV from 2020 i think. things ran great, then 76 came out and I didn't play for a while. Half my mods are no longer hosted on Nexus because of the mod pack dispute, and the game won't load. I need to hunt them down just to update them. It's easier to just reinstall the game.

honestly, you want all of the stability mods pretty much. i have many of them and between them i rarely crash at all. mostly there are certain locations that are still pretty unstable, such as Gomorrah.

Tbh you hardly even notice the additions project Nevada adds. There’s a reason why it’s still one of the most downloaded mods ever. It’s still one of my preferred mods. I don’t think b42 works well enough to justify replacing pn.

Over a 1000 hours in New Vegas, never crashed, actually my PC never crashes with games, and it's 13 years old. Even games like Guild Wars that crashes my friends Gaming Beast PC's, didn't happen with mine. Guess I'm lucky with it like that.

I've never had issues with EVE and Project Nevada. I still use them. It's order of operations. There are a plethora of guides out there telling you how to and what order to install each of these. My games are always stable.

I think the main issue is the outdated way the mod works and it impacts a lot of performance. From what I researched, Nevada mod runs a bunch of scripts every frane (about 20 scripts consistently) and it can majorly impact performance for a lot of people's PC's, especially older ones. I definitely noticed when I couldn't get past 100 FPS on my Nvidia 3060. Most of the features on Nevada have actually been ported out as single, more modern mods that work much better, increasing performance greatly.
