Thanks for sharing... Y'know, I often enjoy the solitude of backcountry camping and conversation with friends around the fire. Apart from the gentle sounds of an acoustic guitar, the music of The Hip is really the only foreign interruption I tolerate amid the natural silence. Every song a memory.

@@PMunkS Man, this is one of my favorite YT comments of all time. It's closing in on 1:30 am, and after a few hours of Hip videos, your words and Bobcaygeon (studio) are the perfect off-ramp into a deep, peaceful sleep. "Every song a memory". Indeed.
@PMunkS

@@aquariuslxiii I been binging on The Hip recently too. The lyrics often sound like conversations I would have with friends. "Maybe I'll go to New York... I'll drag you there... you said no one drags me anywhere..." Bobcaygeon hits me with settling in to a setting sun across the lake, a flickering fire, a wine-tipped colt, and fresh lake trout on the pan. Hip fans are the best... peace! ;-)

I think the 2000s might have been their strongest decade. They had all the maturity from all the touring in the 90s and Gord's voice was so good in the 2000s (I thought it declined a little in the 2010s - a bit too much yelling. I saw an interview he did once where he talked about working with Bob Rock in the mid-2000s and how Bob made him sing with restraint - I think it worked well). The band was super tight through the 2000s as well. There is a concert from Abbotsford BC here on KZbin in 2009 that is amazing as well. Great bookends for the decade.

You can if you wanna be... borders are just fences built by property owners. Funny thing about a wall, it can keep unwanted things out, but it can also be a prison keeping things in. Keep this in mind as human farmers posing as public advocates on both sides of any border or political-ideological divide propose any measure to restrict and monitor human movement... the decision concerning freedom of movement will thereafter be in the hands of those same farmers with a monopoly on the use of force and violence.

Whenever TH came to town the crowd was pretty much all Canadian. I remember they played in the area for 5 nights in a row at various small clubs. The show I saw had most of the Canadians playing for San Jose Sharks in attendance as well. lol

United States here: We would have loved to trade Mr. Downey for our own Mr. Stipe based on the fact Mr. Stipe no longer 'flails and feels' the music. Unfortunately, we have learned of Mr. Downie's demise. Our condolences. In light of his passing and our additional research, we have come to the conclusion that Gord got with the times and Michael doesn't.

Tiger the Lion in this set is probably one of their heaviest ever! Change of shirt and right into an eloquent acoustic Wheat Kings. Incredible 💕

One of the more plausible theories as to why The Hip had trouble getting traction in The U.S. is because they'd sell out (The Filmore) and all of the tickets were bought up by expat Canadians - thus, limiting their exposure to new American audiences.

I have a funny feeling that Canada wouldn't be in the sh*t state it's in now if Gord was still around. He embodied the beauty of a Canada I so loved and appreciated when I emigrated here in 1990. No politics here, but the last five years I have seen this wonderful Nation so sorely abused. I doubt if Gord would have been silent.......

not political but he seemed to believe in Trudeau, but I will give a dying man his right to hope for his beloved country where his wife and kids will remain. God Bless Canada. God Bless the Hip. God Bless us all and quick!

@@AnnCashes I think many of us fell for the Mr. Nice Guy facade. I like to think Gord would have seen through him in time like the rest of us. Gord was one of the good guys while Trudeau is straight up evil.

Thank you for the upload! I've missed this show ever since the last was taken down. Wonderful performance, Tiger the Lion and Flamenco with Kate being the highlights for me. Gord was an absolute gem, one of the great lyricists of our time.

Great show. Maybe one of their best. When firing, this band had few peers. Enough with the hockey jerseys already though, we get it.

Gordie is such a complete different person than Micheal stipe .they both are skinny with shaved heads who are amazing artists. Songwriters. That’s about it. Gord was a hockey player. A goal tender. Taking slap shots to the dome.

Gordon Downie was certifiably crazy. Is that his caretaker next to him? At 1st, it's VERY funny, then it's talented then weird...but the physical dramatics...man ...that's a lot of work or he's channeling Harvey Milk...I don't know...I watched late night television for a few years...this would have fit nicely between Tom Sneider and the Ghoul. Just sayin'...the music is great.😊
