I love a trail that loops. Even better if it loops around the iconic Mont Blanc. The Tour of Mont Blanc or TMB is one of the most popular treks in Europe. Which is fitting since it circumnavigates one of the most popular mountains in Europe as well. The TMB is 107 miles in length with approximately 33,000ft of climbing. It's an amazing network of well maintained paths and some pavement. It provides a multi day 360 view of the Mont Blanc Massif and crosses through three countries, France, Italy, and Switzerland. Along it's manicured paths you can find a network of huts or rifugios that I hear provide great nourishment and rest. I wouldn't know about that. I decided to attempt the Tour of Mont Blanc in the middle of October when all the huts were closed for the season. This meant I could either camp, or stay in hotels. Staying in hotels required me to do the first 50 miles in one day, rather than the usual 5 or so days required for the casual trekker. Maybe I should have camped.

Came across your videos last year as I recovering from double ankle breaks. For several months I was bedridden and your videos gave me a light at the end of the tunnel. Having to learn to walk again, my hikes (backside of Snowbasin) are short but I find encouragement/inspiration in your videos! So with that, I want to say thanks.......

Danny, give yourself credit where it's due: IF you trained for 3 months (like the elites, as your ONLY job), had full aid stations of food & medical staff and drop bags and you were wearing a 12L ultra running vest, I'm 100% sure you could do the Tour du Mont Blanc in under 30 hrs! You are Danny the Mountain Running Machine...there are your other alps trips, your Glacier Nat'l Park runs, your Grand Tetons runs...

October is my favorite month in the Alps. The glaciers are out to be seen, the light is gorgeous, the crowds are gone, and the larch trees turn orange. The only drawback is that sometimes you get ice on the track, and icy winds. That can be quite dangerous without spikes on your shoes. But this year, september and early october were very dry, it's only been a couple of weeks since it started raining again.

Danny promised dry heaving on the podcast, and he delivered. The scenery along the way is an added bonus. Give the fans what they want, Danny. Give us an OnlyFans for trail spewing. (Additional OF suggestions for the other MAs: Blizz can make one for complaining in the wilderness, Christof can make one for relaxing and eating buffets in the middle of excursions, etc.)

@@davidryan4454It’s a weekly podcast called News AF, hosted by Danny, Tyson Apostol, and Rob Cesternino. They mostly talk about weird news stories from the past week, but they’ll also share things going on in their lives. As such, Danny will often recap the excursions he does, and he plugs the MA channel when a new video is expected. Like before the Kilimanjaro videos dropped, he talked a good bit about the trip on the podcast. He was much more candid about his disdain of how much staff he was required to hire and the tipping ceremony he was required to participate in. 😂

I did this hike in six days four years ago, decided on at the very last minute the night before getting the bus from Milan to Courmayeur at 6am, and it was unforgettable. I went clockwise so not many people going in the same direction. I took my tent with me, and on the nights when there was a mountain hut available I slept in a mountain hut, on the nights when there wasn't one available I just kept walking until I reached a decent place to wild camp. I went in the middle of August at the height of the tourist season and it was by no means overcrowded (a few middle-aged English hikers with donkeys carrying their backpacks and that was it), it must be incredible outside the tourist season. Never too remote, you pass through a town with some kind of food and water source available at least once a day. I highly recommend it.

I used to feel good about myself because I would go on "difficult" 12 to 13-mile hikes with 5500 vertical feet of climbing and then I found this channel which let me know that, no.....I am, in fact, a pathetic loser. 😒 And now I learn that there are people out there that Danny considers to be "super strong runners" that are making him question his own physical abilities!?!? 🤦‍♂😭 ....if anybody needs me I'll be sitting in my lazy boy dreaming of pizza vending machines. 😢 I don't know if this channel is inspiring or completely demoralizing, but either way, I absolutely love it! Thanks, Danny and co. for abusing your bodies for our entertainment! 😅😂

Love what Danny and the boys do and helps inspire me to keep pushing for my own modest goals (R2R2R in a day and 4th attempt to climb my first 6,000m summit in 2024 before I turn 60). If you're interested in what those "super strong runners" Danny mentioned do for "fun", John Kelly's (Random Forest Runner) Grand Round is a great place to discover just how far "out there" some people are taking it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4eTZoOter6dY6c

Thanks for the cool video and the extra miles you’ve put in to videotaping everything. Maybe you should consider to do the GR20 as well? It’s across Korsika and after the chaotic summer season ( ends with September ) I usually find perfect warm conditions during October. The current record time is around 30 hours ( beast mode, running all the way through ) but I stick to hiking. The refuges aren’t operated anymore by October but still open to use, with all what’s left of water, gas and electricity. Just keep away from any bedbug infested bedrooms, though. Stick to the main rooms or camp outside the refuges which is also common to do. Happy trails

I was recently on a backpacking trip with my usual thoughtful hiking food packed in my bear canister, but on the first handful of miles to the first camp, I grabbed a junkier snack from my cooler that is usually designated for the road before or after hikes and it destroyed my stomach on the way in. Like definitely a bad combination with physical activity. Huge knot in my stomach and I felt like I was gonna throw up. Not exactly sure what you are going through, but may want to rethink the quality of those calories. Pizza vending machine definitely gotta be hard to pass up though.
