I think it's important to note that, although you showed a cosmetic store and a battle pass in the game, *Deep Rock Galactic has no actual microtransactions.* Both of these features can only be progressed through by playing the game, and when the performance pass ends, its unique items become obtainable in the same way as all the other items in the game. There is cosmetic DLC you can buy, but it only represents a small fraction of the amount of cosmetic items in the game, and functions more as a donation button, for people who want to support Ghost Ship Games. This is definitely an important detail for people like me, who usually try to avoid games with microtransactions. Deep Rock Galactic looks like just another greedy game on the surface, and it doesn't really do a good job of showing new players that it's not. I remember one person I know bought the game, and immediately stopped playing because they got a 'gift' of some starting resources after the tutorial, thinking the game would use this to trick them into dropping hundreds of dollars on cosmetics.

We got a cavern on our 3rd mission that had two morkite springs in the lower section, but it stumped us, because we looked everywhere for the 3rd one. Turns out it was 300 metres straight up. So queue our very creative solution to get the pipelines up there using a driller and engineer to make a almost perfect route up, then post the gunner at the top to help hold off the hordes as we made our way up and down during the extraction process. Then our scout could hold the lower pumps on his own due to minimum distance pipes close together. It took us an hour to clear a hazard 2 area with 4 of us. Not to mention the extraction pod so happened to land at the very top right as we all ended up at the bottom. So very creative uses of our movement mechanics ensued, including a zip line to get to the very top with seconds to spare (the pipeline took 3 minutes to travel the entire run)

Very accurate. I double checked and the number of weapons Driller has that aren’t warcrimes with at least one upgrade are…Impact Axes, High explosive grenades, Satchel charges, And that’s it. Everything else has at least one warcrime involved.

Greybeard with over 700 hours here. This game is fucking amazing, the community friendly and always welcomes new players. Try it out if you want one of the best coop-shooters out there. Rock and Stone! Edit: You can pretty much play Scout without any falling damage when you're using the Hoover Boots Perk and the Special Powder OC for the shotgun. It takes some practice but you basically don't need Engineers platforms anymore.

as a veteran myself the grenade launcher is pretty good. its best to use when you see a ton of grunts grouped up and you should not use it on single big targets as that's where its weakest.... unless you have the Hyper propellant overclock then you should only use it on big tanky targets as you turn the grenade launcher into a rail gun with practically 0 explosion range

Engineer is still my favorite class. It's extremely helpful when playing solo for the obvious reason of having turrets to watch your back, but the engineer also has a lot of weapon upgrades that provide armor stripping. Essentially, you aren't just the DPS; you are also the debuff to enemies that make them take more damage. Combine all of that utility and power with platforms that can be upgraded to practically remove fall damage and you have a surprisingly versatile class for such a common archetype.

I have a decent amount of experience with 90 hrs in DRG, and I have not played a single game that is not with randoms (I have no friends with DRG). It is genuinely pretty fun, and I have faced two toxic players who were less toxic and more narcissistic. This game has the best community I’ve seen. All gunner and all engineer are pretty fun, haven’t done all driller, and all scout is hell. Edit: do want to clarify, all scout is hell in a fun way. Like Darkest Dungeon. It’s hilarious to do, just never expect to actually win (on haz 5). All scout probably ups the effective haz rating by ~2.

The shotgun is definitely one of those weapons that feels like a wet slap without upgrades, and like a bug-annihilating precision instrument when fully customized. With the tighter spread and high-powered loads, if you pint it at a grunt's ugly maw it just dies, and Praetorians get absolutely stomped on.

Don't be scared by the battlepass stuff, new guys, it's only the mechanic, with none of the exploitation. All the stuff that comes with these seasonal battlepasses, become part of the basic game, and you can unlock them normally. No FOMO induced spending and stuff. All updates and expansions are free, you only pay cosmetic dlcs if you want, that aren't even all that compared to the stuff in game, so it's like a donation to the devs that didn't infect this title with MTX stuff

Driller and Engineer are such incredibly important roles. Like I'm a scout main and even I know that I'm only useful to Quality of Life, but definitely not integral hahas
