Best way to check hood clearance… make a ball of plumbers putty. Set it on the highest point of the engine. Slowly close the hood to see if the putty squishes.

Love this project , also FYI gloss black is worse to paint t than any other colour , it will show any scratch or dent in the primer and body and any imperfections , also it attracts dust and flies like they are magnetic and then wet sanding and polishing is another task

I had the same car all blacked out and it was a small block 350 with a factory 3 speed transmission. I loved that car . Too bad my ex wife blew the engine twice and after I put the 3rd motor in it I sold the car and what a mistake that was . Good luck with your car .

Make sure you check the float levels they're generally close from factory but you most likely have to. You'll be there anyway where you set your idle mixer screws

Unfortunately the G Body cars were produced right in the middle of the Malaise era and they had so much smog and pollution control crap they had miniscule horsepower even with 400cu in. displacement. Not being a jerk and I'm assuming things. Is that just a stock Chevy 350? Not sure the heads and cam will work with that intake / carb set up. Certainly won't be ideal. Ideally you'd want bigger valves than stock and at least a bit lumpier on the intake lobes with the cam to run a Holley performance set up like that. Not sure of the specifics of what he put on, just generalizing
