I went to high school with Mr. Ruffalo's son, though I never really hung out with the kid because he was a couple grades below me. During an accepted students event, he came. I spoke to him with my teacher about an exchange program in France. This teacher was also the chaperone and I talked about it with Ruffalo. I spoke about how I had to teach the chaperone on how to drive stick. Ruffalo was genuinely intrigued. He didn't brush us off or nothing. For someone who was a famous celebrity to not brush us off but to just be there as an open ear was just amazing. He isn't like the typical Hollywood A-list actor, he's humble and genuine, that's what I liked about him.

Jason Peng because suffering breaks the shell of the ego. When the ego isn't in control, the truest, purest self shines. And damn, this is an amazing example.
Or they break, more often then not, they break. So, don't talk like a shitty life is like a good thing to have.
@lorenzobaxter6 жыл бұрын
A shitty life is illusional. Control is also an illusion. We have the power to shape our lives and destinies, but we can't just make everything happen because we want it. That's real bullshit. Suffering doesn't exist because of "the all mighty forces of evil and darkness" it is meant to transform you into a better version of you. We live in a materialistic world where people are power hungry, and we'll do anything to get it, at the ultimate expense of everyone. That power hungry part of us is also the same part of us that shuts down when any type of bad stuff happens to us. The ego. It thinks life is perfect, it's not. Not at all. Fear is a side effect of ego. Once it's gone, all that power and money you thought you wanted are gone. You could care less. The part of you that "breaks down" is a literal battle within your own mind. The pure self part, and the fearful, fake part built up by parents and society. So if you can get through the process of suffering, like Mark has, the ego loses control, and a much more pure self shows. Just don't let the veil of the ego block you.
@Jay99666 жыл бұрын
+Lorenzo Baxter If you think you sound smart. you're not, you can't even present real points in your wall of text and you keep contradicting yourself. TL;DR You either suck at expressing your points, or you literally are a kid who watches too many movies and think that he is smarter than others. 1) You say "A shitty life is illusional" then you went and say " Suffering doesn't exist because of "the all mighty forces of evil and darkness" it is meant to transform you into a better version of you." So you say it is just an illusion, but then you say it actually exists? Pick one and stick with it please. 2) You say "Control is also an illusion" then right away, you say " We have the power to shape our lives and destinies" So you're implying that we have no control but we can still choose what we want to do with our lives? No, that actually contradicts the meaning of having no control. Having no control means you can't choose whether you want to eat apples or oranges, because there are only oranges. 3)We live in a materialistic world where people are power hungry, and we'll do anything to get it, at the ultimate expense of everyone. I don't think you get the meaning of power that we humans want, power over others is power, authority is power. You don't have power when there's no one left to reign over. So, your "expense of everyone" is vague and can be interpreted as "the sacrificing of every other human being", which is the only way I could interpret it and it contradicts the concept of power. 4) You say "That power hungry part of us is also the same part of us that shuts down when any type of bad stuff happens to us." This sentence literally makes no sense, so you stop being power hungry when shit happens to you? No, on the contrary, people crave power MORE when they are in a shitty situation, because shitty situations often induce feelings of helplessness and that will incite the will to acquire power which translates into being power-hungry. 5) The ego. It thinks life is perfect, it's not. Not at all. Fear is a side effect of ego. Once it's gone, all that power and money you thought you wanted are gone. You could care less. Do you even know what "ego" is? It's pretty similar to pride. Proud people or egoistic people generally lack fear because they are too proud to see it, because they think others below them and nothing can threaten them. Egoistic people do not think life is perfect, they'd more likely think that they're perfect. Why would craving for money and power be gone along with ego/fear? They are completely unrelated. 6)The part of you that "breaks down" is a literal battle within your own mind. The pure self part, and the fearful, fake part built up by parents and society. this is also near incomprehensible. so did whatever part of you you're talking about already break down or is it still in a literal battle? And do you know what literal means? A literal battle would be a sustained fight between large organized armed forces. That is what literal/literally means, it is not commonly used to stress/emphasize on scale or importance, it is just used to signify the reality of the word used after it. Are you trying to say that when faced with sufferings, our facades and our inner self will clash? that's not how shit works, that's not how humans work. 7) So if you can get through the process of suffering, like Mark has, the ego loses control, and a much more pure self shows. Just don't let the veil of the ego block you. Ego doesn't bar someone from showing his/her true self. And, ego is not a bad thing, you keep talking like ego is the poison of the human mind. It is not, ego, like any other thing in the world is beneficial in moderation, people with low ego suffers from the inability to see their own strengths, while people with too much ego suffers from the inability to see their own weaknesses. Alright, I don't really care if you read the whole thing or not, but hopefully you won't post further bullshit below.

@paulcatania13156 жыл бұрын
I had the same exact brain tumor Mark had: acoustic neuroma, left-side, 5cm x 5cm (golf ball sized), but even worse because the growth caused fluid build-up in my brain (hydrocephalus) which required a shunt installed and an additional surgery. I now live with left-side deafness, constant double vision, facial numbness, shrill tinnitus and residual headaches from what is called "over-shunting" where too much fluid is pumped out of the skull creating a decrease of pressure, resulting in the billowing or expansion of brain tissue. I am a bass guitarist ( I once read that Mark also played bass) and was a hard working musician as this problem developed over the course of 4-5 years. The surgery (15.5 hours) left me not only half-deaf but somewhat impaired on my right-side from brain compression. While I can still play, it is not the same. I'm not as fast or dexterous as was before. I was also a very good illustrator. I can't draw anymore. That feeling and control that was meditative and autonomous is gone. My penmanship has also been trashed. From the neck up, I'm a total wreck, but ironically, from the neck down I'm good to go and am in pretty good shape. I truly empathize with what he went through.

I didn’t think it was possible to actually like a celebrity, but I liked Mark Ruffalo and didn’t know 90% of this stuff. Usually the more you find out about a celebrity the less you like them, then you see something like this. I feel like he should get a lifetime achievement award or something. He’s like Keanu Reeves but he’s also a great actor.

I see your "Point Break" and go all in with all his other movies. He's almost completely unemotional, he has the range of Derek Jeter (which is to say that of a cooking range). He's stone faced. But he's also pretty much the nicest most generous guy in Hollywood, and while Ruffalo may have surpassed him in niceness, I haven't heard of him buying an entire film crew motorcycles. Even people who work with him say he's the shyest person ever and they can tell he's very uncomfortable in a lot of scenes. These are actors who have actually acted with him. Not fans who like his movies (of which I like A LOT) who use that as a funnel for calling him a great actor.

I still Love him in 13 Going On 30, that is my feel good movie, not sure why but whenever I feel bad, I watch that. I do feel bad for the girl he doesn't marry in the movie, because she wasn't bad, but he just has to marry Jenny's character. I just like him though, because he is humble and kind, he doesn't let the fame get to him, maybe that is why I like the movie so much, his character in that is how I kind of see as his character in real life. Not many people are like that any more, humble and kind despite the bad things in life, like he acts in movies, but it is more like it is something that he just does well, all the people in his life mean more.

Mark Ruffalo is one of those actors you never really notice until you watch him as the Hulk. It's kind of like, yeah, I know who he is, and then you start re-watching some of the more memorable movies that came out within the last fifteen years, and you spot him in the same way you're looking for Waldo in Martin Handford's drawings. He does bring a sweet-mannered persona that makes him great for chick flicks like, View From The Top, which he happens to play the boyfriend of Gwyneth Palthrow! No, I can relate to someone like him because I've battled several stages of severe depression, and I haven't really been able to pick myself up from it until the last year or so. That's what we call ironic that he has had anger issues for the actor who plays the Hulk. You see in the movies characters who are angry lash out, but you don't see very many actors play the character who's boiling w anger and hardly ever show it. I don't think what's helped him is completely bogus, but what helps me is to pick up my Bible and read passages like Romans 8, Psalms 91, Psalms 23, and all those places where we're reminded that God actually cares about us, and I know for a fact that reading the Bible does work. More power to ya, right???

Both of you will get through your difficult times, and no matter how bad they seem, and how far away "getting back to normal" may seem at times, it has always been my experience that things change quickly and unexpectedly. I have fought cancer twice, not to mention the job loss, financial burden, etc. that comes along with it that ended once in homelessness, and each time, things were better than they ever were before and happened relatively quickly (within a year from being homeless, had the highest paying job I had ever had, brand new truck and headed back to financial security) It's not always easy to see, but one change in your circumstance often puts a ball in motion that snowballs quickly and comes out of nowhere - so do not despair, gentleman!
