Soooooop many CU fans (likely new cfb fans who clearly didn't know much about ball) were talking 15-0 national champs. The fan base, at least a very vocal group, were delusional.

Louisville was not a shell, usc was a shell. That team usc played was most of the first string only on offense two or three players sat out. But yeah disappointing season for usc.
