I've won games solely focusing on the strength attribute when selecting the team...picking the strongest players. You can often see in the opposition team report "not the strongest of teams and could easily be out muscled by stronger opponents. Combine strength with pressing hard and getting stuck in and you end up "bullying" the opposition

It's all about 'player DNA'. To be at my club a player needs to demonstrate the following; 1. Fitness - I want physically imposing players (so look at natural fitness, stamina, pace, acceleration & strength) 2) Personality & Work Ethic - Strong characters who work hard & won't wilt under pressure (professional personalities, work rate, team work, determination, composure) 3) Intelligence - footballing intelligence so they adhere to the tactic & make the best decisions in-game (anticipation, concentration, decisions, bravery, vision, otb/positioning) 4) Ability - only if they can demonstrate much of the above do I actually then look at their technical ability This way I can avoid a squad of Darren Andertons, Delli Allis or David Bentleys (rule of thumb - just avoid Spurs completely)

I like this, do something similar myself work rate and determination are always the starting point.

I like using vision or decisions in a counter attack scheme - getting defensive players to make the pass that springs the counter. You can get away with attackers who are “just okay”, but smart defenders are key!

Oh I be 100% focused on the mentals. If I have a player who not performing as expected its usually his decision making is not as good as his ability would suggest. Decisions making is the 1st thing I look for after physicals. Won the sky bet championship with what I thought was a good team but was average except it was number 1 for decision making. Anticipation is another key attribute I rate highly for all positions. When your playing twice a week natural fitness becomes very important. Think pace and acceleration have become more important now as you can put on a fast player against tired players with 30 minutes to go and cause chaos

For me, first touch is important to prevent those dangerous turnovers in possession particularly in the defensive third. Good video👍🏻

It really depends on the team , the league and style of play. You don't need smart players if you're playing long ball in league two. You do smart players playing a possession based game in the premier League.

10:00 Also: Defender to get stuck in, Keeper's tendencies to rush out in one-on-ones, grabbing crosses from a crowd (assuming he already has good handling and aerial reach).

I'm pretty obsessed with making sure my players have good decisions for the level I'm at. Low decisions is usually a deal breaker

I don't think it's the most important but I really dislike buying players without good long shots and flair, I just love to see my boys curling the ball in like a sniper!

2:10 Harry Maguire (caught in no-man's land when the team isn't using offside trap), goalkeeper with high rushing tendencies giving up goals because they rush out at the wrong time and get burnt...

Never ever use the ridiculous attributes SI suggest for roles , testing has put that to bed , it's all about position and acceleration and pace for all positions , and then variants of decisions , dribbling , strength, I can't remember them off hand but it's only about 8 or so around the positions depending on attack or defence. My one pet peeve with SI is that they lay out 15 and 20 attributes for roles which mean nothing and leave new players confused as to what are important. Considering all we have to judge players in the game are attributes, its about time SI gave an updated and more intuitive way of showing us which attributes are needed , yes you can use football knowledge and want various attributes that are in the real game , but FM has never been able to replicate real life , some attributes have zero impact in the game because of the ME . Since finding out about the attribute testing it makes the game much more enjoyable trying to find the right players rather than guess.

@@jb0609 not wrong bud , people have proven the attributes that have the most affect , the attributes outlined in roles aren't true , and basically useless , ive done hundreds of tests, and using the attributes suggested by SI are worthless
