While Courser of Kruphix is a good card and offers you an advantage it does put you at a disadvantage in certain decks that have game ending cards. Let's say you are running Triumph of the Hordes, or Craterhoof and after you play the land off the top of your deck that's the next card. Your opponents now know they are in trouble and you gave them a turn to either answer you or find an answer to get rid of it. I was surprised Sylvan Library wasn't on here. Wordly Tutor, Llanowar Elves / Birds of Paradise. There are so many great green cards for commander. A lot of the cards I agree with on the list but there are so many great green staples.

Without looking at the video and maybe too much thinking about it, these are my conclusions for these 8 cards: Honorable Mentions: Gaea's Cradle (Not a green card) Lifecrafter's Bestiary (not a green card) Zendikar Resurgent The 8 in no particular order Kodama's Reach/Cultivate (I don't want to spam the list with ramp only cards) Craterhoof Behemoth Sylvan Library Eternal Witness Rishkar's Expertise Seedborn Muse Oracle of Mul Daya Doubling Season
@xcver5 жыл бұрын
Now after watching the vid. Sure Beast Within, but I personally would Rank Song of the Dryads higher than that. Even if it is not instant speed. The ability to circumvent the commander going to the command zone is a very very big plus. But Asceticism? From my experience it doesn't do that much anymore. I face more boardwipes than pinpoint removal and most of it is not regeneratable...also it being on the field makes it much less useful than Heroic Intervention IMHO. Courser of Kruphix over Oracle of Mul Daya seems dubious to me

Some other Suggestions: Rancor - Goreclaw, terror of Qal Sisma - Rhiskar's Expertise - Terastodon (removes 3 planeswalkers for 8 mana) - Burgeoning - Lurking Pedators - Sylvan Library - Season's Past - Constant Mists - Berserk - The great Aurora - See the Unwritten. Secret Bonus suggestion for green decks with good mana ramp (even mono) - Void Winnower. It was won me countless games, especially when i can just pay 11 by turn 5 or cheat it into the battlefield even earlier. I have only had and maintained 1 single edh deck since the beginning and that's Omnath Locus of Mana. I always like to check the newest sets for new toys for my omnath. The reason for only 1 deck is mostly because I'm a very casual player that can't build decks to save my life other than braindead mono green which is just big creatures and so on. That and monetary reasons. Although I'm trying to build the 25€ sen triplets deck but I'm stuck on the fact that sen triplets itself is another 25

My personal auto include for ramping in any green deck is Skyshroud Claim because it works very well in multicolored decks where you can tutor for shocklands and put them untapped. It also costs 4 but gives 2 back, making it feel like a 2cmc costed spell sometimes, compared to Cultivate/Kodama which cost 3 and give none back during that turn. Also sadly, the must have in all green decks in my opinion would be Gaea's Cradle, but the price is...

i'd say that sylvan library and some of the tutors (defense of the heart, pattern of rebirth, green sun Z, or natural order) should've been in here somewhere.
@paulszki2 жыл бұрын
I think sylvan library needs SOME work to actually do something. It's incredibly powerful, yes but you the rest of your deck still needs to accommodate it in some ways like with shuffle effects or effects that turn card draw into other effects, like the onslaught "words of ...." enchantments. It feels like a card that is really strong only, when the rest of your deck is also really strong (e.g. Fetchlands). A card like Beastmaster's Bestiary is WAY less powerful because of it's higher and ongoing manacost but it's easier to just put into any green deck, even budget ones. (also, having to shuffle your library less in commander games is kind of a plus in my book.) But mostly, yeah... all of the cards you mentioned could have easily been on the list.

Incase you're not being sarcastic, you should try pairing it with draw replacement effects like dredge or Abundance etc. Because if you didn't draw it you don't have to put it back

I think there is an even more important card for green: basic forest
@jjohansen865 жыл бұрын
Others have mentioned each of these, but I think two additional recent cards work in almost any green commander deck: The Great Henge and Guardian Project. Both of these draw you cards when you play creatures, which almost any green deck wants to do. The Henge is expensive if you don't have any big creatures (though you're a green commander deck, are you not going to run big creatures?), but it does also ramp you, grow your team, and I guess gain you life (though 2 per turn doesn't usually make a huge difference in EDH), so it feels like very few green decks will not want to run it. Those two cards are engines that help push green over the top, shoring up what could otherwise be one of green's greatest weaknesses in Commander (along with Lifecrafter's Bestiary, which you mentioned). And, as we all know, card draw and ramp are the kings of EDH, so putting insanely powerful card advantage engines in the color with the best ramp really pushes green over the top.

I 100% run Rampant Growth and Farseek in any deck playing green. There aren't a lot of 2-mana direct ramp spells, so those stand alone for me. I want to be at 4 mana on turn three more often than not. Artifacts in my meta (mana rocks) are for more vulnerable to removal than lands, so i'd take a ramp spell over a mana rock at the 2-drop spot. Great video!

First of all, amazing video as always prof. Quite surprised with the #1 card, but I can totally agree with it. Courser is one of my favorite cards ever. Second, I ask of you to please make a video about wizards not shipping Secret Lair products to Brazil. I imagine there are things beyond their control, but we are one of the biggest MTG markets out there. I cannot imagine that they can't at the very least put in the effort to ship these products to Brazil in some way or another. Not selling these products to LGS's is a huge mistake. They keep saying that some products are not for everybody, and I totally agree, but being from Brazil and not being able to acquire them from normal means just feels like I don't even deserve these products. I was so excited to finally get my first copy of Life from the Loam for my favorite EDH deck, but I was so sad when I realized my country is not worthy enough to have these products shipped here.

Hey now, don't forget Chord of Calling, a convoke tutor to the battlefield effect is a great way to swing the game in your favor, and it pays for itself if you pull out a seed-born muse with it or do it on an opponents end step.

I was very surprised to not see Krosan Grip! It's in every green deck that I build and it's basically considered on the level of an overloaded Cyclonic Rift in my play group. It's the only thing that can stop most infinite combos! I've also put Song of the Dryads into all of my decks as well. I love telling someone "I see you're in need of land. Would you like help? Cool. Your commander is now a forest."

Glimpse of Nature is a single green, sorcery speed, whenever you play a creature spell this turn draw a card. It’s incredibly powerful, and in certain archetypes/themes it’s essentially a blue spell. I would also suggest Bind, for 1G, which counters target activated ability and draws a card.
