The way it's desperate to make its own universe is like Batman v Superman too. All these bad movies trying to jumpstart a universe to emulate the MCU and they forget to make a good movie. The MCU movies were good movies first before they became a universe. People forgot it's as simple as just make the movie good ...

You highlighted the main problem with modern Hollywood. Every sequel, prequel, reboot, remake, spin-off... they all have previous, often beloved, works or franchises, so whoever saw them before is expecting something from these things. But then we discover that they are mostly soulless cash grabs (looking at you, Disney), and they have nothing of value to add to the source material. Then the authors of these sequels/remakes get angry because "people shouldn't compare these to the originals". YOU DID THIS! You made it EXACTLY because it was tied to a more successful movie or show, and you get pissy because the fans criticize you? I sincerely hope that this phase comes soon to an end, because every time something original is allowed to be made, it's 10x better than whatever remake they're planning for the future. Screw you, Hollywood.

The electro storyline I believe was stolen from an episode in the animated series that was playing on MTV a while back. Where there is a girl who kept messing up Spider-Man because of her infatuation and shrine of him. The messed up thing for me was that they gave Jamie Foxx that embarrassing looking white guy comb over. Like it is almost impossible for a black person's hair to be done like that unless you use Jerry curl or some junk LOL. At that point I couldn't take the movie seriously at all

Despite its flaws, I still like this movie a lot and the first one. On the topic of Spidey not wanting to share blood, there's this understandable uncertainty surrounding if his blood would be safe. Harry was also pretty desperate and seemed almost unhinged. I don't believe the movie had to directly state what they're already implying. Every interaction between Peter and Harry was uncomfortable.

Loved seeing the retrospectives on all the old movies! I would love to see you cover the MCU Tom Holland trilogy as well in the future, since it wraps all the live action movie generations together. But I'd also understand if that'd be too difficult to do if you aren't into the MCU as a whole since you usually need a decent little bit of context from the surrounding movies to know what's going on.

People use thier Meta knlwodge that Sony was planning supposedly a bunch of future movies to then read so much of this film thorugh that lense. Seen on it's own everything in this film till the post climax stuff servs the plot of this film specifically in some way, and then at the end I woudl have without that metaknloedge only assume done future film was being set up Amazing SPiderman 3, my outside knloedge that the SInister Six were suposed to have their own seperate film makes me view Sony as stupid, but it doesn't effect this film. Rhino is a Old Open and then a Coda, that's all he needs to be, minor villians play similar roles in other Superhero films all the time without anyone copmlaing. All those things in the cases are refrences to other Spiderman villians, but they're also just things Oscorp Built, it'd be odd a for scene in that location to have nothing there. I enjoyed this movie perfectly fine.

Great review, though I find Spider-Man 3 better than The Amazing Spider-Man 2. As flawed as it was, Spider-Man 3 still had a lot of good in it and the ending in my opinion still ended up being a satisfying conclusion. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 however was just a whole mess even messier than Spider-Man 3 that I couldn't even find the film funny. But regardless, I'm interested to see your reviews of the MCU Trilogy with Tom Holland.

I can't even understand what the hell is going on, It tries to soave all these plots as once it doesn't work. First you got Electro then you got Harry's sickness which later he becomes Green Goblin then he has his plot of his problems trying to get with Gwen and then you got his plot trying to find out about his parents. The movie has 4 plots in total it tries to put them all into one movie but just doesn't work, I feel bad for Andrew he was a great Peter Parker but was trapped in these bad films... Sorry Andrew as much as I like Andrew his series was bad. I don't even think it was a good idea to make a sequel because the first movie was just "meh" to begin with and if you are gonna make a second movie then ONLY HAVE ONE OR TWO PLOTS NOT ANYMORE THEN THAT IT RUINS THE MOVIE!!!! Maybe save Green Goblin for movie number 3

I love this movie unironically, so naturally I hated every second of this video and it made me seethe a little bit. It makes me sad to see people rip this movie apart and acknowledge the good while maintaining it didn't work for whatever arbitrary reason. I could explain why a lot of this criticism is funky, but I've defended this movie to the point of exhaustion. I'll just say I think this movie is marvelously heartfelt, visually creative, and thematically beautiful. I definitely didn't expect to love it so much when I first saw it, since I was so annoyed with the first one. It pleasantly surprised me that it became my favorite Spider-Man movie, and still is to this day. This movie made me fall in love with Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man. I hope if you rewatch it maybe you can see how it came together a little better, I think it has its act together more than most people realize. But I don't blame anyone for not seeing it that way when the first film was so nonsensical and there was so much cynicism surrounding Sony's iron grip on the character at the time it released that still lingers over this film's sentimental value today. I think Marc Webb took the whacky studio mandates and made a swan song to the character anyway, knowing it might be his one and only chance to make something legitimately soulful; and people understandably don't like the idea that something like that can work with such heavy oversight, so they view it with that bad faith mentality and never really see the movie from a true believer perspective.
