The negative comments here bum me. Do you folks not know Gord at all? On any given night he is gonna present a different style and mood. On this night he was feelin'' some angst. And you know what? It fucking works! He sets the tone and can bring many different things to the songs. This was a time when his wife was just getting over a battle with breast cancer, you might forgive him if he is gonna blow of some steam at the old ACC.

Those who see Gord on stage as a singer are missing half the picture. The other half is he is an improv actor, fleshing out his feelings in the moment, the stories behind the songs, song lyrics in progress, or stories or images that just fit the moment for him. That is what he is as a frontman.

Ive had the VERY good fortune of seeing the Hip 10 times ( I live in Michigan btw). Ive seen many different Gord's on stage, but the one Gord I NEVER saw, was 'mail it in' Gord. He's real. His emotions are real. If you want to watch Live Between Us over and over, go right ahead.

If any of you with bad comments were really and truly Tragically Hip fans you would think otherwise...so therefore you aren't true Tragically Hip fans! Keep your bad comments to yourself. I would have loved to be at this concert and enjoyed it. Gord is such a character and really gets into his work. He was having a great time up there and being classic Gord Downie. I wouldn't want it any other way!

@TheJdaldridge Same here. Gord Downie was a phenomenal frontman and a very modest and decent human being. There are two things I find criminal: one, that such an original and accomplished band didn't receive more attention and enjoy more popularity south of the border (Canada-US and second, that Gord was taken from us so soon at 53 years old when he still had so much left to offer us artistically. RIP Gord Downie

I remember going to a Bob Dylan show one night, sitting next to Sass Jordan and neither one of could make out any of the songs. It sounded like one song from the beginning to the end of the show. It may not have been the best show musically but I got to sit in the presence of a poet, musician and entertainer for over two hours and I will never forget it. For those of us who have gotten to grow with The Hip throughout their career will know just how special he is. He transcends his own music and performances. He is so much more than who he is. We are very lucky to have had him and to call him Canadian.

There's a lot to appreciate, and he was certainly on top of his pantomime game. The band played the music perfectly. In fact the band always appears to play the music perfectly. There's a boundary where creative license transitions to harming the product and at times that line got crossed.
