I agree with most of the things on the list. My only exception is theme park passes. My daughter and I go to KNott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Disneyland/DCA. For us, it's worth it because we go often enough and for us, it pays off within 3 trips. I usually take snacks and drinks with us, so we only buy the main meal, so we dont normally spend more than $20/$30 on food when we go.

Having 7 children, 5 of which have graduated, we have found graduation parties to be a huge financial blessing. We usually do hotdogs / burgers on the grill, chips, and cake for about 125 people. About a $300 investment but our grad ends up with thousands of dollars in gifts, most of which they wouldn't have gotten without an actual party. That money was used to help buy a car or computer for each child, something we couldn't afford to buy them. Just a thought.

Do schools not do class photos any more? I still have mine from the late fifties onwards and can identify most of the people but I was brought up in a small community. Still have fun when getting together with old friends and laughing about our clothes and hairstyles in the photos. I won't get rid of them. Thanks again for a thought-provoking video.

The only luxury I engage in, is acquiring a quality wardrobe. For years when younger, I didn't earn much money and couldn't afford barely anything. Now I work for the District Attorney, I enjoy buying clothes for my personal style, not for work only. I could afford a new car if I wanted, but I don't get spending that much money for something will lose value so fast. Besides, I love my 8 year old Jeep and here in Los Angeles, I can take the bus or subway to get around when I don't feel like driving or parking is insane somewhere. I love your view on what you purchases and letting go.

Good job making priorities for yourself! Just because a person can afford something doesn’t mean they hade to buy it! ❤️

I don’t think I’m surprised by any on the list lol. I would say that me and dishwashing just don’t get along so well. So yes. I buy all the things…(mostly just cups and paper plates). I am now being more conscious tho of my solo cup iced coffee routine. I throw them in the dishwasher and reuse them until they die. I tried other things but they just don’t work for me. Like I’m half asleep so I know just where to fill the water to even if I’m in a coma. And then it doesn’t come out right also with the ice, milk and cream (with other cups). I also limit use of paper plates. But some days….Lol. Pets of course. Got in the cat mafia before I knew any better. Lol. Love them still tho but no more right now. And paper towels for the same reason (too gross of things to reuse lol). Also try to limit that also with using the (separated from the general use ones) bamboos for at least urine. I have my hair color and select few hair and beauty products but I don’t go crazy. (If you only knew my unruly hair lol). Basic retinol for anti aging is the only extra I would say for skin (besides the psoriasis stuff I have to deal with). But most days I just rely on my trusty Aveeno. Experimenting with olive oil lately also. But at my age (and with my type-high contrast suits me) I started to feel “beige” so I just pop it with high contrast clothing, “enhance” my fading brows and get it with my burgundy hair color. Occasionally I go crazy with hot pink or blood red or purple, but that’s gotten to be too messy and cumbersome for all the time. Grey is fine but punk rock is sublime. Lol. 🤟Can’t wait til my whole head turns white so I can rock a full head of pastels without having to lighten it first. Lol. Well I got this Google home thing for free but I haven’t set it up yet (one of my procrastination projects lol). I have to say tho I wouldn’t pay much for one if I had to buy it. The family not family jumped on the electric car wagon a long time ago. Yes. I have some funny stranded for hours stories about that (or having to get a tow). 😅😅 They got a Tesla now and that def seems more reliable and way faster to charge and goes a lot further on one charge but also costs a pretty penny. I don’t think I could drive it tho. (Not that they would let me anyways 🙄🙄). Lmao. If you don’t have the tech all set up, it’s going to be nothing but pure frustration. I also love the feel of a watch. Lol. And looking at that without having to use my phone. Things I don’t buy. Hmmm. Over the years I cycled through a lot of stuff. Seemed like it was all more like a long journey to find out what I actually like or want or what is truly useful and economical and what works. Generally tho. Things I won’t buy. Cheap furniture (not real wood) Home computer Fancy cleaning equip (vacs, steamers, etc) Fancy cleaning solutions Expensive kibble Clay cat litter Fancy other pet products Bulk shopping Streaming subs, cable tv A lot of new high tech Planners Water bottles Bracelets Liquid fab softener Lotto, crypto Anything on earth…paying full price or “the going rate” (only if I absolutely have to). Lol. And pre vetting all things for ideal suitability. Some days not sure if I’m “minimalist” or just cheap or at times a sucker for convenience. 😂😂 I would rather omit chores than omit some products tho. (Save more time, energy vs save money or space).

The cat mafia! Ha ha! You didn’t find them…they found you! Ha ha! Good list! I would say that in many regards minimalism and frugality go hand in hand. ❤️

@@ArrowHillCottage Lol. Cats. (And coons for awhile I guess). Well at least I’ll have a lot of stories to tell one day. Ha ha. I reckon they do kind of go together. I didn’t even go into “rental properties” but I think it’s pretty obvious how I feel about that. 😅😅 I really can’t escape my inner “fierce” nature I guess so may as well roll with it. lol. I could change my mind abt some like you said lol. A woman’s prerogative imo. Streaming AMC (I am considering it lol) Bcuz they’re coming up with some Walking Dead offshoot shows and I’m kind of a die hard fan. Lol.

I’ve always said that if they made a package where people could choose maybe 10 channels, for a cheaper cost than the whole ‘bundle’ they would have a lot more customers! ❤️

@@ArrowHillCottage Ikr. Yes I think you may be onto something there.I think I’d only need a handful tho. Although YT covers most bases for me these days. Plenty of true crime, free movies, quirky history, music….plus all this life improvement or DIY kind of stuff. Can’t beat it for free. Lol.

Yes, so true! YT has a lot to offer! Sometimes with the algorithm lately though- I need to go looking for it! ❤️

Omg I couldn’t get through all the apologies! Why can’t millennials never just say something? 😂🙄

Not exactly sure what you mean, but thanks for watching! ❤️

@ you don’t hear all your caveats at the beginning? You don’t have to apologize to the world before having a point of view about something.
@ArrowHillCottage19 күн бұрын
Oh, I see…should I apologize to you for doing that? 😆 ❤️ old habits die hard! lol
