There's a mistake at 6:27. Canty says that if Kf3 then the knight comes in with Ne6. However, Ne6 is a blunder which would allow the e pawn to promote. Instead, the knight has to move to Nf7!
@matthewviramontes31313 жыл бұрын
Good catch, but you're only half right. The problem with Ne6 isn't that it allows the pawn to promote, because it can stop that actually, however, it's that after the Knight trades for that pawn the Black King is in such a position that it will promote one of it's other pawns

The blunder I will never forget is game 9 in 2013 between Carlsen vs Anand. In this game Vishy Anand was world champion playing against the younger Magnus Carlsen. In the game, Vishy allows Magnus to promote pawn to queen because Vishy has a very strong attack. However, he didn't defend his king and uses the wrong piece to block and now Vishy attack is worthless because Carlsen queen blocks his attack and also Carlsen has 2 queens. This was the game changer and Carlsen only needs a draw in game 10 to become world champion, which he did, deserving well.
@5t0rm23 жыл бұрын
If you are confused by the 3rd blunder, it's because the explanation in the video is completely wrong. The real reason why Kf3? at 6:25 is throwing away the advantage for black is the move Nf7 by white (the only move that doesn't lose for white). If white follows up Kf3? with Ne6? as shown in the video, then the pawn will promote after e2, then Kf2 if white tries Kd2, and white is too slow with the knight. However, if white plays the move Nf7 after Kf3?, the game is a draw. If black pushes his pawn with e2, white plays Ne5+ with a tempo on the black king on f3, allowing Nd3 which guards e1 in time before the pawn can promote. The reason why Kg3 is winning for black, is because white doesn't get the tempo after Ne5 and is too slow to stop the pawn.

In 6:00 he must have played knight to b7 taking the black pawn and on the next move as the black's pawn goes ahead for to e2 then white must have played knight to c5. And then when black goes for a queen he must have thought of knight to d3 which is a game over move for black by white.

10:05 I am not finding too much advantage for Black (Vishy) in this position. After, Rh4 by white, black should play b5 to prepare escape route for the Knight and white will win back both c5 and h6 pawns. Correct me if I am wrong.
@ganeshangopalan93524 жыл бұрын
Since, pawns are on the both sides of the board, White Bishop pair is much more stronger than Bishop and Knight even if Rooks get exchanged. Endgame will favor carlsen only, even if he is down a pawn.

Kinda hard viewing Magnus's blunder as a blunder because Anand missed it, but I guess on that level it's like not taking your opponent's hanging queen.
@mikahamari59943 жыл бұрын
It is a blunder because he gave Anand a chance to exploit it. In football (soccer) this would be bad pass on defence that gives a goal chance to attacking team, but they miss that chance. It is bad pass anyway even if they get away with that. It is also a blunder to be unable to exploit it. Judgement of blunder is relative to our knowledge. Move that was sometimes considered to be good may be recognized as blunder by modern chess engine or neural network like Stockfish or Lc0. Some day 1. e4 may be recognized as blunder. It would mean that the game of chess is then solved by the computers.

Miraculously, Bxh2 wasn’t the losing move. Bobby still could have saved his position. His true blunder was that at some point in the game, Bobby played king on d5 to e4. He really should have played a6 instead, hoping to blockade Spassky’s queenside pawns on light squares so that Spassky’s dark squared bishop could not defend them. After that, it’s all a matter of trading your three kingside pawns for Spassky’s one and picking off Spassky’s pawns on the queenside.
