Robert Taylor was a true star and he deserved every bit of praise that he received. He was one of the most famous and successful leading men of the Golden Age of Hollywood. He was celebrated for his strapping good looks and his reputation for being a reliable, clean-cut actor. He was perhaps best known as 'The Man with the Perfect Profile'.

Robert Taylor died of lung cancer at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica, California on June 8, 1969. He was 57 years old. In October of 1968, Taylor went in to have surgery to remove a portion of his right lung after doctors informed him that he had likely contracted a fungal infection called Coccidioidomycosis otherwise known as Valley fever.
Throughout his career, Taylor experienced many high points as well as low ones. When HUAC called him to testify before the committee about communism in Hollywood, he gave the names of three of his former colleagues. Not only were their careers ruined by that, but his reputation was also tarnished.
Another low point of his personal life was the bitter divorce that he and his ex-wife Barbara Stanwyck went through after he cheated on her with one of his co-stars from the film 'Quo Vadis' while he was in Rome shooting the movie.

One of my favourite actors of all time. I read a biography of Robert Taylor some years ago. Robert was a heavy smoker, and a big time Bar-B-Que fan, steaks on the Barbie can kill you. i read somewhere that if you Bar-B-Que often you should always marinade the meat, as it protects you from the carcinogens in the Bar-B-Que process.

In early films, he was probably the most handsome actor of his generation. In addition, he had a perfect speaking voice. However, he was a huge disappointment when, at the McCarthy hearings, he was instrumental with a number of people in the entertainment industry being blacklisted. Long a mid-western conservative Republican, there was still no need to do this. Even Gary Cooper, another conservative Republican, refused to give out names.

Where are you taking your information from? You've inserted your very own opinions but not what was the reality! How on earth he was loosing his sex appeal by 54, have you seen his pics? Clark Gable (and many others) was looking old and acted also at an older age in most of his movies and even so he played the leading man and was considered to having sex appeal even as an old looking man . While Robert Taylor was tall, strong build and with fine facial features hence a good looking man who played while young in most of his movies cuz he died at only 57 years of age, and you say that nonsense about his attractiveness. Anyway he was one of the most handsome guys of old Hollywood.
