All I am saying: Before LeBron joins the Heat, the Heat struggled to get to the Finals; LeBron then joins them and they win 2 consecutive finals and the Cavaliers suck; LeBron then leaves the Heat to return to the Cavs, and the Heat suck, and the Cavs win a historic Finals. This is totally different than Durant's decision to join the Warriors, since the Warriors showed that they don't even need Durant to win.

That is true. The media picks and chooses who they like and who they hate. When they like you, like Jordan, they lower the bar until you can make it. They did this with Jordan. who they were already calling the best ever in 1986, while he was getting swept in the First round. Winning didn't matter then. They called him the best ever when he retired with 3 titles in 1993, even though Magic had five. Rings meant nothing back then. With LeBron, the bar keeps getting moved the more he accomplished. You would think after last year's Finals, he would have ended all that, but no, they simply created a whole new set of Labors for Hercules.

Well, those guys weren`t in Lebron's specific situation ever though. Lebron's specific situation is one of the most unique ever, really hasn`t been many polarizing players like him in a generation like this one where every step they take is covered. If Jordan lost one he's still 5-1 with no issues. If Lebron lost that one to be 1-3 after the party had generated so much hate, there's no question that loss would be damaging. Totally different situations.
@emmanuelenyinwa1443

Dom2k "If Jordan lost one he's still 5-1 with no issues. If Lebron lost that one to be 1-3 after the party had generated so much hate, there's no question that loss would be damaging." But, you are unwittingly participating in the false narrative by saying that. I personally thought LeBron should not have gone to Miami at all. I think by doing that, he succumbed to false narratives like the GARBAGE that he "needs rings to match Jordan". This is an article from Sports Illustrated in 1991. This was the year Jordan won his FIRST title. www.si.com/nba/2015/03/04/michael-jordan-sportsman-1991-vault-chicago-bulls "Is Jordan the greatest ever? A definitive answer is impossible, of course, as it has been whenever the question has been applied to Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird or Magic. But a case can certainly be made. Of that distinguished quartet, only Chamberlain could begin to match Jordan's pure athleticism. Put that aside for a moment, though, and consider Jordan's basketball skills and the way he plays the game." Notice they shy away from rings because his contemporaries, Magic had 5 and Bird had three. The ENTIRE analysis was based purely on Jordan's value on the court at the time. This sort of analysis has been done about LeBron by Pippen, Magic after Game 3 of last year's Finals, when he remarked that LeBron was "scoring like Jordan, controlling tempo like Magic, and dominating the paint like Wilt", and countless others who observe the simple fact that LeBron, pound for pound, is BY FAR a much more impactful player on a team than Jordan ever was, that the Bulls NEEDED Pippen's All around genius, Cartwright's low post defense, Grant's amazing mobility and grit (the Tristan Thompson of his time), and Paxson and Kerr's shooting to unclog the middle:

Emmanuel Enyinwa i actually participate in no narrative. where he goes or doesn't go has nothing to do with my opinion of him. that is you. i don't think he should have left nor stayed. it's not something i think about. therefore, it is you who is unwitting. do i respect brad sellers more than barkley because he has more rings? not me. makes no difference to me. he probably had to leave to win a ring but i really don't care about rings when talking about individual accomplishments or i can easily say will purdue is better than olajuwon. 3 > 2. rings mean nothing to me. that's a team accomplishment. unless i am willing to say robert horry is the second greatest player ever, i judge the play.

Short summary (factual): He's beaten Golden State, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City. He's lost to San Antonio twice, Dallas, and Golden State. Both championships won in Miami he was the league and finals MVP. He was also the finals MVP in 2016 (Steph Curry was the league MVP). His overall record in the finals is 3-4. My take (as a Spurs fan): He is by far the best player in the league by overall contributions to the team. Every team he has been on in the past six years has reached the finals. His first loss with Cleveland was a joke, as he had no team. His second loss with Miami was a lack of team effort. His loss against Golden State was more or less due to team injuries. Before you mention Kobe or Michael, remember that all the championship teams those two played on had key niche players. There were rebounders, defensive specialists, and sharpshooters. Jordan couldn't have beat the spurs in 2007 himself, nor could Kobe have become the savior in the 2015 finals. The only finals I hold LeBron solely accountable for is the 2011 series against Dallas. I honestly hope he continues to go to the finals. I don't hate the man at all. He's a very respectable individual and does a lot for the community as well. -my $.02 #gospursgo

lebron could play like kobe, jordan, and how all these guys like harden ,derozen are playing at the beginning of this season, going off every game trying to win the scoring title in 2 weeks, but he's been there done that, he waits till playoff time, then plays good all around basketball, and when he really needs to, he'l go into major scoring mode like we've seen before. James just has different mind sets approaching the game of basketball.

Lebron has a reputation for taking possessions off, but it's a little ridiculous to say that a guy who was All-Defensive first team 5 years in a row has suspect defense. He was a monster on that end in Miami.

Agent of Chaos I think lebron got lazy on d because he is getting older. He doesn't go out his way to lock people down or make blocks anymore. I remember in the 50 pt game against the spurs by kyrie, lebron held Kawhi to 0 points in OT. He was also the only player to have a 50 point games against San Antonio in nba history before kyrie. People don't consider his ppg avg is higher than kobe and carmelo.

Agreed. That's the characteristic for the greatest among them all. Jordan could step it up even higher, LeBron can, look at Kobe's last game on those old legs and you know enough, Wilt could do it, Bird, Magic and Bill Russell. There are just some extraordinary players every once in a while who are that good that they only get truly challenged several times during their career. Jordan fell to the Pistons, LeBron to the Mavs but both returned stronger. Don't compare other players stats to them 'cause we don't even know the heights where they can go to, LeBron could easily be an even better scorer which is scary when you consider the possibility of passing Kareem as number 1 all time, Jordan could have developped a three point shot if he wanted to but he never needed it, Bird was miles ahead of a KD for example in terms of toughness,leadership, stepping his game up in the playoffs etc. After being a Hall of Famer there's still this exclusive circle, the legends and legends should be respected whether you like them or not

I'm not a big Laybrun fan myself but I love and respect this vid. It was real as hell. I'm only 21 and did not watch too much NBA outside of my Knicks until the last few years. So as much as I see Kobe as one of my fave players ever, I feel like I did not get enough of him. I really didn't watch any of Crazy 8 besides the highlights. With that said, I've watched a crap ton of LeBron and while I do not think he will surpass Jordan (and not Kobe just yet) I dont think it matters. I'm glad I've witnessed such transcending talent. The speed, power, passing, athleticism, the ridiculous highlights, the drama, basically being a Final Boss for WCC for 6 years is all something that is just awesome to be a part of.

Obviously Jordan and LeBron are different players in basketball and I mean Jordan absolutely could no do what LeBron did that finals. Same goes for LeBron doing what Michael did against the jazz. people call lebron a choke artist because of his performance in the 2011 finals. even though he has risen to the occasion time and time again since with legendary clutch performances. imagine people calling dirk nowitzki a choke artist because he lost to the 07 we believe warriors as the 1 seed and had only 8 points in the game they got eliminated. it is foolish because it is a tiny portion of his illustrious career and the same can be said for lebron.

Dom2k It's insane to think that at this point in his career he could retire and be remembered as a top 3 player of all time and he still has a lot of good years left. Even if he doesn't win another nba title, you can't dispute how great he is. He's done basically everything to prove himself and the people who give him shit about his finals record are retarded. 1 of them, he was basically all by himself on a crap team and STILL took them to the damn finals. That alone is impressive enough. Rings aren't the most important thing and way to measure someone's greatness, especially considering how good some teams are atm. Just look at gsw. Would you really trash talk lebron for losing another finals if he comes up against literally the most stacked team in nba history?

We got a glimpse of Kobe Bryant minus a Hall of Fame coaching staff and all-time great Center. It wasn't pretty. Don't forget, had the front office not brought Phil back and acquired Gasol, Bryant very conceivably could've/would've forced a trade. Kobe had a fantastic career emulating Jordan. Idk why people hate LeBron so much, especially making fun of his finals record like 4 of the losses he had to carry an extremely sorry Cavs team (I’m a Cavs fan myself), so where he actually wasn’t playing basically by himself, he’s 3-2. And even if he went 0-9 in the finals, the fact that’s he visited 9 is insane and impressive enough even if he were to lose them all.

If the Warriors won the 2016 Finals everyone would be saying Curry carried them and Lebron choked but the Cavs won and now all people say the Cavs only won because of Kyrie... Lmao people are so stupid now, they just can never accept Lebron's greatness. I'm a big Kobe fan and will still choose Kobe over Lebron every time but i'll admit that Lebron is better

All series are rigged. All of them. I am an enormous fan of LeBron and hoops in general. But with all that money on the line and potential big finals matchups, the league cannot afford a "small market" matchup. I would prefer to see the smaller teams have their chance to win the chip. But that is just not the case sadly.

+S3TO1234 I wouldn't say that but what I will say is that everyone wanted to see a part 2 of the warriors they felt that it was stolen from James becuz if kyrie wasn't injured and if u wanna say Kevin Love they had that lol even though he didn't contribute much this playoffs.

Christian Harrison The finals were set very early in the season. I was telling everyone I knew that it would be Cavs in 7. You could probably find it in some ESPN First take comment sections on KZbin. I appreciate basketball for the beauty of the game and as a huge Lebron supporter since he played his rookie season, I was very happy to see him win one for the Land. It should have been Cavs Thunder but as you stated everyone wanted to see part 2 with a potential greatest season ever as the dominant storyline. Draymond should have been suspended game 5 vs the Thunder as he should have not been suspended game 5 vs the Cavs. With that being said if you believe that the league is on the up, then please continue to enjoy :)

+S3TO1234 Good statement I agree and to just say I'm a James fan too I never left his side or even doubted him. Every time a game jumped off I had to get in arguments at scl abt basketball abt how warriors taking this one and curry is unstoppable. Knowing me I said all that I could say defending him and saying we'll see, then I said y'all forgetting who we are talking abt. This is James we're talking abt and I said just wait. the next game we won. The next game we won game 7 we won. I literally clowned everyone who was bandwagon fans just becuz of the warriors success. They didn't have anything to say. What I'm saying is that ppl will switch up and follow who ever has the public eye the most. With that being said everyone was a Cleveland fan before he went to the heat. Then everyone was a Heat fan before he went back to Cleveland. Heat was dead they didn't have anymore chances of a championship but James gave them their life back the motivation they was missing. Then he goes back home James is still the favorite. This warriors team comes out of no where and challenged the Cavs the only thing was he didn't have his side kick Kyrie. Now the warriors done won, and now all of a sudden Curry is better then James. The warriors may take it again. Now curry is overrated and all James fans are now Curry fans. Everyone jumped of the bandwagon except for ppl like us. He said he promised and all we had to do is believe in this man and support him and look what happened he delivered his promise. I know it's kind of long lol

abby gutierrez when Lebron is top 3 in scoring top 10 in assists rebounds and steals with 4+ rings/finals mvps and 4+ mvps he will be the goat. He will have the numbers, just needs to carry his team to one or two more rings.

IzmSkizm1 I'm so ready for him to be named GOAT. I mean honestly rings don't mean shit. There was one dude who played for a lot of west teams and had like 6 rings. But he was bench. So there's some ammo next time someone tells you he didn't have as many rings as Jordan
@Izm_Skizm
@Izm_Skizm 7 жыл бұрын
abby gutierrez he already has 3 rings, 4 MVP's, 3 Finals MVP's (by the way there's no 'playoff' MVP'S) ......and he has like 6-7 more years. Notice I said "when it's all said no done". I believe that. And I have Jordan's as well as Lebrons. What am I not allowed to do that? No doubt Jordan is the GOAT. But he's throwing a lot of salt at Lebron. Maybe he feels salty? I think he feels a way.

Great video. I really appreciate you taking the time to provide thorough context for the backstory of all those moments you mentioned. As far as LeBron, it's a really complicated situation. He's the most divisive professional athlete ever. The most scrutinized athlete ever in global sport. The most complex. All those things, coupled with a few mistakes on his part have muddied the aspects of his game that are unprecedented. Could make an easy argument he's the most valuable player ever. The teams he dragged to the Finals, the performances against markedly better teams/organizations throughout, and his individual performances in the playoffs against some of the best two way players in recent memory (Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, Paul George, Andre Iguodala, Kawahi Leonard, Paul Pierce, etc). He's paid the iron price for his greatness, while being the first major celebrity athlete to come up during the rise of 24 hour news, also being compared to arguably the greatest ever, out of high school, "opinion guy" analysts at networks making their careers based on attacks of him, social media and possession to possession over analysis and scrutiny. No comp for any of those dynamics. His predecessors got to be themselves, and define who they were. And, the book on legacy demerits closed once they won championships (EX: Lakers 20+ point blown lead in Boston in 2008, missed playoff years, and first round flameouts aren't held against Kobe because the book on scrutiny was closed to a degree, once he was established as a winner). For their to be so few significant mistakes on LeBron's resume is a credit to who he is as a person. If Kobe/Jordan/etc played entire careers in this era, we would look at everything surrounding them differently. They had the luxury of largely becoming legendary in a (really, the last) time where it was enough for athletes to just be great/entertaining. Back when there was a semi pure love for sports and pro athletes. All in all, great vid. LeBron does so much, his game is difficult to characterize. Back to back 40 point games, and a closeout triple double, but also, three straight games with 3 blocks. He's made so many amazing plays on defense, as a point guard, etc. What'll be the best legacy bump for him when it's time for the historians to look at his achievements in totality, what every LeBron led team looked like without him. How the Cavs went from winning 60+ games for multiple consecutive years, to being the worst team ever when he went to Miami. How the Heat missed the playoffs after he left. How a dismantled Cavs team took a far superior Warriors team 6. What the point differential and +/- for every team he's ever played on looked like when he wasn't on the floor. How far the drop is. Jordan's Bulls won 50+ games and were a game away from the Eastern Conference Finals while he was in retirement playing Baseball. LeBron has never had a team nearly as good, which is why it'll also be a massive legacy bump that he has so many Finals appearances/great performances in it on his resume in spite of the fact that he's always had the lesser team, and played against arguably more all time great teams in the Finals than almost any great ever. Quite the career. Eager to see how the backend of it looks.

the elites leader if your argument is fg% or 3p% then your dumb, Kobe shoots 60-70% jump shots and lebron “shoots” like 80% layups/dunks. If your argument is 3p%, we’re looking back on people 5 years ago wondering how well they would shoot, Kobe started his prime probably in 2004 and ended in 2011, if Kobe had a decent team with good shooters like everybody has today he would probably shoot 44 - 46% from three. Kobe has the stereotype of being a shot chucker but who is he going to trust to shoot the last shot? Shaq? Smush Parker? Pau Gasol? One of them can’t shoot for shit, one can slightly stretch the floor but shouldn’t be trusted for the last shot, and one is literally joked about because of how bad he is
