I had the Olympus Tough TG820 bought in 2012. It works great until now. Usually used it during hiking, at the pool and at the beach/ocean. I don't have to worry where I placed it or bring it to or who borrows it. Very reliable. Shock Proof and waterproof. I bet this TG6 will also do the same.

My favorite camera brand does it again! Love this camera! Use it mostly to capture action moments, knowing that I can still use it as a backup, if the other two cameras fail, not for vlogging. Ps: not every camera on the market is made for vlogging... we must start reviewing gear for what they're made for, not what we want it to be... I've owned GoPros before and will gladly have this one over GoPro any time... oh KZbin...

Outstanding video! I have been using the TG-1 for forever and a day primarily for snorkeling/diving. I prefer using the TG-1 over GoPro underwater due to battery life and screen size.

I used the TG-6 and TG-5 on my trip to Switzerland for video, but I unfortunately was not impressed. I sold it online and bought a GoPro Hero 8 after the trip. The video quality was unfortunately sub-par. The lens wasn't wide enough for confident vlogging, the microphones aren't great, and it would bug-out sometimes and stop recording video without reason. From a video perspective, GoPro does everything better. However from a durability standpoint the Tough cameras felt solid. The tradeoff for video image quality is not worth it though. One of the worst things about the camera (currently, late 2019) though is its lack of support for NTSC frame rates! 25fps, 30fps, It'll work and you can cut it together with a decent NLE, but it's terrible to watch unless you're filming and cutting all your footage in PAL standards. Most people shoot 24fps, and I'm astonished that this camera doesn't/didn't support it. Perhaps a software update will fix this someday. This was sad to me, because I'm a huge Olympus fan. I own the EM-5 Mark II, an EM-1 Mark II, and the 12-100, 7-14, 12-40, and 40-150 pro lenses. I really expected better from Olympus, and that's why I bought the TG-5 and TG-6 for my trip. I still stand by their OM-D cameras though as being some of the best - and frequently print larger than 30x40. The EM-1 II however delivered a gorgeous picture and using footage from it was fabulous. For those curious, you can find the film I shot using these cameras so you can judge the quality for yourself (TG-5, TG-6, EM-1 II) on my channel, titled "The Haute Route".

Just got this for a recent honeymoon trip to Montego Bay. Let me tell you. I wasn’t lugging my Canon 5D4 and L lens to Jamaica. But coupled with my Fuji X-pro 1, a 56 1.2 and 35 f2, all bases were covered. Was able to take selfies at will with the TG-6. Also traveled with the Manfrotto Element tripod and used my cell phone for self portraits of my wife and I. Came back with stellar pics. Also underwater shots for pure fun. Oh yea also used the underwater macro for my Rolex amongst baby crabs. More creative features on the Olympus than I can think of. Highly recommended for a travel point and shoot. However low light was a challenge for the beach party. But hey it does everything else superbly.

I like my TG (5) because of the macro/microscope function and led ring accessory, but when I move from it to a Cannon it's like a breath of fresh air, you can instantly feel the joy of using the menu and buttons. The TG-5 buttons feel like buttons from an old small electronic watch. Small, hard to press, no precision when pressing, even the shutter, and menu reacts slower than all Canons I had :/

i saw this camera pop up before i bought my hero 7 black. I think this camera would be great if you want a durable, waterproof, but still good enough footage for vlogs, this is what i’d look at. Good luck with your. Gopro Hero 7, I've had almost every Gopro version and the Hero 7 has been the most problematic and unstable. It continuously freezes and has to have the battery removed to unfreeze at times. This past weekend while snorkeling with whale sharks in Mexico while in the water i was forced to reformat my week of diving in Cozumel 2days Cenote diving. Needless to say i was disappointed! I'm prob def gonna try the TG6.
@shujuka73873 жыл бұрын
Gopro isn't exactly known as a trustable equipment. It became popular because it was very small, rather cheap and still provided decent image quality, but it always was a buggy device and stopped working when you didn't want it to. I can't blame them because it's really small and Gopro is still a good product. But at the same time, Olympus is known for producing trustable equipment for professionals.

@billyhawk96484 жыл бұрын
@@MPD90 The main point of it being waterproof is at no point will you have to worry about flooding. If you are serious about photography, a housing is needed to support video lights and strobes. You need lights the deeper you go otherwise your pictures will all have a shade of blue. The housing itself is quite small and serves as a foundation for trays, lights and conversion lenses. I am an instructor, I have seen other more expensive cameras lock up and flood. The TG series can take a beating. And like I said it has the fastest autofocus in macro setting. Even a professional photographer was impressed with some of my photos. Told me I do not need any other camera.

Sadly for me this product was a huge disappointment. I am an licensed boiler inspector and it is my job to inspect equipment and document the condition. I have owned over a dozen weather proof tough cameras over the years and this is amongst the worst. I need a very high quality camera that is able to take pictures in challanging light conditions and this is not it. The auto focus and adaptive ISO functions on this camera are very poor. I am questioning if it's a defective product as all the images are over exposed and low resolution. Ultimately I have given it to my 9 year old son as it is unusable for me in my profession. The only positive I can say about this camera is that it is indeed very tough as I literally threw it across a concrete building and it some how survived.

The Olympus TG-850,860,and 870 have a flip up screen and a 21-105mm (35mm equiv) lens. Though they are all discontinued. One reason for that may have been due to the video audio suffering from some mechanical "ticking" noises. and in my TG-850, I can confirm that to be true.

I use TG6 everyday, the menu system is bad but it is at least the same as on my OM Land cameras. It has the buttons, I don't want touch screen with my big fingers, touchscreen is death. Now I shoot underwater, with a case, this will do stills, wide, macro , Micro in still or video this delivers in still and video. "Experts" carp on that it does not have a full manual mode.... well I can tell you that at -30 meters in the Maldives with a Manta ray or a shark coming straight at you you don't give a toss about ISO. The little piggy has a computer in it to work that out. You can take it out of the case, walk around key west and have a whale of a time. What can't it do? Safari in Africa, yes I need those long lenses. Now the other thing that it shouldn't do is studio, beautiful woman perhaps not too many clothes at all. The TG6 will do it, no problem, but if I take the scuffed red Olympus out of my pocket she will think I am not serious, so I9 have to get out the BIG camera, all the lenses and theatre
