Consider this: Nebraska got beat by a backup quarterback (Sitkowski) who left Rutgers because he got beat out by Verdal, who left Nebraska because he got beat out by Adrian Martinez.

@@justinalley3399 Agreed. He seems to be decent at middle/upper squad management (aka his Oregon position) but appears to have been thrust into a Power Conference HC job way too soon. Plus his apparent moral failings and NCAA investigations may provide UNL with the ammo needed to fire him without paying the hefty contract buyout fees.

I'm from Brooklyn. The Rutgers flagship campus is about 30 miles southwest. Hardly anyone on the east side of the Hudson River (New York) cares about Rutgers Football. This is arguably Syracuse/Penn State country, with a sizable ND alum base as well. I'm a Nebraska fan going back to 77, and losing a game to Rutgers would feel nearly as bad as losing to a non power 5 program. Rutgers football has been pathetic for such a long time, but at some point Schiano will have them surprising a lot of teams. The guy can coach his tail off. What is really scary to me is that the proud and once mighty Nebraska has been to making a habit of struggling with, and even losing to the traditional doormat programs of the Big Ten.

By 150 contributors whose names are revealed vs any other poll your find, where you have no clue who did the ranking. Anyway Neb comes in #4 on that list and LSU 2019 was not born yet. When Espn has another, LSU will be #1. I would completely own you in a Neb95 vs LSU2019 comparison. I am talking about ranking them against the competition they played not playing each other. Can't do that across 25 years. I can bring 25 stats where LSU wins 22, Neb 3. Like Ranked teams beaten (game time) Ranked teams beaten (Final) 7,4 Teams beaten that beat a ranked team in their bowl. 5, 1. NC coaches beaten 2, 0 Defending NCs beaten 1, 0 Heisman players on the team 1, 0 Defending Heisman beaten 1, 0 Greatest coaches ever beaten 1,0 Strength of schedule 6th, 24th and blah, blah. * Neb beat every team by double digits right. 7/11 teams they faced lost at avg of 6 games (4 to 8) by double digits. * 3 of the top 10 ranked teams they beat lost 2 by double digits. Find another top 10 where that happens. * in 89 years of AP polls never have 2 of the three (CO, KS and KSU) finished ranked in to top 10. All 3 did that year. and trust me I can go on and on. 95 was a complete FING farce.

You're right. He has looked miserable the entire time. I've heard it's because NU promised when they hired him to fundraise the amount necessary to increase the recruiting budget, build new facilities, and hire more off-field analysts. Here we are, 4 years later, and they haven't really gotten those projects off the ground yet. There's been some friction over that behind the scenes apparently.

But since you have, I hope you have thick Skin and can argue your points. I feel kinda like Luke Skywalker saying " Everything you just said is wrong " Most of all who out in Football Land COULD come right into Lincoln and perform the way it seems more and more fans think we should be playing. What is most comical is not a single average fan has a clue just how far we had fallen and how much work had to be done just to put a team on the field that all it's players were recruited by the same Staff. That's just the least of problems Frost faced when he got home. OK BOTTOM LINE is like this, This is the first real test of Frost and what he can do as head coach. I'm going to wait a couple of seasons now that he seems to have all his poop in one group and if at the end of the 2023-24 season were still fighting the same old CRAP that has been our biggest problem from day one. So while your doing your clunk bait thing I will be watching for incremental day by day growth. Frost is constantly crying and making excuses. He cried about Colorado trying to intentionally injure his QB a few years ago, too many media timeouts when they played Minnesota, and even Iowa clapping their hands on the sideline causing bad snaps. Great coaches don't cry and make excuses like Frost does. There's a reason successful QBs usually don't make good coaches; his success at UCF was a fluke.

Nebraska requires three things to start winning again. 1- better talent 2-more confidence 3-better coaching How do you rate a coach. Bear Bryant said this: "Want to know how your coach is doing, look at the scoreboard." A good coach at school A might not be a good coach at school B. The powers that be at Nebraska need to analyze what they can do today and what they need to get better tomorrow, and to stop trying to recreate the past glory. Today is the day, not then. Start with basics and build like was done at Kansas State at Boise State. Some coaches can do with less and win, others have to have a sideline full of talent.

Scott Frost didn't really want him but hell he can't recruit anyone to come out there in cow polk country? He's proved that he can coach as long as he has the players. There's a big difference between the state of Florida and Nebraska when it comes to football today. Only way Nebraska gets back on top as if they start paying some big money to top recruits because other than that they're finished and it's not Scott Frost's fault even though he deserves to be let go if he has a poor season. The next coach will have a poor season after Scott Frost leaves because the same issues will exist.

Another thing that needs to be noted is the recruiting and not just the Joe Burrow mistake. The recruiting IN HIS OWN STATE has been horrible. Missed out on almost every top recruit from class of 2021. Koby Bretz was the only the big true grab and everything else was small school names. Took a class C1 quarterback who didn’t even win the state title over a 3 Star, Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year winner, Class A state champion and arguably the greates QB to come out of Nebraska high school since Easton Stick. All because he’s a lefty. Also missed out on a 4 star defensive back and DT for a 6’7” rusher who is slow as molasses against strong competition. Plus 2020’s top QB who is now the #1 JUCO QB in the country. Frost continues to think that kids in Nebraska “dream of playing at memorial” but they don’t. At least the true great players don’t on high performing teams. I haven’t even begun to talk about this years class. Look up Bellevue West, Millard South, Westside and Elkhorn South’s top recruits this year. Not one is going to Nebraska. Frost better pray he gets Zane Flores

As a lifetime Husker fan (which isn't long cause I'm only 21 lol), I will say that this team shows zero signs of bouncing back. Scott has the worst play calling ability, and has made some of the worst decisions I've seen (like going for a QB Draw on every 3rd and Long last season). Personally, I think we won't have a chance of being good until Martinez is out of Nebraska. I don't know why, but Frost doesn't see how actually Adrian is as a QB. Dude has been terrible since his second season at NU. Hopefully everything changes once Martinez is gone, otherwise I don't know what Nebraska can do. If we fire Frost, then who do we hire after him? No coach is gonna want the job. If we are willing to fire our Golden Boy Head Coach after 4 seasons, then obviously we wouldn't be afraid to do that against any other coach that comes through... not exactly inviting. Unfortunately, it could honestly be another decade or two before Nebraska even comes close to smelling a National Championship. Great video as always, man!

Scott Frost had over three years to prep for the game; the same game that Bielema had merely weeks for. Hands-down, Frost isn't capable of doing any better. Nebraska is not a dried-up, boneyard for football. It can be fixed, and it comes down to the administration making better decisions. Out of the Group of the 'Former' 5: Miami, Texas, Michigan, Nebraska, and Tennessee, someone eventually has to break out of this rut.

Scott Frost isn't a bad coach - Scott Frost wasn't ready to take on a giant fixer upper like Nebraska. He should have been at UCF for at least another 3-5 years then done some work at a power of 5 with some more resources like TCU or Miami then MAYBE tried his luck at Nebraska. Nebraska is a "I'm 10 years off retirement job" where you've learnt a plethora of different skills that could help such a struggling program and have the pedigree to prove you can but if it doesn't work out you're ok with going to Kent State with your head in shame because you've only got a decade left in you. Nebraska was Scott's 2nd head coaching job ever. I get why he took it because it's his alma mater but he wasn't ready and I really wish he had stayed at UCF for a bit longer.
@robjohnson8861
@robjohnson8861 3 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't you love to confront the decision makers in say a large auditorium? Scott did a great job in 2017 with mostly Oleary's recruits. Coaches need to be evaluated at year 5 unless they come to loaded team and maintain. Coker came to a loaded team and every year got worse when Davis' recruits left. Davis would have owned the early 2000s.

Agree with a lot of your assessment. I though we could’ve given Riley at least one more season. We can’t be going with another coach again and again. It’s hard enough to attract someone high caliber anyway. After Scott was hired there was so much hype. Astronomical expectations. I said it’d take four or five years to begin to get things going. Was labeled a Frost hater. He’s got talent with a high ceiling perhaps but he certainly wasn’t ready. He underestimated some aspects of the Big 10. He’d have to adjust and adapt and evolve his scheme. Maybe he needs to shake up his coaching staff a little. Every great coach lacked experiences. What he could do is walk into the AD’s office asking to reconstruct his contract. Propose shortening it to three years. Decrease the amount keeping it in the budget. Then go out and hire the best personnel he can get. Positions that would attract and increase the interest of top athletes. And competent position coaches like that might make commitments that wouldn’t be as difficult as drawing a replacement. He likely has relationships with coaches and others with experience he could lean on. Our issues are much deeper than Scott Frost. It would take someone like a Chris Petersen to turn things around. We might not be the powerhouse that we once were. There is no reason we can be competitive consistently and highly competitive over time. I don’t know if there’s any truth to him experiencing personal hardship. Those sorts of things can’t be underestimated. But, for now I’ll assume not. What’s more likely is that he’s overwhelmed with the task which more experience would’ve help him with. He’s learning but will it be quick enough. Fans are fatigued with the lack of progress that’s been going on for so long. It’s an emotional investment. It would’ve helped to lessen the expectations saying that it could be ugly for some time but that he was committed instead of fanning the flames of hype. Then move towards exceeding expectations over time. We just love our Huskers, want the best for our team!

Everything is coming together Scott frost has the program going to the right direction with the defense. Scotts bring Osbornes play book to I’m seeing our old I formations, triple option back. With Steve Peterson changing something that’s not broke nearly killed the program off by switching to the west coast offense and bring a outsider NFL coach to run things with no clue of our history, taken all the national championships and conference championships away and hid them in a closet, new coach new era failed hard. But the greatest fans in college football and the boosters had the last word and we’re not going to let that happen. Scott brought back The walk on program with in state recruiting and traditions are back. Sure it’s super exciting for husker fans but boring for the non husker fans channel surfing watching the huskers dominate the clock and rush for 600 yards a game. The sower planted the seeds. Scotts here to stay along the new ad. Looking forward to seeing this program get back to its roots.
