Try Torneko again. Made by the same company of the roguelike shiren the wandered franchise by chunsoft. I think that this game is easier than the shiren franchise by a bit. I mean it was not the RPG title you where maybe looking for at the time but at least it was a good representation of the Rogue: dungeons of doom done in a Japanese style of gameplay. Kinda like chess where you get better at the game with more practice at knowing how to counter certain enemies or when to use differnt items in your inventory effectively. Did this title come with a tutorial puzzle section to help grapple the different items? I know it's kinda a time sink to get a good grasp on these kinda titles. Working through my DS copy and the moment I was able to get a companion on the journey I was able to progress further down the line.

The only time I had a disappointing Christmas video game story was in 1993. My dad asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told him I wanted a couple more games for my Genesis because even though it came with Sonic 1 I only had maybe 1 or 2 other games that I don't remember at the time and most of the time my parents took me for video rentals. When I woke up at 2am or 3am my mom let me start opening my gifts. As I start peeling back the paper I see Superman. I couldn't understand why he picked that out of all games when I've never been a big Superman fan but I didn't want to hurt my dad's feelings so I pretended to be happy and gave him a big hug. My assumptions were right too because when I popped the game in I thought it was so awful. Even though I played it more since I had nothing else in my collection I kinda liked the game a little bit at certain parts but the game overall just has the bland graphics, lackluster Superman abilities, and both enemies and bosses are such hit sponges that make the game drag on way too long and it's so unforgiving with the continues. The next go round on my birthday in 1994 he shocked me when he bought me Streets Of Rage 3 but little did I know those two moments of Christmas in 1993 and my birthday in 1994 would be the last time I saw him as he passed away in November of 1994. I love you dad and I miss you the same 29 years later.

Its cool that you have so much footage of this stuff from when you were a kid! I'll say this, I have a few of terrible memories from a few specific incidents when I was a kid, not so perfect childhood BUT, my dad always made up for it by buying games for me and my brother. Which I realize sounds kind of messed up, but noone ever went to the hospital, broke a bone or was bleeding to death, so it's not quite as bad as it sounds but, there was 'some' abuse. The craziest one was when I was 15 and my dad was like, drunk or something, IDK, he never got drunk drunk but he had to have a few beers in him, and for almost no reason went OFF, and pushed over/broke my tv and my tv stand. Again this kind of stuff didn't happen often at all but, maybe once a year there was something like this. So, I was 15 and was bigger and could fight back, what did I do? I took the leg of the tv stand and hit him with it on the arm and cussed him out, and then he went and stayed the night at a hotel. Apparently I scared the shit out of him but my mom was already pissed and making him leave that night. This literally only ever happened twice where he had to leave like that in all the years living there. but, the very next day he took all the blame for it, and offered to take just me to Best Buy to buy me a new tv and stand. And not only did he do that, he bought me a FREAKING XBOX,,, mind you this was mid 2002, I had just got a Gamecube for christmas when it was brand new, Xbox was like 7 months old, I had got a PS2 my birthday the year before as well, I still had every other console in existance from earlier than that, and he was like oh hey you don't have that do you? Yeah, shit. Since you already had a tv and night stand, Im not really buying you anything you didn't have, so you can have the Xbox and 2 games. And that was 1 of the last times anything like that happened, some minor stuff later but, damn. He musta had some kinda life affirming shit that night at the hotel. He was never a bad guy, still isn't, his dad was violenter than me but, it was just wild how spoiled we were, whenever he did make a big mistake he made up for it with video games lol.

When you talked about seeing Surf Ninjas in a movie and being excited to play that I had that same experience but for a different generation! Mom took us to seebthe movie Disturbia with Shia LaBeouf and in the movie he plays Ghost Recon on his 360. Couple years later I got a 360 and was so excited to play that game! Love your channel!
