This is sort of surreal...The trailer is GONE and no I did NOT fall a tree on it.
My first off grid home on the Alaskan property is on to its next adventure! I spent the last 4 winters in this trailer living off grid and there were times I was not sure I was going to make it, but, it is now time to move this cozy home to someone else's property and start the big spring projects!
I am a complete novice builder who grew up in sunny California and thought it would be an awesome idea to build my own off grid cabin on raw land in Alaska...what could go wrong?
I have never built a thing in my life so why not a house? OH! and I can live in a trailer while I do it....and work full time! Did I mention that I am out of shape, over weight and 60? What could go wrong?

Howdy Sean!! U-Pack trailer #3 got dropped off today, and will be picked up on the 8th. I hit the road headed north on the 11th and should be in by the 19th, possibly even the 18th. I've still got so much to do to get ready to roll... lol!! and then a whole summer of work ahead of me when I get up there... but those are the wonders of life that an old guy like me looks forward to. Of course I'm also looking forward to good times with all of my Alaska friends too!!

When I had a cabin in a woods, I had a firewood rack, made from couple of cinderblocks, 2x4s and tarp. Can be erected in 15mins.

Lots of trees came down. It's opening up so well. The noise don't bother the ladies and the Black Beauty's at all don't seem like. How much of the fire wood are you planning on putting in front the ground? Your going to go higher than the porch to store wood for winter? Or you plan on make a few wood piles? Just asking. Seems like there still some tree that need to come down. Your burger looked delicious I also eat mine with sweet relish and mayo. Have a wonderful day it's all comming together.

The ladies and BBs have no issue with the saw running at all now, they take it in stride. The woodpile is temporary. I plan on building the woodshed close to where the pile is.
