I was more feminist-minded more than I ever cared to admit (not shaming feminists here). But I denied myself the pleasure of being a mom, being pregnant, taking time to reflect on what legacy truly means, and had a very superficial idea about productivity and success. I can’t get any of that pregnancy time back (a little late…the daughter is 30), and I cannot turn back to tell the great guys I am willing to have a family (they’ve long since moved on). I have to settle for the choices I’ve made. While serving in the US Navy, I was assigned to over 1000 funeral details. Loved ones didn’t talk about their professions, accolades, awards, or status symbols collected through the years. Loved ones spoke of their time spent with them, collected bits of wisdom, and spoke of how they impacted their community through acts of service or kindness. I don’t fester on what time I lost, but looking forward, I want to focus on how best to serve my family and friends. Moreover, make the most of any time left on earth, that means slowing things down a bit, putting away distractions, and providing a place for others to find peace and quiet.

Every time I watch one of ur videos, I cry. And I only partially understand why. But the things you're saying are powerful. And I think you're talking to some of the DEEP roots of who God made women to be. And we're all so lost and confused, we think we know what we're supposed to be and how we're supposed to act and live our lives. But we're really cheating ourselves, and God, out of the wonderful creations He created us to be. And I'm speaking from a place of.... Being STUCK in the middle of my own journey . Anyways, all of that to say thank you for your authenticity. It's making a difference

What I love most about your videos is not the content (which is fantastic) but your light. It's like you are beaming with "you-ness", beaming with a light that is so beautiful. It inspires me to live more in my own light, and I think a part of doing that means slowing down, residing more in my body than in my mind. I want to send a big thank you for the wonderful work you do. Lots of love from Sweden.

I want to say thank you SO much for what you do here. I'm a 40 year old mom of two and your wisdom is what I wish I had had when my kids were little. Better late than never though!! I love your discussion around feminine energy. As I've spent time diving into healing, my faith, and self-care, this reality of "being" and moving the needle with small, forward steps (v hurry and push) (ie your one-hour a day work block) has been proven over and over. Recovering from perfection seems to be a life-long struggle. Thank you again for spending time with us. ❤

Getting older has taught me that everything that needs to get done will get done. We all power through when we need to but learning to slow down and enjoy the process leads to more contentment and joy. You are right. And the do not disturb option on our phones is not just there to look pretty lol. It's a sanity saver. The more society pushes us to be more productive and quicker at accomplishing tasks the more we should do the opposite. Slow down. Learn to relax and everything gets done in its own time. Find your rhythm, right? 😉

I loved this video Madi. I have recently been on a journey of healing from a constant feeling of needing to be productive. This lesson makes me think of one of your videos past where you say "If you give a woman..." and it made me realize that as women if you give them a task they create a tapestry. They create beauty with the ingenuity of less effort. That is definitely one of the loveliest things I think of why women bring so much to the table. Letting go of the grind of hustle culture and its limiting, soul squelching pace and adopt a more intuitive and open form of work. It will always come out feeling more fulfilling and lifegiving. Thank you for showing us how we can adopt this lifestyle and thrive!

Gosh Madi, your videos have really helped me foster more peace in my life as a toddler mom. When I get a bit frazzled I tell myself to sloooowwww downnnn and that really helps. I'm curious about your new course. I always felt like "entrepreneurship" "boss mom" life was just not for me...too much "grinding" but you are planting a seed that tells me maybe it doesn't have to be that way. Maybe I can put something out into the world without feeling like it has to crush me at the same time. Maybe it can be slow, and enjoyable...even pleasurable. Can't wait!

I love your idea of romantisising your work. Ive always done this in my home, but not in my work so much and ive lamented the whiteness and sterility of my work. Ive noticed though that even as a nurse i can romanticise my work. I can make patients comfortable and cosy and give them a cared for experience. Even interacting pleasantly and with care with all the other staff romanticises the work i think as it brings in the soul and humanity to an otherwise sterile world. Challenge accepted. Lets take the beautiful soul of a home out into the world.

This was a bit hard to hear, as a project manager I am split across 50 odd projects, and I have to block/timesheet my time, often in 5, 10, 15 minute intervals. So doing less isn't really an option there (but I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment, which is why I'm here on this channel). The part about seeming things will take longer made me lol because I'm so used to high efficiency that I assume things will take less time. The phrase that really stuck out to me though was ''I think the point of productivity is to add meaning to our lives.'' It's something I agree with but never think about. I'm struggling at the moment to find meaning in my work, some days I do a million things and think 'what did I really do?'' I am considering a new job with a more manageable pace, and hopefully feels more meaningful. Obviously there is meaning in the opportunities that a job can bring to us, and I plan to use some of my savings for a long travel trip that I've been dreaming of. :) I am also trying to incorporate some of these tips outside of work, and have been trying to 'reset my nervous system' through small actions of intentional slow living.
