The Tragedy of Titanfall 1 & 2

For those of you who are unaware, there is currently a client mod out for Titanfall 2 that restores the multiplayer to it's former glory. It is called the Northstar client and while I don't know much about it, it makes it to where you can continu playing Titanfall 2 even today. I personally use Northstar, there are almost always at least 80 players, which is a small amount, but enough for at least 3 servers (Northstar uses a Server Browser, so you can pick which server you join, so its easier to just join servers with 1 or 2 free slots), and it fixes a security issue in vanilla titanfall 2 which lets your origin account be entered WITHOUT your password. Play on Northstar

Both Titanfall games were incredible and shining beacons of consumer friendly practices and giving the fans what they want. People wanted a more in depth campaign? TF2 made one of the best FPS campaigns ever. People wanted more interesting Pilot and Titan customization? TF2 did that. Even all the main content of the game was free updates other than some cosmetic skins which even then were only about $3. AND THIS WAS AN EA GAME.

I would always be surprised when I was playing Titanfall 2 to find out it's an EA game. I remember playing and trying to convince friends to get it, back when loot boxes and microtransactions were rampant and you could pay 2 win. Titanfall you had to work for it. Wanted a gun early? Play the game and save up the tokens given and boom! You got the gun permanently. Loved Titanfall so much.

Also for abandoning the games as a whole because apex makes them money, like how bioware abandoned anthem when ea had them on a project, and they abandon other things when given creative control back. Respawn at any moment could return to Titanfall, but sadly I don't think it'll ever happen, they lead us along with lies for several years, and didn't do anything about the game's state. Only mentioning it in Apex to try win us over again.

No. The devs are 100% at fault. They kept bringing up Titanfall 2 to make Apex get bigger, they lied through their teeth, and when the community realized no one was coming to save them, they tried to save themselves which resulted in the clusterfuck it is now. This all started because the devs couldn't be fucked into caring about what is easily and objectively their best work yet

@@thekekman8483 See I would agree with that statement if the community hadn’t just stopped asking for fixes when they had numbers behind them from Titanfall day and didn’t get into a civil war over absolutely ludicrous accusations. P0 supposedly was getting into contact with Respawn at the time but got sidelined by accusations. There is also hardly any support for fan-made projects such as Northstar client with people actively choosing to play on vanilla instead of Northstar despite how busted the matchmaker is for vanilla Titanfall. Northstar still has yet to go over 400 players but has enough servers to support over 2000 players and it has progressively lost players ever since the EA sale went by.

Been playing vanilla titanfall 2 consistently for a month now, the queue times continue to get faster and faster. It is truly wonderful and I am glad the game works, I've even seen a large number of new players flood in after the sales.

EDIT: Just launched the game and multiplayer works well, no problem! -I tried it 3 weeks ago and it kicked me out multiple times. I searched online and there were mentions that only people in the default "ADVOCATE" network are affected. I was wondering if you are ADV or not?-

@@viocto1627 for me my queue times are often a minute when I queue solo and the whole matchmaking glitch happens quite often (once every other time I search for matches) I just have played the game too long to be bothered by it anymore. Try to queue alone for just Attrition and that will likely get you into a game before the matchmaking issue happens.

I loved Titanfall and 2. I hate multiplayer games with a passion, because I never have time to sit-down and grind through multiplayer and it brings out a side of me I really don’t like… The multiplayer felt cinematic, the NPCs were genius because it made the game have a sense of scale.

The Grunts were there to sell you the idea it was an actual warzone and empower the player, whilst also give less skilled Pilots a way to contribute to the game, rather than just feeding the opposing side and having a shit time.

How Respawn abandoned this IP is unforgiveable. As soon as they made Apex and got a taste of that freemium money, they immediately left the game to die. They did the gaming equivalent of leaving your wife because you can't be bothered to deal with her cancer diagnoses. Absolutely disgusting. Titanfall 2 did so many things right. The community loved and praised Respawn as passionate developers who cared. And as a reward for our dedication, they spat in our face. Screw you, buy our lootboxes. How about no Respawn. You specifically advertised Titanfall 2 as being consumer friendly without lootboxes, then immediately turned around after sabotaging your own game with a terrible release window. Complete sellouts. No content in a while, small playerbase at start due to bad marketing and awful release window between Battlefield and Cod, and all the hacks that took place. Even tho the first game didn't have a singleplayer campaign, it still had one, it was multiplayer only, but still really good, and most importantly, actual fun. I haven't seen Mech Warrior so I'm not gonna say it's trash, unlike you, who never played a decent movement shooter and just sits there talking shit about games you dont know and haven't played because your life is so sad this is the only way you get attention. Go play Titanfall 2's campaign, and multiplayer through northstar if you want more, then we can talk. Titanfall 2 on PC is far from dead. The playercount is surging and even if attacks resume, people can circumvent them by using the new Northstar mod client. Instead of being all doom and gloom, how about you add on the Happy Ending at the end for Titanfall 2. I play the game daily and I can tell you there’s even a ton of new players flowing in, and a lot of old players coming back. There isn’t just hope for the game, Titanfall 2 is being actively not just maintained, but updated with new content by a community developer. New Gamemodes are even being added.

Gen 10 Pilot here. Love the video. For me, Titanfall 2 lost it by removing the Titan’s regenerating shield in multiplayer. That first game…, still lost for words for how revolutionary and brilliant it was. Nothing like winning a game, then taking down the escape ship too! Or, losing and getting away! Or killing an ejecting pilot. Or needing to get somewhere, and a team mate Titan crouching so you can jump onboard. So many great moments.

I still remember getting the original for my PC back in 2014, and I suuuuuuuucked at it. I'd constantly die, and I didn't particularly like the parkour mechanics, HOWEVER, in time I learned the ins and outs of how to play and eventually it got to a point where I was at the top of my team's leaderboards pretty consistently. It's the game that convinced me shooters could be so much more than just generic army stuff. Sadly, I never picked up its sequel, and knowing how bad the online has gotten, I don't really feel compelled to. It's shame the Titanfall franchise died out. I love mechs and I learned to love the combat, but I guess not all things can last. I've heard Apex Legends is good, but with all the microtransactions in place, I'm not too sure.

Thank you very much for highlighting the original Titanfall in all of this, no one ever talked about it. It's personally my favorite FPS ever made and I now have to play it on my Xbox 360 to even play the game anymore. I do definitely think that it's Respawns fault as in the beginning of the TF1 issues P0 highlighted like 20 easy fixes they could do in the Remnant Fleet discord. I'm finally glad the entire war is over with all the drama and such, but I wish TF1 could've survived through it. All I can wait for is the Titanfall Online project to hopefully revive the small playerbase it had and bring more people in as it should be free from what I remember.

I'm gen 100 and been playing since 2016 , tbh starting to get stale now , same maps over and over rinse and repeat . Too many noobs that just get stomped . Server connection is real shit also , I use to play on Auzy servers . But they died , only so many hours of any video game you can play then gets very repetitive , I have well over 2000 hours lol . Sure it's one of my go to games but I don't have the spark I use to when playing it I use to . I often listen to music and play , and have a few drinks to keep it interesting . The horrible ping is kinda off putting because I have to play at 200 + ping . It was a good ride for sure . Got crazy good with the kraber . I play on PC , the only reason I still play is because of the krabering trick shots I can pull off , wingman is cool also

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Titanfall? I thought not. It’s not a story the Apex players would tell you. It’s a Pilot legend. Titanfall was a great game of Respawn, so good and so fast it could use it's potential to influence the devs to create other movement shooters. It had such a knowledge of movements that it could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The movement in a game is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. It became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of was losing it's player base, which eventually, of course, happened. Unfortunately, it taught Apex Legends everything he knew, then the DDOSer killed it in it's sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself...

It is 100% respawns fault because they crumbled under pressure against stuff that can be easily removed with some type of anticheat put into their game and they just decided to crumble the future of titanfall which is one of the greatest games ive ever played

I vividly remember being kicked myself for weeks on end off TF2, and then I was there for the apex hack and was already in the remnant fleet discord. I remember talking to PO before man. It's almost uncanny how similar the history of these very different games are. High profile shooter with a heavy emphasis on movement that released to critical and commercial success and influenced a ton of other fps games, with some of these inspirations becoming bigger than they did, having very dedicated fans who became very good due to the games having high skill ceilings even years after getting no more content, even having the same abbreviation, and dealing with rampant hackers and bots for years while the devs do nothing and it becomes up to the community to make fixes to avoid the problem (whether it's dedicated community servers or a custom client that allows community servers)

Bro I re-downloaded Titanfall 2 a couple months ago in order to play some Frontier defense because it's been years since I played Titanfall 2 and I missed it! When I got on and tried to play a match I would get locked into place then booted from the match. I contacted EA and respond and told them everything and nothing they said would fix it! I can't even play some damn wave-based game play against AI..... Titanfall 2 needs to be fixed that was one of my most favorite games I've ever played and after I took a long break and came back the game was completely broken because some Vigilantes took things TO DAM FAR! I'm so happy I found this video and figured out what the hell is actually going on. Appreciate it I cannot wait to share this video my friends. Thankfully the part about the TF2 player count being low is wrong, it is still hanging between 5000-10000 on an average day, and while matches take a while to load due to server problems, the game is still entirely playable if you are patient. There is also Northstar too if those problems are too inconvenient to deal with. Nonetheless this video was great Robo! I am a proud fan of the "Titanfall" franchise. In fact, I'm kind of addicted to it. I played it for 12 hours straight yesterday and didn't get bored. Yes, the servers are back up and there's an online player count in the "Find Game" interface. Yesterday, I saw that there was about 2,000 - 2,500 people online. There used to be close to 7,500 - 10,000 on a weekday. Those numbers would basically double on weekends. However, the hacks that happened made the player count go so far down, that for a while, the player count was so low it only showed "..." This most likely meant that the was only about 500 people at max online. Titanfall 2 is making a slow recovery and I hope we get to go back to normal eventually.

Northstar is the closest thing to that right now. You're able to have first person embarks/executions and there are even some servers that give Titans regenerating shields just like the first game. It's going to be awesome to see what the community comes up with.

Titanfall 1 and 2 are absolute masterpieces in each's own right. They are beautiful games with indepth and complex movement that are extremely addicting to learn. Its the only fps campaign that has had a lasting effect on me and ive replayed multiple times. The multiplayer (although unbalanced a bit) is still super fun and theres player made mods such as Northstar for pc which make the game playable indefinitely for the core community. This group of people are so inspiring that we have rallied together over a game we love and it has united us to be stronger than we could ever be alone

As long as I remember, there are 3 types of hacking and I'm not talking white, black and grey, No ! The 3 types are Destructive ( destroying/harming the software or change its properties/proposes ), Performance ( where the hacker gains extra performance from the victim's hardware ) and Tracking ( where the victim is followed and no longer has a privacy ) Can't we hack him down ? Tracking hacks are the best for this, Account highjacking is a well-known method, but instead of selling the account you can see his personal information and a location will be critical. He is illegally hacking a game, he got no back up when you send pictures of where he lives, what he do and who are his beloved people. Now... Find someone who can scare the sh*t outta him !

Jeanue could have very well been sued by content creators and the company that made both games, as what he did is harassement, violation of property and with how far as he did, he could face prison for hacking the game and banning accounts, making Respawn lose players and probably even share holders, even if we don't know who he is, by opening a case and causing an investigation to play out, we could have found who he was and he would have been arrested for at least a maximum of 5 years i think.

I think it is worth mentioning that titanfall 2 is still highly playable and has a pretty decent playercount right now thanks to the Northstar client that introduces the ability to host your own servers and adding a serverbrowser and etc. modding capabilities to the game. With being community made, it recieves full time support and is genuinely more fun and engaging than the base game ever was.

A lot evidence and people pointed that Jeanue was someone within respawn. The blacklist they developed for Titanfall 2 would have only been possible if you had access to respawns side of the servers. That's why the Northstar client works. Because Jeanue doesn't have access to that server. It's also how he was able to ban streamers no matter their IP, name, or anything else they could do to disguise themselves. And a lot of people speculate that respawn was trying to kill Titanfall so that it'd be one less thing to worry about, and so that they could truly dokey focus on the cash cow that is Apex. It's unfortunate, that Respawn was so passionate about Titanfall, and then they just pissed it all away...

One correction, about when the Respawn "help ASAP" tweet and till the removing of Titanfall 1, the game was mostly playable. Don't remember if it was cause Jeanue was laying low after all the exposure or if Respawn actually changed something server side, but you could get in games and play them no problem about 9/10 times. So, when Respawn decided to remove the game from store, the community was quite confused since the game was working almost perfectly. Tl;Dr: Respawn "fixed" Titanfall, to then remove it from the store
