Happy Easter everyone ! The auction for the ring Kobe gave his father ended on 3/30 - it sold for $927,200. Joe sold it for $173,000. Lmk what I can do to improve for next time!!

He was an arrogant, angry dickhead as a young man-- I'm sorry, this was the obvious truth. He also probably committed a crime for which he would have gone to jail. I do think he was trying desperately to make up for that in his post-retirement years. Part of the tragedy of his early death was that he was still changing, still striving to be a better person. His parents don't sound like the nicest people, and it sounds like he made them pay for that too. Sucks all around.

It's a pretty big disagreement. Kobe knew what his parents wanted. They created him, after all. He knew that marrying this woman would cause a rift between his parents who felt strongly about preserving their family line, as God created it (roughly speaking, since there was likely at least some European ancestry in the family, but not significant).

@@cygnusprime6728 that's the story I remember hearing as well. Everyone made their choices and now have to live with the consequences... SMH All those years wasted and now the man is gone. My oldest son has a girlfriend who doesn’t like me. I have only met her once, because I live more than 2,000 miles away. I reached out to her, and even sent her a couple of gifts, to extend a cordial hand. She did even respond with a simple thanks. What I have concluded is that she wants to be the center of my son’s world. I contrast, I wanted my husband to have a close relationship with his family. I spoke to my mother-in-law regularly, even though she wanted my husband to be with someone else. The wife plays a crucial role in the cohesiveness of the family. Kobe’s wife has an acrimonious relationship with her own mother.

I totally get your pain but expecting her to be like you is totally unrealistic and unfair. You cannot re-raise this woman. It's not in your place and it was never in your place as she is not your child. Maybe she was raised to be that way through unwise counsel or simply bad examples and experiences as she was growing up. It's your own son you should be concerned about. Maintain a healthy relationship with your own child and pay no attention to this woman unapologetically without necessarily being rude or abrasive. If you maintain a loving relationship with your son there's a better chance he'll get back to his senses is she is toxic. Do not continue to communicate with her or send any gifts since it's not working and probably fueling the fire. Pray unceasingly. Jesus came to set the captives free. I sympathize with you. I'll pray for you ❤

RIP Kobe Bryant. Parents that raise and give a child the best life they can by non abandonment & neglect are a blessing. His dad moved them away to play ball himself and Kobe grew up and was recognized at an early age so he had been placed in a good environment. You never ever neglect a parent that didn’t neglect you.. Vanessa Bryant should make sure his parents are comfortable even if they didn’t care for her. If it had not been for his parents, she wouldn’t have known him. @SportsLegalAnalysisFL Kobe was a spoiled brat who was blessed with beautiful parents who groomed him to be the champion he was.. but he was so used to getting his was. That when his parents told him no to marry a video vixen very fast he threw a tantrum and cut his parents off. And put that woman and her family first.. gave her family a lavish life, made her filthy rich and she didn’t have to work for it. And his poor parents have to sell stuff to survive and Kobe was worth 600m… Shame on Kobe.. God took everything from him and cut his life short because of his selfishness..

If nothing else is true, as parents, you have to demonstrate to your children that you are the bigger person. I didnt see that here. I made mistakes when i was young, including marrying a woman my mother told me not to. She was there for me anyway. And when i had problems in that marriage, she said plainly, "that's what you chose. Dont cry to me about your choices". The message was clear, take responsibility, but i love you through it. I dont see signs thata Kobe's parents loved him through their issues. And to me that's just poor parenting. Especially in light of what his father birthed into his life. Maybe Joe was selfish and coveted his son's success as his own. This video is nothing but cap. The real reason Kobe and his parents didn’t speak was because Kobe’s father advised him not to mess around with an underage Vanessa, Kobe did it anyway. Then when Kobe went to marry her and asked for a prenup, Vanessa and her mother planned to blackmail Kobe saying they would go to the news outlets and papers and tell them that Kobe had relations with a 16 year old Vanessa. Kobe decided to marry her anyway without the prenup. Then Vanessa and her mother slowly began to drive a wedge between Kobe and his parents. Vanessa and her family ruined Kobe’s relationship with his parents, she made Kobe cut them off completely. Also for the record, Vanessa and her family no longer speak either as they have taken each other to court over personal issues, so that should tell you all you need to know about Vanessa and who she came from and how she gets down. To put the blame on Kobe’s parents is insane cuz they were the only ones truly looking out for Kobe the entire time.

Kobe did not forgive his parents The word of God says to honor your mother and father did he do that. You see the devil devises a plan to take you down when you open doors to him His parents wanted the best for him and he chose what he ended up trapped because he didn't listen and had to marry vanedda or loose that Basketball contract. Kobe lost his life in his prime no son to carry on his name. Vanessa own mother sued her over money. Her mother was all on Telemundo crying. These were not decent people and Kobes family knew they were messy. You saw this when his family did not speak at the service. Kobe would never been who he was if not for his parents . His father taught him everything he knew in regards to basketball and his mother brother a well known ball player. Leave this man's parents alone. They did all they could for him they lost their child in many ways behind someone messy. Let his parents live in peace. That they tried to sell their son's memorabilia especially as I heard were in their home for many years is not enough reason to cut them off my life. For me Kobe taking his parents to court was an extreme action considering the fact that the items were in their possession, it's not as if his parents came to his residence to steal the items. I'll be upset by their actions but not to the extent of suing them. For me, he disgraced his parents by suing them.

There is more to this story than we know, we only know what the media tells us and the few media clips we see. Remember Kobe became the player he was- because his Father kept his family together something difficult for many athletes and taught him the game not only from the physical standpoint but the psychological aspects. This is the foundation of Mamba mentality. Kobe showed the same love towards his family as he saw his father demonstrate. It’s to bad and very unfortunate that a division took place between him and his parents. Furthermore Kobe’s children are deprived the experience of their Grandparents and Aunts. I hope for the sake of his children that reconciliation can take place🙏🏿

Kobe, being the youngest at the age of 2 he, showed interest in bouncing the basketball. Or do you think he was making 3-pointers on his own? Did you know that he became addicted to shooting basketball and adding distance? Also, his father played for the NBA. Let me introduce Mr Joe "Jellybean" Bryant to you and all of the naysayers who think what they have heard has entered into their tiny little minds as their personal opinions and what they perceived as the gospel truth isn't. Did you also know Mrs. Bryant brother Chubby Cox, Kobe's uncle, was also an NBA player? There's a lot of interesting facts about how Kobe's 1st family helped him to become a super star. The family did this for 20 yrs. For his 1st family, it was never about the money it was, and it is about being devalued. Kobe stated, "My father is happy-go-lucky. My mother is more like me." Guess where he got it from? Notice I have not mentioned Vanessa his 2nd family. Why? Bc she came into the picture 21 yrs later. Do the math, go figure. HAGD

Actually, before he died Kobe allegedly found out that Vanessa had been cheating on him for a few years with a man who mortgage, and other bills she was paying since Kobe allowed her to handle the finances. He found out when he went over his financial records and noticed that every other month is mortgage payment made from his checking account double or tripled, yet his mortgage balance did not reflect that he was making double or triple payments. The same thing with his utilities. he also got a hold of her cell phone password and went through her phone. Something he never did before because she told him that only she needs to look through his phone because he cheated on the past. Kobe was crushed. He always suspected Vanessa was cheating but his ego wouldn't let him believe it. Once Kobe can home early and Vanessa was sitting on the couch next to a man Kobe never met before and introduced him as her cousin. The man grinned and got up a left. Vanessa then went upstairs to shower. Kobe he never imagined that Vanessa would ever cheat on him. But she did and was. Kobe was going to file for divorce that Monday following the helicopter crash. He had gathered enough evidence. He died that Sunday. Make no mistake.. Kobe was not whipped or a punk. Kobe was a 10th degree 'black belt' and his mind was always on the thought ' he doesn't want to 'catch a case'. That is the only reason he did not put hands on that guy or Vanessa that day allegedly. SIDE NOTE.. while I am a firm believer that everyone has a right to their own opinion the level of disrespect shown towards Kobe Bean Bryant parents is unbelievable. Yes, while he was alive Kobe made had made some comments publicly about his parents that were less then honoring his mother and father, but HE could do that. They are HIS parents. Kobe loved his mom and dad, and not a day went by that he didn't miss his mom. And his parents loved him. He regretted how he embarrassed his parents publicly. Got those people making such rude remarks about Kobe parents, remember you are on the outside looking in, there's is always more to a story than you know. You think that you are ridin' for Kobe, when in reality you are not respecting him at all. Like Jesus said 'those without sin, let him cast the first stone'.

First off this a disgrace of a title. Everybody commenting negatively must not have kids. They were trying to protect him as he was 21 and she was 17 at the time and they were sexually active. Her mom threatened to sue for statutory rape. When your young child is a wealthy star you have to look out for them because like all young people they don’t know any better but they think they do. I don’t know anyone that wouldn’t have felt the same way. They didn’t hate him, they didn’t want him to ruin his young life over a piece of ass. We all know the trouble a young man can get himself into being of legal age while the girl is still a minor. She was a senior in high school and he was a grown man. You should take this mess down immediately. He was the one that got the big head and nobody could tell him anything. You don’t throw the people that brought you into this world away for nobody unless they are abusive which wasn’t the case here. You’ll be greatly punished for dishonoring you parents for no reason other than they tried to look out for you…. and well we all saw what happened in the end. It also came out later they had reason to be concerned cause even Vanessa ended up cutting her mom off for a money grab which is exactly what she did back then basically forcing the marriage.

I know it's sometime hard but it's always better to listen to your parents because they want the best for you and may know things you don't. Kobe is still my favorite player though after all. Loved him.

I never understand when parents disapprove of their kids husbands ands wives. It only makes the situation worse when they start drama. We hated my bother in law but my sister loved him so we supported her and now after 6 years, he’s actually a really cool dude.

the fact that she was the one that spoke at the Hall of Fame, not one of his teammates, his peers, someone that actually been through the trenches spoke volumes. She’s a narcissist. His parents were right. She was a 304 that he wifed up

Lol, that’s a huge leap in logic. Their kids turned out to be ok, which means that Vanessa had to have had decent qualities. And, it makes sense for her to speak, because she had a more personal relationship with Kobe than his teammates.

@@davonbenson4361 It’s the basketball, Hall of Fame, not his wake or funeral. She made the Hall of Fame about her not about Kobe. Shaq , Gary bitty , pau , Phil Jackson or ROB Penc someone who’s been in the trenches . But his wife? What does that have to do with basketball? Kobe spent more time on the court than he did at home around his family.

You're talking about the most intimate person in his life, his wife of over 20 years and the mother of his children who has never been in any kind of scandal or gossip except for the Kobe incident which she forgave him for and still remained with him, yet you call her a ho and disrespect her because she spoke at her late husband's Hall of Fame induction! Did you ever consider that she must have been his best friend! You call her a narcissist yet his parents are the ones who were trying to control his life and choice! You're a disgusting, disrespectful and a disgraceful person, you should be ashamed of yourself!

Kobe never treated his parents they way he should. If he listened he would have been in a different space. His mom asking for 450k for a house when he made how many hundreds of millions in the NBA. He should have retired his parents.

Parents do not hate their children first of all. The Bible reads, "Honor thy Father and Thy Mother". It did not say do it if you like them or respect them. It is for you and your wellbeing that you honor them, not there's.
