On a related note, mothman is objectively the sexiest crypted, no wonder why there are so many dating sims for him. Red eyes? Hot. Large fuzzy wings? Hot. Shows up to fuck with you? Good trait. I would fuck the mothman if I could.

Mothmen 1966 is a visual novel that released late 2021 but is not a romance. Highly recommend it.

You definitely need to check out a game called "No One Lives Under The Lighthouse"

Imagine a Fresno Nightcrawler game. I just wanna hang with some pants and their son Edit: I've always had the impression mothman was a quiet and nice, if terrifying, guy rather than a bloodthirsty monster like so many other cryptids. Many people who are enthusiastic about mothman might view him similarly and not think that he really fits the role of a horror game antagonist, but would work better as his own character... that you can date, I guess.

I wouldn't mind scarry mothman lore again, but I also kinda love that he is a LGBTQ+ icon.

I like to think mothman is an entity that is a form of deity or Demigod of sort. It is one that is man’s suffering and anguish and tragedy. I think it is like a moth to light but to tragedy and maybe that’s why we as the human race to call it the mothman. Maybe due to some strange magical presence of sort but then the stories of the one German shrieker creature and that mine, the blackbird of Chernobyl, and the sighting of mothman before the nucular accident in japan to me make it real and that it is a harbinger of doom.

I would love a videogame adaptation of The Mothman Prophecy book, where you play as John A. Keel himself, or some near-identical protagonist, and you investigate all sorts of high strangeness, wandering around Point Pleasant, or its equivalent, talking to townsfolk and putting together info from accounts and newspaper clippings, as well as doing field research with various equipment.

Also, it doesn't surprise me that there are a lot of Mothman romance games; that leans into the whole monster lover/teratophilia thing. I think some accessible examples of that are the Beast from Beauty & The Beast, and the Amphibian Man from Shape of Water.

There's a shooter called Trepang2 with a pretty distinct mothman appearance! though that doesn't exactly count under "mothman themed horror games"

Mothman in Russia is not exactly bringing it into a new region. Though the game is inaccurate anyway, I did hear somewhere of a "Black Bird of Chernobyl", a series of sightings of a large black winged being that fits the Mothman's description that made itself known in the time leading up to the Chernobyl disaster.

I'll copy-paste my comment here since there's a slightly bigger chance for you to notice it: do Ecstatica at one point maybe? There's a profound, dark horror game under these ellipsoids. It's consistent in its humorous, uncanny, disturbingly cruel tone, and when it takes hold - it doesn't let go. Besides, it was ahead of its time in terms of inventive gameplay mechanics and especially enemy behavior - these creatures felt alive.

The story of Mothman is pretty lame tho. There's one good movie about it that was pretty creepy until I read what it was based on (didn't know about Mothman before watching it) and then laughed my ass off.
