Thank you so much for putting together a video mix of the easiest dishes you've made and for featuring my Nasi Telor Kicap submission! I'm glad you enjoyed it and that others can try it as well. I made the Chocolate tofu pie dish and I can see why it's a favourite! It's absolutely delicious and I couldn't believe it was made using tofu 🤩 If you're ever planning on doing a video featuring recipes using Kicap Manis, there are loads of fantastic dishes that we could reccomend! 😋Can't wait for next weeks video! 💖 Also, just to clear up a few of the comments, Nasi Telur Kicap is a dish that is eaten in Singapore, Malayasia and Indoniasa and is not 'claimed' to be originated from Singapore. Our neighbouring SEA coutries have many dishes that overlap and are very similar across the region.

Nasi goreng kecap is something very common in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. It's so easy that my 4th grade could make it myself. And it's so satisfying and could really hold your hunger. Even now i still make it for my extremely lazy days. Also that kecap manis is an ESSENTIAL in-again- Indonesian, Singaporean and Malaysian household. Even if you don't cook, there's no way you don't have it in your kitchen. That's how essential it is. You should try more recipes that include the sauce! I'm so happy that you like it

It's rare to see anything involving Iraqi culture on English KZbin channels that I follow ♡ lol How my family cooks lentils soup is by simply washing the lentils in the same pot you use for cooking then adding water just enough to cover the lentils( cause parents say lentils cook faster with less water) add water as much as you need till the lentils cook completely then add salt, cumin, curcumin, black peppers and bouillon cook it a bit more then mix it in whatever gadget you have to turn into smooth liquid After that you saute some onions and garlic in fat until it becomes aromatic to end splashing them in the soup 🍲

I feel like I am taking care of myself, that I am not missing out, and that I am totally worth something healthy and delicious. OK - It doesn’t always have to be health- but most of the time anything made at home is less expensive and better than store bought . I do not recall if I said this the first time around, with 3 cup mushrooms: unless there is a reason the garlic needs to be fried or browned, add it after your onions. It prevents browning and burning, which is not required or desired for the majority of recipes. Love you!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗💗💗💗💗💖💋💋💋💐🇺🇸

shourbat addes is so good on a yucky day, though we typically make it with water in my family, and as the lentils and water boil, in my family we typically fry up an onion with some garlic couriander seeds and red pepper flakes, then pour that in the soup to stew, and yes the lemon is key, also also, gotta have it with freshly toasted pita chips for sippits, its the best bread to use for the soup

So surprised to see Beryl pulled out Maggi Chili sauce, when I was growing up in Malaysia, you eat Maggi chili sauce with everything, including fried rice, eggs, everything. When we have French fries from the street stall, they were served in a clear sleeveless plastic bag, and we will squeeze tons of chili sauce in it and shake it before we digged in. Also very great when Maggi chili sauce is mixed with mayonnaise too.

Chips mayai was so interesting for me! In Spain we have this dish called Spanish omelette or tortilla de patata using pretty much the same ingredients. Instead of fries you thinly slice or dice the potatoes, add onnions if you want, fry those slowly in olive oil until soft and slighly crispy and then add beaten eggs. Simple but delicious, the texture if cooked properly is amazing

I'm late but rule of thumb for herb gardening is that if the stem is square it is in the mint family and mint plants typically grow and spread like wildfire if left to its own devices. so, if you want to grow anything in the mint family, you'll want to grow them in individual large pots which will both give them space to grow while preventing them from spreading. furthermore, try to keep an eye out for when they start to flower and deadhead them to prevent their seeds from spreading as well. this also ensures the flavor of the plant stays potent. plants in the mint family can become invasive pretty fast so stay vigilant when growing them.

Can we have a video where we share what we eat after school as children? When I was a kid, my family hired a nanny for my youngest sister and she usually cooked fried food! There are two food I'd usually eat after school and they are hot rice, sweet soy sauce, and scrambled eggs (no milk, you need to use oil, salt and pepper to the egg, and there will be crispy bits and soft bits and slightly dry but still kinda oily or just do everything against what the western scrambled eggs). The other one is a fried food platter which includes dadar jagung and ote-ote (bala-bala). There are lots of recipes in the internet but back then my nanny did a good job at making them super crispy and tasty! I also eat it with rice and the hot steaming rice with the salty and savory fried food

Oh, if my parents was home before I got home, and they make / buy noodles, I will immediately wolf it down. It's a different style of noodle, and my family does have a recipe for it, but I don't know how to say it because it's the 'estimation recipe'. Which includes fish sauce, mid soy sauce as the sauce base, lard and garlic as the oil base, and thick egg noodles as the noodle topped with homemade wontons (or store bought one if you're lazy but I usually use the pork, shrimp, mushroom wontons), a half boiled eggs, fried shallots, and chopped green onions. Maybe another video idea of what do you eat on your birthday? Because this is also what we eat on any of our birthdays (cakes are not important, but this specific noodle recipe)

Easy tofu dish is from my in-laws. It’s just fresh tofu cut into cubes covered in soy sauce a lots of sliced green onions. It’s a summer dish. Considering their house in japan does not have AC, cold dishes in summer are a must. Another simply dish is simply sliced cucumbers with a thin spread of miso paste on them. Omg sooooo good.

I made the shortbat adas today with some lentils I had pressured cooked and frozen. Threw them frozen right into the chicken broth. Turmeric, cumin, ground masala, smoked paprika, bay leaves & Trader Joe’s black garlic seasoning. I had to swap celery for a bell pepper because I didn’t have celery! But that’s ok because this turned out fantastic! My house smells so good and warm right now 😌 it’s gotten very cold and rainy this fall where I live in the north. Thanks for the recipe and inspiration to actually cook something interesting at home!

Nasi Kecap probably not just Singaporean dish but more to Indonesia and Malaysian which brought to Singapore immigrant later, well it's so simple after all, even japan got even simpler dish where the eggs is raw ( need freshly good eggs), just egg, rice, and shoyu and then stir

Dear Beryl. Thai basil is awesome. It tastes different than basil in America used primarily for pesto. Thai basil is more licorice in flavor. It’s great with lavash bread and feta cheese!

Just try this : Heat coconut oil in a pan, once the oil start smoking, turn down the flame and add 2-3 whole kashmiri chillis to the oil. Add two pinches of salt. When the chillies have a coat of oil turn off the flame. You intend to roast the chillies not burn them. Let it cool for a while. Once the oil is cool, crush the chillies. Add plain yogurt to this and mix well. Pour it over cooked white rice for a traditional south indian comfort meal. It takes all of 5 minutes
