You need to build yourself a dedicated caboose. Put an action relay in it and give yourself a “toggle parking brake” control on you hot bar so you can lock up the rear-most wheels. When going down steep hills. It probably wont stop you, but it’ll keep you cars from piling up on you.

I really wanted to do a lounge car for this - proper art deco, with a bar. Don't think I've got enough resources for it though, and haven't found any carriages since splitsie announced the train :(

Looking at all the amazing things you’ve done with the scrapyard so far. If you happen across 4 large thrusters. I’d honestly enjoy seeing the Bus be the core of a quad thruster personnel transport called “The Magic School Bus” or “Frizzle”

Guess next time we will add a spinny light to it ;P If you happen to be around our base, i guess we could spare couple solar panels for you. Its amazing how stable the train was so far. Maybe u could make a caboose/brake-car at the end of the train, that has some reverse atmo thrusters, and just turn those on to brake with the dampeners, and should help to slow down and stabilize the train. About decoys; remember those "bikes" from the Frostbite scenario? Those had only 3 1x1 wheels with no friction and propelled by an atmo thruster. Something similar is cheap to build and fast!

...with a Capac decoy stuck on it somehow. That way the victims--- I mean pilots, will have some company for their deviously daring decoy runs. Being dronebait is terribly lonely work. I also find it fitting that each of those intrepid pilots have the patron saint of meatshields with them for their short, exciting journey.

in such trailers you always ALWAYS always apply the brakes at ALL TIMES on the trailer to keep the consist in tension. you can jackknife while braking if you dont.

I do suggest towards convert one of the cold carrying carriages to a drill platform that can get underneath the ground and then get to where the ice is just as a backup plan

I do suggest a Flatcar to accept contributions toward the polar attack run. or anything you happen to find along the way. the issue I see with drawing fire is your Survival Kit. Drones will auto lock to it and target with extreme prejudice.

I'd removed the ones on the car that wouldn't move, you could see that when it lifted up when I messed with the suspension strength, something odd was going on

You should set up a quick disconnect between your lead locomotive and the rest, like an escape shuttle. Stick the flatmos on the bottom

Never thought I'd see a double headed British Rail class 09 post-apocalyptic war train, but here we are. I much prefer the BR blue livery of the 1970s and 80s versus the BR green livery of the 1960s, as you found yours, but scrappers can't be choosers.

I was skeptical how the train would handle sharper elevation changes with the carriage cars wheels not being closer to the hinge connections, but it seemed to handle well so far. Little decoy rovers launchable from flatbed cars, I love it.

I have to join the other recommendations in that direction. if you keep the handbrakes of the last one or two (once the train gets longer) cars on the hotbar and use them as a sort of drift anchor, driving downhill should get a good bit safer

Adjust the subgrid wheel script to target specific wheels/carriages then add a brake van to the back and have only this one provide the braking for the rest of the carriages as you go down hill

Paris subway actually have some lines running on rubber tiers and they look just like normal truck tiers :) It was to reduce vibrations I think but it have the down side that the rubber cause a lot of heat so many of those stations are very warm, at least some 30 years ago :D

Would solar on the top of the cargo be a good idea, just as a little boost in passive power? (You mentioned the solar after I wrote this) And can you make deployable decoys to distract any chasing npcs? As in decoys wrapped in steel and held in place by merge blocks/magnets? Oh and and maybe a camera drone to help find your way through rough terrain and scouting?

Deployable decoys is what I was thinking too. 6-10 per car. Held by mag plates over a slope. Release, and they roll off to the sides as the train makes it's escape.

thats quite the train! and rolling well at that! i feel like the coal cars could stand to have a block or two shaved off, they feel to tall, they taper at the bottom anyway so shouldnt get to close to the wheels.

You don't need the subgrid control script to control the train going down hill. You can use a remote control on each car to turn on the brakes on that car. This works fine in single-player; multi-player might be different. But subgrid control script would be useful if you want to use the other cars wheels to power up a hill.

you can set up a LCD that ppl can put up bid's on, on stuff you wanna sell and what you want for them. so ppl can make bids when you are offline and all. ☺

Love the train. A couple of ideas for it. Place a hydrogen engine and tank in the lead car for emergency use only if course. Make it so the second engine can drive on its own. It'd be very mad Max of you to have that control panel at the top the pilots area, especially if you had spikes in the front and flames from behind lol.

Could you add brakes (or increase/decrease friction) on the last car (that you intend on keeping) to a hot bar key. That way you can combat the wiggle if it gets to be too much.

Are there gyros on board? (A trick I learned from Black Armor) If not add like 4 to the main engines set to override (zeroed out), so it needs wheel friction to change its orientation, and more importantly, holds its orientation and resists tip overs/clang wheel twitches/rocket blasts. Have them set on a hotkey to turn off override if you need to right yourself mid air.

ok first thing in video i saw was you saying people said make the car turret's turret rotate instead... no thats so dumb the point of this train design seems to be inspired by mad max which if you ever watched those movies people you see there's a ton of goofy but scary looking vehicles or combinations of vehicle parts but really cool, splitsie don't listen and keep that car turret as i said before it's truly mad max and i love it and you for doing that design i just hope your balance of mass doesn't go out of wack with a top heavy turret added, i also wondered like you during video if adding some thrusters on that train trailer with the car turret will add that stabilization you need? but lets see what you do splitsie 😂

Does this pack have some kind of grinder thing, like the welding plates that auto weld blocks but in reverse? like dropping an item on it and it grinds it down to parts. Drop a car on it and it grinds down everything into cargo container. Or maybe a drill/grinder on the front of the crane?
