Not only that but he suffered his injuries on Satanic holy day April 1st- 13 weeks after New Year- and died on Lughnasadh the ancient human sacrifice night. I should know I am an old school London graffiti writer and oil painter still blacklisted, am gangstalked, cyberstalked, sometimes using the occult calendar, and receive death threats from the people behind this atrocity and their agents. I'm in the film Graffiti Wars, chosen by Robbo to speak for the grassroots old school graffiti community to Channel 4 and thus the public, hence I appear at 8.55 in the above film. The goldfish piece appears to predict the date and manner of Robbo's death, it's about to hit it's head and the term for a victim of an April Fool is a fish. I know the rabbit hole very well and actually have spent 14 years mapping it out in a soon to be released book.

It's good to see when writers pay respect by leaving other deceased writers pieces alone. Same thing happened in 'my' country in the 90's. A young guy (TABU), addicted to hitting steel and street bombing, unfortunately committed suicide. After that, it was an unwritten rule to not cross his pieces. Rumour has it that other writers even refreshed his works, when they began to fade. Rest in PIECE to any deceased writer, keep rockin' in the afterlife ✌

I think it would be important to mention Psycho City here. This was an area in San Francisco where some factory owners had given permission to some Graffiti artists to paint on their walls on the outside of the factories. There were hundreds of layers of paint on these walls and where a lot of the art was developed past just writing one's name on a wall. Because the factory owners were fine with it, it was considered a legal spot, until authorities got involved. Long story short, it became illegal to paint there even with permission, and then graffiti kinda exploded from there on to illegal vandalism.

San Francisco Graffiti scene is not even relevant to EU graffiti since they inherited New York funk as a pure foundation unlike SF using Style Wars as a stepping stone to birth graffiti in the area and TMF and TWS creating the definitive foundation of SF style. Total different things, considering SF and EU graffiti literally started the in the same time, what you are mentioning here is a total stretch

Yeah, it's true that the whole stencil scene was big in France and other parts of Europe before Banksy was using that technique. Most people are not aware of this fact so thanks for shedding a bit of light on that. Growing up in NYC since the 80s I have been infatuated with Graffiti as an art form on walls and especially the trains in the old days. Now older, I appreciate the beauty and parody of Banksys work and am fortunate to own 2 small, but original pieces of his. I have also seen the documentary on this story before, and while it has a sad ending, I'm glad Robbo finally got his recognition. You did a great job as well, however I would say that the biggest place in NYC was 5 pointz, not the trains, because they cracked down on the trains years ago. Unfortunately today 5 pointz is gone as well.

a similar thing happened in new york to an artist who wrote SANESMITH, according to legend he fell off the brooklyn bridge while trying to put up a piece that covered the entire top of one of the towers. I went to the same high school as him, and they still have a piece of his on the back wall of the costume closet behind the stage in the auditorium. it may be the only surviving work of what was once one of the most prolific artists in the NYC scene in the 90s and early 2000s.

Watch out with calling Banksy a graffiti artist around some of the elitists (actual) graffiti artists tho, what he does is considered street art since he uses stencils for pretty much everything he does, graffiti artists use stencils sometimes for stuff like patterns on a background for example but some get very precious about this stuff. Whatever you wanna call him he's an artist all the same whether you like him or not he has his talent and that's pretty much undeniable. That said graffiti is a very strange phenomenon where there's a lot of comradery among most of the "true artists", the top dogs, but as you go down the ladder the hostility escalates rather quickly... the shitter the artist the more aggressive and gang-like, Toys they call em and they are what give this amazing art a bad name. Great vid as always ❤

1. Putting "elitist (actual)" makes you sound like just as big of a tool 2. Jimmy covered that. ffs 🤦‍♂️

@@wilfordbrimley6938 I call em elitists because they are and I say (actual) because as I said these elitists don't consider Banksy is not a graffiti artist, he started as one but he was aggressively average at best. Great designer, shit with a can. So yeah the purists or elitists do not consider them an actual graffiti artist like they consider themselves, elitist are gatekeepers and a lot of those elitists are (actual) artists in the sense that they bomb stuff with shitty tags and even vandalize historical landmarks, doesn't make em good but they are still elitists and the (actual) is obviously a mockery towards those kinda Toys. And who cares if he covered it when what I'm saying is to watch out, as he well put there's a lot of violence and rivalry turned to enmity because I've watched people get fucked up over stuff like that with other much smaller and irrelevant artists because for many considering Banksy a part of the graffiti world a is a big insult, and I cannot fault em even tho I don't share the sentiment, and then I pointed out the hypocrisy of many (actual) graffiti artists using stencils sometimes and other tools for their pieces. 2. Making comments with bullet points, specially when it's just for 2 things and the 2nd point is not only idiotic but also not even a point to begin with... is actually being a tool, Wilford.

I still love your work Jimmy. It's been many months since I last watched one of your videos. You're kind of taking the tragic vibe lately eh? Also, sadly, I'm not sure how many more I can watch, you've tripled your ads, it's tedious.

Credit where credit's due, Baksy did the right thing. Even if it took him awhile. I don't have much love for Banksy; and it's clear that Robbo was the real OG, but, at least he was man enough to put the pettiness behind him.

You should cite the Graffiti wars video that contains all of this information and much more depth. It is really interesting and is where many of your images and snapshots are from if I am not mistaken. Furthermore it is interesting that you are covering a topic about stolen material in the art world and not citing your source.

Its not Banksy's fault that everyone just likes his work. Why wouldn't they? It's good. It spreads a message, and it could cause tourists to travel across the world just to see it. But I can also see why the graffiti world is pissed at him for having his work glorified, while we all get buffed and scrutinized. I think the difference between us and Banksy is the fact that a lot of his art carries a message with it. Otherwise, normal people look at classic graffiti as, "just vandalism". And I can also see how other writers could see stencils as, "cheating". But I hate to use that word in any sense when talking about art. Nothing is off limits in art. I was just watching a documentary of people who make 3-D printed guns, and consider their guns art. And I can't tell them its not, because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you wanted to call a shit you plopped art, I have no right to tell you its not. I can still disagree with you, though. Basically, if it's not physically hurting you, then stop worrying about what someone else is doing and focus on yourself. In the case of him going over Robbo Inc.: I see it as that was definitely purposeful. Even the wallpaper guy he used where it only partially covers it up shows the calculated diss. He wanted everyone to know who he was covering up.
