This might be one of those situations where you keep him and then draft his replacement to sit for a year, depending if you like who you can get in the draft. Since it's a "poor" quarterback class according to the experts, maybe moving off of him and resetting to get your guy in the 2026 draft? I don't know. It's a tough decision.

Really. Don’t be stupid. Rodger’s can manage the offense better than anybody. Draft a quarterback let him sit a year or two. If the defense was better this year jets would be playoff bound.

What distraction? Rodgers played longer on ONE TEAM than almost anyone in NFL History. Please elaborate on this so called distraction. It’s a ridiculous statement by you as G. Wilson himself just said on Kay Adam’s he 100% wants Rodgers back. But apparently to you he is distracion.

He's had the benefit of a much improved O-Line and is still 3-10. His negativity shows on and off the field and it's draining. If you recall some of the brutal hits that Darnold and Wilson took for the Jets, you know that 41 year old AR isn't going to. He has to go, it's just not worked out. I expect the Jets will win on Sunday, but if not, that should be the end of the line for Rodgers.
@njlauren
@njlauren 8 күн бұрын
I think the two sides and their motivations can be broken down like this: 1)Those who believe, as we have been told the last several years, that the Jets are just X away from the superbowl. Last x years it was "the qb'. This year, the idea is with a new set of coaches and a GM who will fill the holes, the Jets under Rodgers will be a strong playoff team. A lot of them also believe Rodgers was hurt most of this year, that his poor stats in many games was because he was hurt. Most also believe that Rodgers will make a good bridge to a young QB who will play behind him. 2)Then there are those like myself who believes it is better to move on from Rodgers. Some believe he is washed , that he simply can't play any more, others it is because of the huge cap hit and simply wanting to move on with a new HC and GM who will build the team their way, instead of once again trying to 'win now', which has never worked for the Jets. There are other factors, like will anyone good want to come in here at GM or HC and have to deal with Rodgers. He is no longer at the level of the SB QB he once was, he at best will be a good but not great QB I and others think. Will they be willing to put up with his being a diva? Is he still going to have Woody behind him, where we have to hire an OC he likes? Is it going to be that Rodgets in effect chooses the HC and GM? There is real reason to believe that no experienced coach or GM will want to deal with Rodgers and his ego, not at the level of play he is at. I keep hearing from fans who want him "who would turn down working with a hall of fame qb with a team as talented as the Jets", and the answer is a lot, bc Rodgers is no longer that HOF QB, not by far, and he has a reputation now of being a diva and difficult to deal with, not entirely misplaced if you look at his track record, not just with the Jets. In my case, I am not sure Rodgers can play all that well any more. I think this years stats are skewed (it is very easy to have a high qbr when dumping passes off), and I think one fact stands out, Rodgers won't or can't throw downfield. His yards in the air is 5.6, and that is not a stat for a QB leading a team deep into the playoffs or even into it. His stats are skewed, that they are better than most Jets QBs says just how bad QB play has been. I also think the projected stats overstate what he will do in the last X games, they are assuming he will play like he did against the Fins, whose defense is trash. I think he is gun shy, and that could hurt the jets big time. There is another factor, you know damn well Rodgers is going to play his cutesy game once again, he will dither after the season is over, go on McCaffee, put out mixed signals, playing being the center of the universe. Knowing Woody, he will let him pull that crap, instead of telling him "Look, you need to decide now whether you want to play or not, so we can make decisions, see what our options are". Rodgers being up in the air a month after the season ends or more is going to affect the search, coaches and gm candidates are not going to want to interview if they don't know Rodgers status. Some of them, if Rodgers has said he is coming back and the Jets seem wanting to keep them, will decline interviews, if Rodgers is up in the air it is a waste interviewing people who won't work with Rodgers. That the Jets started the search early indicates that they want to move fast once the season ends, Rodgers can make that twice as hard. And yes, the cap issue, he plays next year and Jets are on a cap hook for 60m, and that can't be renogotiated, this isn't baseball, they don't allow punting it down the road. The Jets aren't going to sign Rodgers to an extension and make all that he is owed into a signing bonus,knowing that this is basically it. Plus I think fans are mistaking how good this team will be next year. Yes, the defense was in part poor coaching (the bad tackling , penalties, and mental mistakes are coaching), but there are significant holes there. Is Sauce any good? Was he hurt this year and that is why he had a bad season? Obviously, being on a rookie contract they don't have to decide that right away. The offensive line will need some work, but Fashenu, Simpson, Tippman are solid, and AVT might still be salvageable if they decide he isn't made of glass. They will need a right tackle, Morgan Moses is a warrior but he is old and hurting, they need someone at RT. Probably need a tight end as well, no one on the roster is good, hopefully a new staff will kick ruckert to the curb and try and find an upgrade to what we have. I think saying if we keep rodgers and get good coaching it will solve this years mess is very, very optimistic, one that I am not sure a new GM and HC can solve to be win it now. Of all the factors not to keep Rodgers, I think it is if he stays, it is highly likely we will get another coach and HC who are desperate for a coaching/gm position, that will rule out good quality people, especially experienced coaches. I have heard people mention McCarthy, and besides the obvious, I don't think he likes Rodgers and vice versa, McCarthy's scheme is the same 20 year out of date west coast scheme that Rodgers forced on the Jets. They match, but do you want an outdated offense? We talk about hiring an offensive guy as HC, and I don't buy the rodgers bull that he is willing to learn a new system, if he was, he wouldn't have been demanding we have garbage like Hackett and Downing on the staff. And I think Rodgers, despite some good moves, is not a leader, he in some ways is a mirror of Saleh. On the field he does nothing, doesn't interact with the other players, talk to the offensive line, cheer for players making good plays or ripping someone a new ahole for screwing up, he certainly isn't Tom Brady in that regards. And as far as mentoring a young QB, that is an absolute joke, Rodgers has never been that kind of guy, he didn't do it at green bay (just ask Green bay Fans, or even what Jordan Love has said), and didn't do it with the Jets either. We need to hire a coach and gm who are strong enough to stand up to woody , not coaches who are so grateful to woody they bend over, like Saleh and Douglas did. That kind of coach and GM will not want to have to inherit rodgers and his ego, no way. There is a final factor. Any coach/GM that comes here and is willing to accept Rodgers, even if in fact they are strong people willing to fight for their vision, will end up being viewed skeptically by a lot of the fans, not as good GM or Coach, but as another loser so wanting a HC/GM position they would bend over for woody and AR. If so, then if the season doesn't start good, or the GM's decisions in the draft and free agency look bad, fans will be all over them. With a new gm and new coach and no AR they will give them time to develop, see what happens, it will be a better situation for them to succeed.

@@ian1753 No, it isn't that easy. Vrabel has his own baggage and the titans, while better than the Jets under him, still didn't go far in playoffs and had his own problems with the o line and OC. Rodgers hasn't won anything in years, at GB his teams died in the playoffs most of the time, and he had baggage there too. And how do you know vrabel really wants to come to the jets, let alone deal with king Rodgers? I don't dislike vrabel, I think he is the culture guy Saleh definitely wasn't, but I don't think him and Rodgers would happen or if it does, work well.

@@njlauren You haven't listened to Vrabel whatsoever or vice versa to hear what they think of each other. Plus everytime Rodgers played Vrabel towards the end he tore Vrabels D apart. They both would want to work with each other is the bottomline. Plus I have season tickets with the Packers for over a Decade now and Rodgers can't make his team now get FGs blocked or a Punt not blocked for a TD when its late in the 4th quarter with a 96% win probability. We finally allocated resources when those monstrosities happened. If they fixed them earlier its another Superbowl most likely. Rodgers took GB to multiple Conference Championships and with a Rookie HC. You are underestimating the first year potential with Vrabel and Rodgers.
@njlauren
@njlauren 8 күн бұрын
@ian1753 I am not, I think given where the jets are banking on instant success with Rodgers is a fantasy, given where he is at QB and given the Jets issues. I think vrabel with fix the defense, but I don't think he will easily fix the o side or the overall cultural issues. I will add that if Vrabel comes here ( which I doubt, I suspect we are going to see another ' up and coming coordinator' as HC who is willing to bend over to Woody, same with the GM. There is an old expression, a leopard doesn't change its spots, and with woody I would lay 10 to 1 odds we get more bozos.
