I think what disappointed me most of this game wasn't the performance or gameplay. it was the overall story, the bat family was fine, not amazing but you can see the developers understood those characters, my problem was with the court of owls, they just didn't use them well, the court of owls in this game are like complete idiots with no intelligence whatsoever, they're supposed to be the most prestigious assassins, politicians, criminals and whatnot that have been undercover for decades, but in this game you just question how they weren't uncovered by how bad the court of owls was in this game.

Same. Played the Arkham games multiple times. Played through them again recently and tried GK. I actually had a lot of fun. I think it got overly hated too much. The story was ok. Serviceable and fun. Combat is also a plus. Used mods to make it so I can mix and match any costume piece and added speed to the bat cycle and some weather effects. Game is good. Not near Arkham but still a good game. I think the hate at launch for performance is understandable. But as it is now and just as a game, it's good. Pays respect to batman and the universe. They did love the batman lore and it shows.

i felt the same way about it. my friend had a spare copy and i got it for free and at first i didnt get what was so bad about it until i got to the 2nd half of the game. God Damn it was such a slog to fight even basic enemies. Thankfully i was red hood so i upgraded my pistols as much as i could to deal with certain annoying enemies. But some of them were just so tanky, that i ended up turning the difficulty down just to make the fights go faster. Not to mention sometimes enemies would attack you off screen and you couldn't dodge because you can't see them. I ended up using the high ground strategy so I wasn't getting hit out of no where.

I actually bought and played this game a couple of months back (on a BIG discount) and while it wasn't terrible I just couldn't help feeling like it just did everything worse than the Arkham games. Combat, stealth, traversal, exploration, puzzles, set pieces, story, boss fights. All 4 of the Arkham Games did it better and by the end of the game I just wanted to play them instead, so I did and bought them all again on Steam (last played them on PS3 except for Knight).

From someone who purchased this game day 1 and played the campaign entirely with all 4 characters, it was clear this was meant to be some live service like Kill the Justice League. The combat challenges were repetitive save the hostage missions with no real execution to the city layout and Gotham felt like a Unity asset they pre-purchased especially when compared to Arkham Knight's layout. It had some cool elements like the hallucination section where the playable character was dealing with their inner trauma but everything felt so basic. Like they made the game because they had too.

Agreed. It's a fun game. I played all Arkham games many times. Still do. Played GK for the first time and finished it last week. I had a good time. When I replay the Arkham games I'll be adding GK in there now too. People who overly hate on this game typically haven't played it and it shows. SSKTJL really let me down. This game while not Arkham still was fun. The combat was fun. Solving crime scenes was also something I think was done better here than in the Arkham games. Any honestly most the boss fights are better. People complained red hood should kill, but if you build properly and against enemies with elemental effects, you can one shot them with his pistols. Game is good and fun. No masterpiece like the Arkham games but a good time. People need to get off their high horses. Not every game needs to be a 10/10. Even a 6-7/10 is good and just fun. People overly criticize now to feed their ego and make themselves seem better and more knowledge about gaming.

While this game didnt hit the heights of it's predecessors, i don't think it's bad. Over time the technical issues were cleaned up and it is over bloated with live service elements but the gameplay is simple but fun, the story isnt deep but still compelling enough. I think it's worth a playthrough especially since this game is on sale often.

I am gonna be reeally honest, I've played all mainline arkham games, and the blackgate one, played a bit of gotham knights and the suicide squad game. Objectively none of these games are as bad as how people deemed them to be, HOWEVER the Rocksteady ARKHAM games were such a double edged sword for WB. They maade a masterpiece where people just wanted more and more like the batman arkham games. It's the comparing thing that destroys the games, and I think the whole gaming industry as a whole. I enjoyed Gotham Knights, it's an ok game, but most fans are expecting a lot out of DC games now after the Arkham Trilogy. They won't except mediocrity, and honestly they shouldn't, especially with games becoming more pricey. You'd think with more technology games would get better, but they aren't. I remember reading about a leak for a sequel to Origins called Arkham Insurgency. Although from memory it was still supposed to be an Arkham game that focused on Batman it was said to introduce vehicles like Arkham Knight, feature the bat family with swappable character combat sequences like Arkham Knight and have the Court of Owls as the main villains. Gotham Knights ended up having a lot in common with that leak so I can only guess that at some point WB demanded the team make a live service game from the concept instead of another singleplayer Arkham game. And everyone was worse off for it.

I think the worst part about this game is how mediocre it is. It just fades into obscurity with not a whisper of a sound to remind you of its existence after the initial launch. Such a shame too because there are parts of it that is quite good, like the opening cinematic. But even then, I wouldn’t go so far as to say that it’s amazing. Hopefully, this won’t be the last time we’ll see a game centered around the extended bat family.

this wasn't a bad game, however, it was just a game. Nothing memorable either good or bad. Well, other than Jason Todd's hoodie drawstrings sticking straight out throughout all the cutscenes on my game. This kind of reminded me of Mass Effect Andromeda in that it was just a game, not too good and not too bad. I never had any glitches or issues with the FPS stuff. I had a mostly good time with this.

I suppose that really depends on one's standards. Like Mass Effect: Andromeda, Gotham Knights had a big issue with dialogue. The various characters felt like they were getting all their lines out of a CW Network DC show fan fiction written by a tween. Every line felt forced and unnatural in a way that the Arkham titles never did. Beyond all that. Gotham Knights was clearly built to be a sort of perpetual grind game. A title where the goal is repetitive busywork as opposed to carefully constructed story driven gameplay.

It’s sad how far the DC “Bat-verse” games have fallen. I’m re-playing Arkham Origins again and the game is fantastic on PC. Excellent boss fights, interesting story, great fighting mechanics, etc. Sadly we’ll likely never get another Batman game like the four original Arkham titles ever again. Especially with so much potential with the Court of Owls storyline. Gotham Knights is just another AAA “live-service” game that was pivoted at the last minute due to the Avengers failing so hard. Tragic is what it is, I would much rather have an Arkham single-player title involving Damien or the Bat family, not this looter-shooter wannabe. 😢

WB games has been showing how they prioritize greediness over quality ever since Shadows of War. On a side note, I actually quite enjoyed Gotham Knights. While it never comes close to reaching the heights of the Arkham series, it’s the only Batverse game that actually let’s you patrol the streets at night looking for crime in Gotham.

I would have more appreciated stand alone games of Tim Drake Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Redhood, and Damien Wayne Robin. With the same awesome combat. That would have been fucking awesome.

I really wanted this game to be good. The final trailer was amazing. Not to mention Nightwing is one of my favorite heroes of all time. Too bad the missteps really hurt it.

No matter what they say. I do not believe that this didn't at least start as a Arkham series game. The stories are just to damn similar and frankly caused a lot of brand confusion. This is the game that Rocksteady should have made. Its clear though that when WB saw Live service as the big money maker. They hoped that Rocksteady's name alone and the Arkham story could build that hype for a game no one asked for, Suicide Squad. Replace all the Talent with DEI hires and you have your Modern WB games

Sure called it with Batman becoming Zurr-En-Arrh in the game back in the day. Shame he didn't become a surprisingly unreal boss battle where the Bat-Family had no choice but to end his misery, not unlike Wyatt/Fergus from Wolfenstein: The New Order. Honestly, would rather recommend the Wayne Family Adventures webcomic instead for what this game sorta should have been.

I agree! As for me personally, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS GAME!! It's the only 'Batman Type' Game I was able to Complete/Finish!! Also like the Co Op Mode & Made some Cool Friends Online!

There's plenty to criticize regarding this game (and even more for SS) but for me, hands down the most asinine idea was to dispense with the freeflow combat system. Like, other games had been imitating it after it was developed for AA, that's how good it felt. Why would they try to reinvent the wheel?

I played this after patches, but it was far better than what I saw reported. It also shines as a co-op game. Kinda dull solo. It didn't embody the Arkham series, but it has a lot of potential.

This game definitely isn't bad, especially when compared to a lot of other games in the same genre that have come out. This very easily could have been a Battle for the Cowl storyline with the Court of Owls sprinkled in to cause havoc. I do feel a prequel Batman DLC would resurrect this game and then some especially after Suicide Squad
