I was introduced to her through Sesame Street. She was one of my favorites. I never forgot her calm demeanor and amazing voice.

Extremely well done bio. My only criticism is that it is too brief. Narration was extremely good.

Thanks for her story. I remember Fred Sanford loved the Horn as he called her. And when Fred got kissed by her he could not believe it. Sorry but that is where i heard of her.

@giladmiller42593 ай бұрын
@@sheilascott7807 why do you believe that? What evidence do you have of this? She’s from one of the most documented black American families. When was it that she was passing? Was she passing while she was younger living in Brooklyn with her black activist grandparents? Perhaps it was when she was living with her mother on the chitlin theatre circuit? Could you mean when she lived with uncle while he was the head of the all black college in Fort Valley, Ga? Indeed it must’ve been when she ran off to the all black neighborhood of the hill district in Pittsburgh and got married a black man and had two black kids.

@@giladmiller4259 I saw a documentary a few years back, like 10 or more years ago! I don’t remember exactly when! Are you related to her because you seem awfully sensitive to my comments!!!
@giladmiller42593 ай бұрын
@@sheilascott7807 it appears that you believe you can spread lies without being challenged. When asked you mention a nameless documentary from a decade ago. You free to make things up. If you share your imagined ideas in public, don’t be surprised when those ideas are challenged.

Is she mixed? because she's very light toned for someone who's breaking boundaries for being black.
@harley7836 Жыл бұрын
She’s Afro-Latino American. Her father was Black and her mother was Cuban. But a lot of people especially at the time refuse to use the term “ALA” and just label and call the people who are “ALA” Black.
