Based on the problems you had with this book, I think the second one might be more enjoyable for you. A lot of traitor’s cast is disposable but the sequel introduces all the major players that are followed for the rest of the series and also has multiple perspectives outside of baru. The tone is also REALLY different in the later books- it gets quite (darkly) humorous. In terms of pacing, the second and third book were originally one so the second book is like almost all build up for the third but I think it’s still really compelling. It really focuses on the ramifications of traitor’s ending but honestly it is still a lot of political maneuvering.

Something in the background is making very distracting noise for a good chunk of the video.

Thanks for letting me know - it was probably my dog chewing behind me, I'll make sure to adjust my mic threshold so it doesn't pick that up
