As much as I love helldivers 2 I feel it has yet to come even close to what the deep rock community has achieved for themselves. In my 600 hours of playing deep rock I have only ran into 1 persons who was a complete dick. But in helldivers I expect to be shot before entering the drop ship or kicked for not doing what the host deems the correct way to play I’m not saying it’s 100% of the time but at least a good 30-40% of the times
@MrBaron157 ай бұрын
Keep in mind that it took DRG 5-6 years to culminate the community that it has now. In the case of Helldivers it has the potential to grow, flourish but also iron out a lot of unsaid etiquette when in missions. The best parts of DRG cooperation : 1 - no matter how you`re good, it`d take tons of time to do everything on your own. Yes, Mr. Driller 1337, that cave leech that caught you 200m from us, cause you drilled to visible cave system will demonstrate it to you. 2 - vast moments of peace with *no enemies whatsoever* , when you *have time* to cooperate via pings or MUSHROOM helps a lot. I can`t imagine something like that in Vermintide/L4D, which i adore. Partialy, cause in those game you know where stuf could be and couldn`t, while in DRG you could find 1 smal dot in the corner, which is Enor perl mark deep inside or hear a loot crate beeps throught the wall, which add new objective for nearest minute 3 DRG comunity have established rules, which are passed to each greenbeard dared to play few public games alone. 4 Voice comands on everything. If you ignorent to pings or pressing CTRL every few secs - you still know what your teammates are doing. Digging, shooting, depositing, pinging something important - you don`t need to see it, unless they`re over ~100 meters from you 5 Every class is distinct in it`s role and you can learn how to play by simply watching ppl around you do stuff. Even tho they can use unlocked weapons and overclocks - they`re still specialised at same as a class. Understanding your fellow dwarf helps you understand your role and keeps the immersion on

Speedplay and modded difficulties really push this game’s cooperative gameplay to the maximum. Speedplay can be art when performed well, and modded forces every class to perform their role perfectly. 2500 hours in and I’m still not bored. Something I appreciate about DRG is how intuitive the cooperation aspect is, it's not like other games where efficient teamwork requires taking nebulous maneuvers that require tight communication and only make themselves useful minutes down the line. Most combat strategies in DRG are self apparent: Don't get in front of shooting teammates, focus your fire on enemies your class is effective at taking out and let your teammates fill the blanks, lay down immediate cover when reviving a teammate. Even in non combat situations the ping tool and v key fulfill every need and I can understand what a teammate wants within seconds of them signalling and later on I could even do what's expected without being told at all. It leads to a seamless and fluid team dynamic that's just so much fun man, I can hop onto a random public hazard 5 mission, see everyone on the team is level 50 and be able to play as if we all had neural links
@freelancerthe25613 ай бұрын

This guy nails it. Deep Rock Galactic has given me so many epic moments that have, for a few minutes, bonded me to a bunch of complete strangers, mere voices in my headphones. - That moment when you're all running for the drop pod in a desperate firefight, the music pounding in your ears, and you see someone go down...then the whole team works together to get to their downed comrade and make sure he gets home. - When the shells litter the ground around the refueling drop pod as your puny team tries to hold back the swarms of enemies coming at you from all sides in a salvage mission. - Taking up a sniper position as a Scout and covering the guy struggling to carry Doretta's head back to the landing zone. - Throwing up a shield to protect your buddies during as two ton dreadnought bears down on you. It's hard to pin down what makes the magic in all of these moments but it's a mix of superior gameplay, epic music, great voiceacting, visceral sound, and kind, helpful players.

DRG has a better foundation currently than other coop games that die within months because they lack needed features that would be added after their battlepass is finished, the game lets you learn and refine your skill over time that is more visible compared to coop games that sometimes let the players with the highest level weapon win, and that base game without the seasons has carried the game mostly to this day, its just that the base game and endgame content has felt ignored mostly for seasons instead that I go through within a month, hopefully rogue core will provide a good future, also DRG survivor feels meh with all the overclocks mostly being stat upgrades also

Game companies should learn that when you commit resources to actually making a game the community wants you get rewarded big time. I honestly can’t believe why game companies refuse to do away with mainly micro-transaction based cosmetics and paid updates. Make a game that people want to play, people buy the game, people love they game, they buy skins. It’s not that hard
@GEB_Rosee_PPS5 ай бұрын
people buy skins even now though. the problem with the current Big Company Gamung oandscape, is that their models work. why would they need to put effort, when they can just sell skins/gacha stuff for absolurd prices, and people will still buy it. in gamung industry and the like, people vote with their wallets, and that vote has already been made
@dooderman83615 ай бұрын
@@GEB_Rosee_PPS you missed my point tho, I’m saying it takes virtually the same amount of effort for both paths, only difference being that at the end of it you’re either left with a good game that people will talk about for years and years (and with that comes a loyal fanbase for your next game) or you’re left with a mediocre game that no one will play anymore so you have to make another mediocre game so you can keep making money. “Their models work” so does making a good game, you’re saying that as if those shitty models make more money for less effort which is not true. They make more money for less effort UPFRONT, but in the long run they lose reputation, they never build a strong employee base, and they will eventually die out because of it. My whole point is that game companies who choose to make mediocre games to turn a quick profit are morons, if they focussed on building a good business instead of looking for quick cash they would make way more in the long run. Yes “people buy skins even now”, but it doesn’t change the fact that these companies should still be trying to make good games, sure if people stopped buying overpriced skins it would help, but it shouldn’t be a problem even now if true artists were calling the shots instead of moronic marketing people who can only value short term gains.

At one point I didn't even know DRG existed, never heard of it, never heard anyone mention it. I was just browsing through Game Pass and its cover art caught my eye, I took a look at it and thought "Huh... This looks pretty interesting". I am now addicted to committing war crimes against filthy Xenos

This touches on pretty much everything I love about DRG and why I've put almost 3k hours into it. There's been more time with everything unlocked than without and the game doesn't get dull. It's also astonishing how I've only had about 7 toxic interactions in the over 3 years I've put into this game. The quality of the community reflects the quality of the game. Rock and Stone miner! Well done!

Man, I can’t wait for tomorrow… the next DRG update comes out, with the Drillevator and the monsters from A Quiet Place… plus, I want me a fire-wall flamethrower overclock, simple as.

Been playing this game since literally day one. My roommate at the time mentioned this new game called Deep Rock Galactic that was coming to early access on Xbox. Been in love ever since. Literally one of the best cooperative games I’ve ever played.

I've enjoyed B4B, Darktide and HD2, but keep coming back to DRG. :)

As a mainly solo scout player I never really thought about the cooperation side of the game. I’ve played multiplayer but typically we don’t take advantage of the terraforming aspects of the game. One thing that me and my friends always do cooperatively is to coordinate our weapon and equipment builds. We might have one guy using mainly single target guns, and then we have some using grunt clear weapons. It’s really fun to coordinate builds and prepare for a deep dive.

Ok I don’t know what it is about horde shooters but they are amazing. DRG, Helldivers 2, Warhammer Darktide, Space Marine 2 are some of the best games I have played in years.

Didn’t expect to love this game as much as i did. almost have 200 hours on it now and it really is just a great co-op shooter. the combat and traversing the caves is just so unique

You can move a lot of objectives, they have very simple physics that allow you to drop them down a bit. This is especially true in Salvage missions, where only the Drop Pod cannot be moved.

Space dwarves really is the best game in it's genre. The only other game that even comes close to being as good is l4d2.

I've once stumbled on a toxic player when deep diving with random players, really annoying guy, would try to sabotage the mission all the time. We quite literally BURIED ALIVE (I was playing driller) the poor dwarf after downing him on each stage before he does so to us, it was funny af. This is why I love drg, it turns annoying situations into funny ones ROCK AND STONE, TO THE BONE!
