When I worked at Acura in the late 90's the NSX was $91,000 MSRP. Todays money that's $154,000. The Type S NSX started at $169,500 and came with a $6000 carbon roof which was an option 2017-2021. Add the lightweight package and your at $183,000. Not sure why people say it's overpriced. I own the NA1 & the Type S in LBBP and love them both. Very underrated indeed. If you have not owned one your missing out and should experience ownership at least once in your life.

Great video and beautiful type S. The NSX is definitely misunderstood and one of the most underrated cars of all time. I never considered this car when it came out because of the price. Like many others, I also thought the hybrid powertrain added unnecessary weight and complexity. This tends to be the view point of people who have never driven one. Several months back I was cross shopping 911 Turbo S and R8 V10+ and came across a second generation NSX by chance. I was blow away by how good the car looked in person. After one test drive I bought it on the spot. My favorite aspect was how the car could completely change feel with the different driving modes. Valved exhaust, valved intake, suspension, throttle response and steering all change with each mode. Sadly, these settings can’t be changed independently from the presets, but in quiet or sport mode the car is a very comfortable cruiser with great visibility, the same as any other Acura. In Sport + or track it feels like a proper race car. The hybrid power train is something you have to experience to appreciate but it is one of the defining characteristics of the car so I would not wish it away after experiencing it. The electric motors fill in torque down low eliminating turbo lag, they provide independent active torque vectoring up front and they keep momentum between shifts making for the smoothest shifts I’ve ever felt. It has a 9 speed transmission by the way, not 7. When shifting automatically it won’t go above 7 in sport plus or track mode but you can still shift in to 8 or 9 manually when cruising on the interstate. At 200 or 300K these cars are hard to rationalize compared to the other options in that price range so it’s understandable why they failed to get market traction but clean low mileage like new NSX can be found in the 120s or 130s now. When you compare it to the other alternatives in this price range (I test drove most of them) this car suddenly makes a lot more sense.

I personally feel the NSX is overhated, and was just ahead of its time, I mean look at almost every supercar coming out now, they are all hybrids, the Mclaren Artura, Ferrari 296 GTB, Lamborghini Revuelto. All these cars supercars are now hybrids years after Acura did it first, I think the NSX was a sad case of just being too early to the market, before the market was ready

That's kind of a flawed mindset when it comes to sports cars like Ferraris and Lamborghinis are they usually have pretty good warranties like Ferrari has a 7-year one so reliability really isn't a concern until it's a 15 year old used car this is a sports car not a family sedan

Haters gonna hate because it's that good. My 2019 is nice, but my 2022 Type S is NAUGHTY! Until you driven these you can't understand what they have to offer. The only car I can compare it to is the Porsche 911 Turbo S I drove, but this gets more looks and will be worth much more one day because they only made 350. I am honored to own these and almost parted with my 2019, but I couldn't do it. I have tracked the 2019, but the weight is an issue going through a set of tires in 3 track days, but with a 700hp tune I did keep up with a GT3 at Watkins Glen.

I think the price was not too bad(other than dealer markups). At the time of release, the only hybrid performance cars were the holy trinity (P1, Laferrari, 918) that were close to $1 million. You got a car with the same ethos of those 3 for a fraction of the price, relatively speaking of course. And on top of that, the Honda reliability/build quality. Also, a lot of journalists who reviewed this car all kinda had the same idea: very good car, but not for the price. Now that it’s gone, there’s no doubt that these will skyrocket in price used, just like Hondas other discontinued sports cars.

Honestly I never liked the look of the old NSX when I was younger. I grew into though when I met a guy who had one in Championship White. He was genuinely excited about it. I thought it was cool. Then it got totalled and he bought a Supra. This was back when they were cheap. He found another NSX that was black. I immediately fell in love with that car and he sold the Supra to a buddy of mine so it stayed in the fam. The old NSX in black is timeless and I want one. I've also seen the new NSX. It's the prettier car. Honestly I hope sales tank so I can own the new one. I don't even want to drive it fast. It just looks that good. Unfortunately you don't see them so I see them going the way of the LFA unfortunately Edit: for everyone thinking I'm crazy I didn't find the old NSX attractive, I was alive when it came out and the poster children were the Countach, Testarossa, Viper, Calloway Corvette, F40... Yea I'm pretty sure everyone was expecting the NSX to be what the NSX Type S is. There was no way they were ever going to make it a manual for 70k. Car was always going to be at least 6 figures and automatic (just faster than a manual) and especially with the hybrid drive system. The Type S fixes everything that was wrong with the front end of the regular NSX (did you know they had THREE different types of hexagonal lattice grill on the front end of the second gen NSX? WHY!?). Honda/Acura definitely made tons of mistakes with the second gen NSX, and not just in styling. It's just unfortunate that car companies don't ever seem to listen to their actual customers and culturally popular cars end up getting cancelled in the end.

Price on these is what hurt them. I’m not even saying they weren’t worth the ask… BUT much like the later years of the R35 GT-R, when the price is near/meets that of a new 911 Turbo, AMG GT, R8, some Huracans, etc.; people who have the means to either cut the check or finance that amount don’t tend to view the Acura in the same light. Whether that’s accurate is irrelevant if they refuse to buy the cars for that belief.

Acura NSX is a better driving car than most sports/supercars, the only reason why it isn't selling is just brand recognition. Most people, including sports/supercar buyers don't really know anything about cars, they are buying the the shape, the color, the badge, the switches and dials, they really don't understand what a great steering, great driving position, or a great engine feels like. My 10th gen Accord Touring feels better than most sedans double the price, but it won't sell for more because "it's just a Honda".

What about a RWD, manual v6 would've been an "NSX"? Sounds like something Ferrari did 50 years ago, not something New or eXperimental Regardless, the old NSX' had the same MSRP when adjusted for inflation, this was the perfect modernised NSX, most people just don't know what the old NSX was past how it looks

The newer NSX exterior was designed by an American team fwiu, and i think thats my issue with the way it looks. It looks like a Lambo just had some S660/Honda influence lol. Some multinational designs have been great, but this one just didnt have that JDM simplicity or eccentricity, something i think at least the visual design of say the new Z and the GR Supra (visually, obv not the powertrain lol) have, respectively.

I have always been conflicted about the gen 2 nsx. I always thought they looked pretty nice in photos. Then I saw one in person and it blew me away. Stunning in my opinion. I would have loved this with just a twin turbo v6. I also would have loved it even if it was electric. We got both, and it seems almost pathetic that they needed a 3.5 liter v6, two turbos ,and three whole ass electric motors to make 570ish hp. It just seems needlessly complicated and could have been much lighter if they had picked one or the other. Not to mention cheaper.

Awd, auto, turbo, electric=driver. Just closecl your eyes, mash the pedal, and be a good little passenger, like all these generic ass cars these days. Some just don't get the joy of analog cars that require the driver to do the heavy lifting, not computers. I'd drive a yugo before any of this new b.s.

IMO the 2nd gen NSX doesn't look bad especially with the new type S package, and it performs super well... But the electric components and batteries that made that possible added a ton of weight. There's just so much technology packed into the 2nd gen... All this stuff can make this car a very comfortable high performance DAILY DRIVER. BUT the lack of all that stuff is what made the 1st gen NSX so appealing. 1st gen NSX was Simple, light weight, hands-off "let the driver screw up", easy to fix and maintain. Next time you get a chance to visit Acura... Ask them if its possible to go back to a very minimalist light weight sports car that the 1st gen was. Hopefully something that can at least compete with the new mid-engine corvette's in price to performance.

Somethings not right, when you reviewed other cars, your smile said it all. This review (forgive me) sounds like talking points. The "It's fast" or "Whoo", doesn't sell me that you like it as much as you say. For instance, when you drove a quick civic, the red Supra from the airport, driving the McLaren, those were smiles!!! The viewrs can see the body language that you didn't want to get out of them. With the new Type S, feels like you want to say nice things about it, to not shame the brand, or the owner. Once again, my small opinion.

I always liked what they did with this car, I just wonder if they had toned it down just a tad (like maybe just electric front axle and ICE rear - ie one fewer electric motor) to keep the price a little lower, it would have been better received. Even just different trim/power levels, kinda like the R8. But with inflation, it wasn't that outrageous compared to the old ones.

Give me the NSX Type S, rip out the hybrid keep it MR layout. And rename it to Type RS. The reason why it flopped in the beginning was def the price point and the overly complex hybrid system and the torque vectoring system. The R35 stuck to the same formula for years even when they changed from the R34 to R35 platform. 6 cylinders twin turbo and ATTESA ETS AWD. And ppl still love the R35. Sure getting its age. But i do wish the R36 GTR will have the same DNA as GTRs of the past.

the only thing that sucked about the second gen nsx being out was that the Integra type s tlx type s and it no coupes out while they were selling the car.. acura needed to use the nsx to have buyers come into the showroom. and then still then on the other type s models.. or a coupe.. if acura also had a new cl and it rsx they would have moved numbers.

Screw the haters; I love the new NSX and if I was a rich man I'd absolutely own one. Sadly I'm too poor for either generation lol. With that said, I think the C8 Corvette is what most people wanted this NSX to be, and I think if they did that (with the lower price to match), it would have been much better received.

Honda should have just put in a 450-500 hp twin turbo v6 in it. A new wider chassis with improved structural integrity and larger wheels and tires. I sat in the NSX at the auto show a few years back and it felt absolutely like nothing special, so they need to improve the interior as well.

I think another thing that is not mentioned with the NSX, you will probably not be needing to go to the dealership all the time, with incredibly high repair bills. Also, there are way more Honda dealerships around, if you do, versus, Lambo, Ferrari etc. Not to mention, Lambos, Farraris, cost a bit more new, than the NSX did.

I feel like most people don't care about supercars because they know they'll never own one, like, what's the point of buying a super expensive NSX when you can grab a 7th Gen Accord, K or J Series that ain't rusted out, and have endless parts for it because they made so damn many of them, and spend maybe 12k in total to make something about 70% as fast. Most people won't buy, they'll build

easily predicable how acura was going to butcher this car There's no written or unwritten rule that you can't take a fun car from the past that shaped your brand, and modernize it but keep true to the original styling. These companies are fascinated with throwing established names on completely unrecognizable products and expecting to get the same results from before. That's simply stupid. Need less "dream car is tesla fanboys" and more car enthusiasts in the automotive design world. When it comes to sports cars or fun cars, leave the tablet babysitters to design the next minivan or truck, but keep them away from the real cars.
