As I was born in ‘71 I do remember faintly the effect of this wholesome show. Now I am watching it streamed through KZbin. So of course I get the chance to watch these stellar women and cast… from the start and looking back at their time spent in their younger days. The roles these ladies presented were attractive, witty, smart and secure in themselves… without the burning desire to exist without a male role being the orbit they revolved around. Refreshing. I didn’t realise how gorgeous Cloris Leachman was with such beautiful eyes as I knew of her talent when she was much older. I find it amazing that such a high quality show came about while living a personal life … with such adversity. And that was only Mary’s storyline…. People really can face times if sorrow but still find the will power to connect, share joy and hope that others can muster it through life together and still find something to share within a funny moment. I feel by know all the cast has passed on… talent that will never be extinguished or replaced. 😊

I loved MTM so much, it was part of my Saturday night with my mom when I was in grade school. I enjoyed any episode that included one of Mary’s spectacularly bad parties. How could someone so charming have so many bad parties? I was sad when the show came to an end, but it made sense. Later in the 80’s, I began working at a high end restaurant in the area I lived. I got to meet so many actors, celebrities, artists, it was a fun time. I always hoped to meet Mary or Valerie, but I settled on Georgia Engel. As I approached her table to greet her, I was shocked that when she answered, Georgette’s voice came out. She actually spoke that way. I also got to meet one of my first t.v. crushes the day David Groh walked in. I quickly went to the host stand to say hello. He asked to see the menu, but sadly we were too fancy for lunch and I gave him a few recommendations. I was broken hearted as he left, and I kind of knew how Rhoda felt when Joe walked out on her. The day Mary died, my husband couldn’t tell me since I was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. I found out after I was released and felt like an old friend had gone. I still have my DVD’s, and all of Mary’s awful parties.

Hi john.....I watched it with my mom too. It was like a ritual. This brings back so many memories. I have the series on disc's. I cry when it comes on...The theme by Sonny Curtis is beautiful, then I'm laughing. This show was a classic. I miss my mom and this great lady.

The episode where Ted proposed to Georgette on the air was one of the funniest for sure. Ted then says, "and now the weather my darling" - which resulted in Lou running into the studio after him. So funny.

The death of chuckles the clown was my favorite episode. I first saw reruns of the show when I would get home from my first job at 2am. The chuckles episode had me laughing out loud at 2am. My mom would come to my room to ask me what I was watching that I was laughing so loud. It was awesome !

I found out from a Rose Marie doc. that she HATED MTM. When the Dick Van Dyke Show initially started, it was all Rob Petrie at the office with Buddy and Sally. Then Carl Reiner decided to add more of Rob's home life and Mary Tyler Moore was brought in, and the family scenes took off, and became a bigger part of the show than the office scenes. Rose Marie (who played Sally) was just enraged about this, and, I guess, since she felt she couldn't take it out on Reiner, she took it out on Mary and really made her life miserable for a while. Then, before the show went on hiatus one season, Reiner told Rose Marie he wanted her to give a lot of thought to whether she wanted to be on the show after the hiatus. If not, fine, but if she did, she would have to completely and totally lay off Mary. If she came back and kept on antagonizing her, she would be fired. The new season started, Rose Marie returned with the rest of the cast and she quit being nasty to Mary.

7;20 I read that MTM wanted to continue the MTM show another 2 years but James Brooks the producer and all of the writers wanted to go onto other things. It was realized that if him and the writers were not on board the show would lack depth and everyone wanted the show to be a hit show. 3:20 Barbara Colby was a really great actress. She was in the first Columbo episode and the character she played on it was completely different from the character she played on MTB.

She was a different person who couldn't be type cast. She wanted to show that woman can wear pants and be just as beautiful, successful. Didn't know the impact it made, but I watched it and it was so funny and real. Ed Asner is the only one left but if I incorrect, I apologize. A trailblazer, pioneer she was. She overcame so much heartbreak fought for a cure for Diabetes. One of a kind person who left a lasting legacy on standing up for equality instead of being discriminated. Thanks Ms. Moore. Dear friends, please know that Jesus Christ our Lord and our Savior, is The WAY, The TRUTH, and The LIFE! The greatest decision you will EVER make is welcoming Jesus Christ into your life right now!! Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord of your life. Believe in His death on the cross, burial and resurrection for the sins of all human-kind and you will be saved. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, may Father God, our Creator bless you in the Glorious name of His Son, Jesus Chris our Lord and Savior. 🙏

I've watched a number of episodes of the show throughout the years but was never a big enough fan to watch it "Religiously.". I think the first episode was great with Mary and Rhonda arguing over the apartment Philis had rented her that Rhonda has been waiting for. Another reason why I liked the first show was during the interview with Lou. I love his line, "you've got SPUMK" when Mary smiles until he adds, "I HATE spunk!". I don't watch too many finale shows but I did watch the one for MTM. I have always had a hard time with good byes ever since I was three. MTM, Family Ties and Home improvement we three of these that drew tears.
