The 2010 Finals was so competitive.. The Lakers should of won game 5 in my opinion behind Kobe's 38 pt dominance.. But we blew it at the end.. Game 6 we blew Boston out & Game 7 was just a cage match

it's funny how people say that Perkins injury in game 6 of the 2010 finals cost them the championship, but i don't hear a word about Ariza & Bynum absent from all the games of 2008 finals (yes i know that ariza played 5 games, buy he only came back from a difficult injury straight to the NBa finals and played 35 min total). and also let's not forget that Bynum played on one leg the entire 2010 playoffs so so don't give that kendrick perkins injury shit!

Kobe had a lot to lose from the game. That said Lakers defense won the series more than anything which Kobe and Artest were both phenomenal at. The 4 Games Lakers won they held Boston to 89, 84, 67, and 79 points some pretty low scoring affairs on the Celtic's part. While Perkins gets brought up and people say KG wasn't the same, people ignore Kobe had a seriously bad knee which relegated him to mostly shooting jumpers, he also had a broken index finger on his shooting hand and another arthritic finger also on his shooting hand. Bynum of course too was struggling with knee issues all series they both him and Kobe had knee surgery in the 2010 offseason which not try to take away from the Mavs but it cost the Lakers a chance at the threepeat.

Last 2 games of the 2010 Finals Bynum could barely stand on the court and scored a total 4 points, 2 in each game. He was our third best scorer averaging 15 ppg during the season yet in the finals he could barely walk the whole series. His limited mobility hurt the Lakers much more than Perkins missing 1 game hurt the Celtic.

I remember this game so vividly because I wanted rondo aka Mr triple double Sunday to win but I remember the exact stat of 6-24 and kobe looked for the most part like he was trying to win it by himself... it's like with every miss the pressure was building on him but boston couldn't quite pull away it was weird... kobe had no control all game then all of a sudden high right post jab step pump fake to a one dribble pull-up... soon as that shot when in it was like an uppercut you knew the ko was coming

Pau was definitely a gift from Jerry, and a message, saying I know I’m gone and I know you’re pissed, but you are a Laker and are always meant to be. That was his way of keeping Kobe there. - Jerry is always a Laker at heart, and him not being affiliated with them is business, not personal.

As soon as I saw the title I knew the video would have something to do with the 2008 finals. I remember having this exact conversation with my older brother as soon as the Celtics won by 39 points! If Kobe didn't get another ring without Shaq he'd never be allowed in the 'best of all time' conversation and would just be a great player for the rest of his career.

I feel like I should have fleshed out my compliment more than just those few words. Otoh, that'd almost assuredly produce another of my super-long comments and, perhaps, what I did say was enough. I'll add that I've been a "rabid" NBA-ABA-NBL fan since the 1959-60 season and think of myself as considerably less biased than the average fan (with my main tendency to be to appreciate: great plays & games by great players and teams more than "homerist" type considerations). This is the biggest reason why I find your analysis so impressive here - you've focused in on how important this one game might well have been to people's general feelings about Kobe's career (without getting into your own view of just how great he might have been).

If LeBron had *half* the team Kobe had he would have beat the Spurs in 07. In 15 when LeBron single handily carried the injured Cavs to 6. If he had more help he would have won. And in 17 when LeBron averaged a *triple double* in the finals, if his team stepped up they could have won. *Could have*. That's 2-3 more rings that would make his career 4-4 or 5-3.

Im glad you talked about how everyone had a horrible offensive night in game 7 and that Kobe had two clutch offensive plays that game. The change he made that night was baiting out double teams and passing to the open player. He didnt get many assists, but he put his offense in foul position, which is how vast majority of lakers points were scored. And this led to the ron artest 3. Celtics fully expected kobe to ball hog, but he matured and he used it to his advantage.

Also, kobe had a broken finger in that game 7 against Boston, which definitely affected his shot. Also that orlando team was a better overall team than those sixer and nets teams, and was probably the 2nd best team he played in the finals behind those Boston teams.

Even with this win people will always try to tear down his legacy. People will always say Shaq carried him, most of which probably weren’t born, didn’t watch or just hate him in general. Thanks for the video man, everyone else, stop ripping legends. Have your favorites, that’s fine, but recognize greatness for what it is. Don’t get your panties in a bunch because someone said Kobe was better than your favorite player and you just can’t accept that. Kobe’s my favorite of all time, but I’m willing to admit there are probably 6 or 7 who I’d put above him on an all time list. If everyone just enjoyed greatness and was unbiased with their favorites, things would be much better with fans. Cheers

Difference between Kobe and Bron is that Mamba could go 6/24 and still win the chip. Kobe won despite a potential legacy ruining game but if Lebron has/had a bad game his team gets killed. Imo that proves who's truly better. MJ still the goat so don't come here with that bs. When Kobe or Bron can get 6, we'll talk. That puts Kobe out the discussion and Bron is half way there.

Which means that Lebron has had to work with less and carry most of the load himself. If anything, that proves that Lebron is better. Congratulations. You played yourself
